Customer Reviews

Very versatile, easy to operate light. A very easy to use and well designed light. It would have gotten 5 stars but the activation lever on mine likes to fall off at times. It's not the brightest on the market, but I'm not into brightness, I just need enough like to work by while camping. The lower lumen level allows a long burn time, even with rechargeable batteries. The various settings and red LED give you the ability to tailor your light to the setting you need for doing anything from reading in your tent or hammock to splitting wood and woodcrafting at night. I especially like the broad beam setting for giving you plenty of light for your peripheral vision when navigating at night. I've owned and still own several other models and makes, but this is the one that always goes in my pack. The band is comfortable and easy to use, the activation system is superior to the push button of most others, and the many modes can be a real battery saver. You won't be upset by it's performance unless you are looking for big lumens. 4Good light but don't trust the IPX4 rating Great light, plenty powerful enough for me to run at night with no street lights but......the rotating switch is a good idea, but this design is too 'mushy', it needs to have a more positive click at each position. Second, I run in central Texas at night. The weather at night in summer is routinely 82 degrees with 71+% humidity. I rinse my gear in an outdoor shower after each run. After only 6 passes through the shower, it won't turn off. On the plus side, it has been on for over 24 hrs and it is still shinning. It claims IPX4 which allows for "splashing water from any direction." I just hang it in the shower stream. Maybe I just expected too much from this rating. If you aren't going to get it 'too' wet, it is not a bad light. Guess I need to find IPX 5+. 2Princeton Tec Sync Headlamp - Inexpensive, versatile and easy to use i have been using Princeton Tec LED headlamps for a long time (~ 10 years). From experience, I know they stand behind their warranty, but they have also been very reliable. I was excited to see the new Princeton Tec Sync Headlamp.Having a combination of Extremely_Bright_White and Red LEDs can be really useful when camping, hiking and kayaking in the dark. The RED LED does not affect night vision and also seems to not attract bugs the way a White LED does. The White LEDs here are very bright and versatile, wide beam for general use, narrow focused beam for distance and both for tremendous light. I also use the headlamps all the time when searching for stuff in closets and working on mechanical projects or repairs.Operating on 3 AAA batteries provides great battery options. I usually use Eneloop rechargeable which last as long as alkaline batteries. Since this can also operate on Lithium AAA batteries, its good for extreme temps (-40 F).I find the new dial selector switch to be simpler to use than the push button switch on the Princeton Tec Viz headlamp. I don't need to practice before using it to remember how many times to push and hold the button for different modes. 5All the different light settings are very useful. The dial to control the light is much ... Light works well. All the different light settings are very useful. The dial to control the light is much easier to get to the light level I want. I wish more headlamps would use the dial instead of pushing a button several times to get to the right light level. 5Excellent Product from NJ company I bought this in Nov 2015, has worked reliably. I can't recall ever finding the headlamp on accidentally in my backpack. I've done about 200 miles down the Appalachian Trail with this model. It's light and comfortable to wear. The red light feature extends the battery and doesn't blind others around the campfire. 5Not worth it!!! To sum it up, there are a lot better lights out there at this price point. I purchased this headlamp for running. I have friends who have less expensive headlamps that seem to illuminate much better and cast a much stronger light (looking at the construction, it appears their reflectors are better designed). And mine has a short. I noticed this when I first bought it (it wouldn't turn off), hit it against my hand a couple times and it turned off. I don't use this thing all that often, so I figured it was a fluke. One year later, and after not much use, I can't get it to turn off at all. 2Love My Light, Dial it in... Just the light I was looking for. After seeing it in Backpacker magazine and winning their Editor's Choice 2015, I just had to have it. Granted it isn't the brightest light I could have bought, but I didn't buy it all for the lumens. I bought it because it has a dial on/off operation instead of the button on/off. Turning the dial is easier with gloves on than trying to push button with gloves on, we have all been there right. I tested it soon as it came in and retested it in the dark both with gloves on. Also with the dial if I pass the mode I want to use I just click it back instead of having to push through all the modes to get back to it. Good job Princeton.... 5Nice light at a reasonable price This is a great lamp. I was concerned as the first one arrived with a broken clip for the headband. The second lamp was pristine and seems durable. I use this to run in the woods at night and find it casts a respectable amount of light in a color that I have plenty of contrast for ground obstacles.Prior to this I purchased some of the high end Petzl headlamps. While the Petzl's are great lamps their interface is much more confusing (especially when you don't use those lights on a regular basis) than this Princeton's.The Princeton sacrifices lumens to the Petzl's I have, but takes standard aaa batteries (or rechargeable aaa's) versus the Petzl's proprietary rechargeable batteries. And of course with the Petzl's I have two different models so that means I have to have two different charging cables. Unless I specifically need a powerful headlamp I find myself grabbing this lamp first. 5High Quality As a former U.S. Marine (0341) with two deployments to Iraq during my tour of duty, I've owned and used a lot of headlamps. This one is the best that I've come across. It's very well engineered. The mechanism for turning it on is well thought out, and is escalates in terms of brightness. The first setting is the red light that will preserve as much of your night vision as possible. It goes up from there, through specular settings, then diffuse, and finally to a combination of the two. The headlamp is bright, the battery lasts as long as can be expected due to the LEDs, and the strap fits well. I recommend this product to any outdoor enthusiasts in addition to men and women serving in the military. 5This is a fantastic headlamp! The first one I ordered wouldn't work, but I called up Princeton Tec and they gave me a new one under warranty without any hassle (they were actually really cool to talk with). I have used the headlamp many times since I bought it and I love it! All the different settings are awesome and I love that you can turn the switch all the way back into a lock mode so I don't have to worry about it accidentally turning on in my backpack. I also love that you can adjust the headlamp up and down without having to worry about it eventually ending up pointing at your feet. 5
