This is the one to buy and keep around the house and car!!!! WORKS EASILY This sudden winter storm caused a lot of trouble Friday. I thought I was so smart because I had this big Coleman lantern and had already filled it with a bazillion (8) D sized batteries (maybe C, anyway, big and many). Had to RTFM, even then I was thinking WHY did they make it so complicated? And heavy? And it says "recharges" but I dont see it charging in any way. So the power goes out and I grab this lantern and- nothing. So angry. When the power came back on I immediately reviewed itColeman Quad LED Lantern Special Edition Ultra Bright 190 Lumens, Red to warn others. I also saw its smaller lights also need batteries and each compartment needs screws! Who needs that in an emergency or camping? So I looked for something better and found these little lights. They came today, Sunday, thanks Amazon! So surprise, the power goes out again and I remember the box from Amazon. Grab the little light, in the darkness, rip off the wrapper and crank a little. Turn on the switch and LIGHT! Stayed on for a so long the power came back before it went out. Had to come back and tell you THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY AND KEEP AROUND THE HOUSE. I bought four, $8 each. Think I will buy more and put them in every room, every car. Leave it in the window and let it charge except its way too easy to crank. Perfect for camping too. So happy! Maybe there is another small crank/solar battery that is as good, but this is the one I tried, and no contest winner over the lantern.Only thing that would make it better is being able to stand it on end but really, not a big deal. 5Pretty good for the price! I like the solar panel on the side so I can just leave it in my window and it'll charge. I like to go caving and running out of light is a big fear of mine. That's why I bought this flashlight so I'd be able to have a backup if I ever needed it. I haven't tried it in the cave yet, but using it in the dark has been pretty nice here. 5Small and very light weight. Ergonomic design with solar charge. Average looking quality but a handy item to have on you for hiking camping hunting or for the car. Nice small lightweight. My Eclipser TM brand solar viewers used as scale item. This solar powered light is the size of the front of regular sunglasses. I will update if needed after more use. 4Lack of extended sufficient light I am quite disappointed in this light. When I first received it it seemed to work fine. After a couple months the light is very weak unless you constantly wind the crank which ties up both hands. One to hold the light and the other to wind the crank. I was using it to take my dog out after dark and I need at least one hand free to care for my dog. When I quit winding it the light beam is almost negligible. I have another self winding light of a different brand that works great. I wind it for a bit and the beam stays bright for the time I need to use it. Wish I could exchange this one. 1A flashlight that's always ready. I received the PrimalCamp Hand Crank Solar flashlight with extremely fast shipping and it was charged right out of the box it's perfect for a b.o.b or just laying around the bed it's perfect never have to worry about batteries again it's gives plenty of light and I will probably be getting more haven't tried to solar charge it yet but the hand crank seems to work just fine I'm very happy with this flashlight. 5Small, compact, works This is a replacement for one I purchased a couple of years earlier. That one only broke because my toddler got his hands on it and started playing roughly with it. The main body withstood the abuse, but he somehow managed to break the parts that kept the solar cell attached to the body.I have had a few different brands of solar powered and rechargeable flashlights and this is one of my favorites for emergencies. It is small enough to fit in your pocket and very light weight. The amount of light it gives is decent and it can be clipped to the outside of a pack. I would avoid putting it inside a pack without protection to avoid breaking the solar cell. 4A Good Emergency Back-up Flashlight. Just bought this for the hurricane season. It's well made - larger and more sturdy than other solar/crank hand-held flashlights I have. Also, the crank is easy to turn (which often isn't the case) and has a recessed pocket it folds into to keep it from breaking off. So this is a good choice for an emergency flashlight with no worries about batteries for it. My only disappointment is that the instruction manual says that when the Ni-MH battery is at full load it can supply "continuous lighting for (only) 120 minutes." Of course one can keep cranking after the 2 hours for more light, but this does limit it to a true emergency back-up flashlight. I really want to give it 4 1/2 stars; I wish Amazon allowed half stars! 4Wasn't expecting much, but this is a great little flashlight! I bought this as a gamble because it was cheap but would be really cool if it works. I honestly didn't expect much, but now I carry this in my bag all the time. It's a great little flashlight that is very bright considering its size and the fact that it is solar/crank. Cranking just a little bit gives you light for quite some time --- the light emitted is focused kind of like a headlamp rather than a broad stream. I used it during a backpacking travel trip several times to help me navigate dark streets. It's small and lightweight (for lack of a better comparison, about the size/weight of a pack of cigarettes) , the clip is super sturdy, and it gets the job done. It would also be great to keep in your car or hurricane/blackout kit as an emergency flashlight. Absolutely recommend. 5Must have Very nice What a great small flashlight. I bought it as a combo with tactical flashlight. What I really like about this light is that it nicely fits in my hand and I can carry it in my pocket easily. It can be quickly recharged through the solar panel on the side or hand crank on the other side. Very useful in everyday situations. 5Great camp light. Nice little light that keeps it's charge well. Charging all day in the sun, it will last about an hour before you have to crank it. Not the brightest light, but keep in mind it's a fairly small light. 5
