Customer Reviews

Fixed my problemUpgraded my Comcast cable service to X1. The X1 DVR box could not be activated. Traced the problem to my distribution amplifier/splitter. Replaced it with this. X1 now works perfectly. Video quality improved as well. Appears to be a very well made device.Update 2/14/2018. The splitter failed while still under warranty. The manufacturer will only honor their warranty if purchased from your cable provider. I had to buy another one.5Wonderful product! We had been having problems with our cable signal. The cable company said there wasn't a problem. Decided to give this a try and have been very pleased. No more lost signals or pixelation on the TV. Installation was quick and easy. Highly recommend giving this a try if you are having problems with your cable signal.5The return path unity gain is the trick as most networks don't like upstream above 54dbmvSolves all the problems a $150+ service call from Comcast would, but costs a lot less. This will fix your MoCA signal issues when you have a lot of feeds/splits. The return path unity gain is the trick as most networks don't like upstream above 54dbmv. Great price much less expensive than my +12 db Motorola cable amplifier.5I have two of these: one to distribute Comcast ...I have two of these: one to distribute Comcast cable around the house and the other to distribute over the air signals from an antenna in the attic. The Comcast Xfinity X1 installer did not use one of these active distribution amps and put in so many splitters it was ridiculous and knocked the signal down into the -8 db range or so. Eliminating the splitters puts +8 db everyone in the house.Delivered as expected.5I bought this and pulled individual wires to each TV and the quality is far better. The instructions for hooking it up weren't aI got tired of the cable company pulling wires and splicing things all over the place. I bought this and pulled individual wires to each TV and the quality is far better. The instructions for hooking it up weren't a clear as they could have been but now that we figured it out, I am very satisfied with it and recommend putting them in any new construction or re wire project.5Replaced a standard splitter with this one and bad picture issues disappearedWorks as advertised. Replaced a standard splitter with this one and bad picture issues disappeared. This is the same exact brand that Comcast installs with their X1 systems.5THE Solution for X1 by ComcastIF YOU HAVE COMCAST CABLE OR THE X1 BOX FROM COMCAST - LOOK NO FURTHER, BUY THIS. Ok but for real. I have an older home that did not come with cable throughout the home. I had a regular old 4 way splitter at the tap and it worked just fine for years. The X1 box with DVR came out and I have been having connectivity problems ever since. I like fixing stuff myself (girlfriend doesn't) so I did some research. Turns out X1 uses MoCA (Multimedia over Coax), which those simple splitters can't quite handle. My symptoms were "We are having trouble connecting to the X1 Entertainment System", glitchy weird pictures during prime time events, and sometimes the picture not coming on at all. The X1 signal strength even said "good".After I installed this splitter - problems went away. Connects every time, picture is clear, no weird glitches, and my internet even sped up from 100Mbps to 116Mbps (could be coincidence). Please stop reading this review and buy this item. If 5 ports isn't enough for you there is a 9 port available. If 9 ports isn't enough, you can "daisy chain" these splitters to add more ports.Stop reading and buy. Your X1 by Comcast problems will melt away. Comcast quoted me $175 to come out to my house and install this exact item.5Great splitter for a Tivo systemWe purchased a Tivo Roamio and 3 minis. They run over a MOCA network. To save a ton of money, we did a self-install and bypassed Comcast service fees. Found this splitter on a few message boards, folks were saying that third-party technicians were installing with the Comcast X1 system. Turns out, it works just as well, or better, for a Tivo whole-house network. You can see in the picture how we have it wired up. You will need a cable cord to connect to the included power adapter, that's what goes into the power in line. You run the "passive voice modem" line to your cable modem. And of course the line in from your cable company into the input line. The other eight jacks are for any Tivo boxes you want to connect. We happen to have two lines in our office, so we could have a dedicated unpowered line for the cable modem, and a powered line for the moca adapter. The other four we have are for our Tivo Roamio Pro and three minis. The zero loss/gain is terrific, and our picture quality and network speed is awesome. We did put some insulated terminators on the unused lines, you can find those on amazon too. The weird looking filter on the input is our moca filter to prevent the moca network from leaking to our neighbors. Lastly, those cable tags we bought on amazon too, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TO8GGW.One last note, I read incorrect information somewhere that said you can't share a moca network across the eight jacks, that 1-4 and 5-8 didn't talk. That's just wrong as our MOCA network runs great across them. In fact, the wiring sheet that comes in the box says it's fully moca compatible, though you'll want the longer cable runs on 1-4 and the shorter runs on 5-8.5Solved some issues for meThis splitter allowed me to take a relatively weak signal inside my house and distribute it to multiple points in my house. Before I installed it, my Comcast X1 box could not get a strong enough signal to set up at the closest available point where cable enters the house. Now I get a solid connection to each coax drop that I have running back to this splitter.I have had no issues in the 3 months I have owned it with either cable television or with my modem.I like that I have room to expand, but its size makes it difficult to hide.5Slow erratic signal problem - SOLVED!Fantastic! Replaced an elderly similar model and this solved my mysterious and never-ending signal strength problems once and for all. Simple and easy to install. I read somewhere that there was a technology change some years ago and if you have an older signal booster it might not be as effective. Seems true enough - replacing mine solved it!5
