    Battery coverCan be an outstanding product, only thing the battery compartment, never fits properly. They sent me a second one , and after the second try, the same thing.I have scotch tape holding the batteries securely, until the tape gives, and the batteries go rolling towards the tilt, in the floor..It might be an isolated problem, but the Pockettalker, is useless for me. Since having these problems, I have been disgusted with the item, so I put it in the draw, used maybe four times. 3For the elderly, better than conventional hearing aidsConventional hearing aids aren't designed for people with limited dexterity, such as those with arthritis or the elderly. If you don't want tiny controls which are almost impossible to see (let alone use), this product is for you. It has two simple knobs which are large and easy to see: off/on-volume and tone. This simple device uses a conventional microphone (the black part sticking out) with an amplifier and an ear plug hole. Nowadays people will assume you have some sort of iPod device when they see you wearing it. My only complaint is that the earphone plug is monural. If you want to use standard (stereo) earbuds, you'll need to also buy a converter in order to hear sound from both ears. Here's a link to what I bought==> ($8.28 including shipping as of January 2010)Unlike hearing aids, the Pocketalker uses conventional AAA batteries. I bought this for my elderly father who had so much trouble with the expensive hearing aids a salesman talked him into buying. (As seen on TV!) I tried his hearing aids myself, and would never recommend such a thing for an elderly person. If I were hard of hearing, I would much prefer a device like this.I've bought this item and others from Williams Sound. Their products seem reasonably priced and the company ships promptly. Pretty much a universal complaint with ear-buds that must be stored when not in use.We are pleased that he is using it and we are even more pleased he is happy with it. 5
