Customer Reviews

works greatWorks great on my nexus player (TV). You are limited by the fact it's USB 2.0, but in a apartment environment it's better than using WiFi.5Wifi begone! Long live Ethernet!Plugged this into my Nexus player and it booted up no problem - no configuration/setup needed. MUCH better than the wifi connection. If you are having issues with your Nexus player streaming locally hosted HD content like I was, this is the ticket!5Excellent customer serviceI bought it to use with Android tablet (also works with number of phones).Pros:1. Works as advertised. It does get little warm in use but I was informed by manufacturer that is normal for this kind of device. (heat dissipation).2. Light indicators on device help in knowing whether connected to internet or not.3. Excellent customer service. They promptly reply to concerns.Cons:None. Been using for over six months and faced no issues till date.Uses of this adapter:1. Work well with window tablets (not used with RT but full windows version).2. Work with Android devices provided - (a) The device has OTG port (ie usb host facility) and (b) The manufacturer has installed the ethernet drivers. If the device only has OTG port but no ethernet drivers then it will not connect.(A) Tablets that support ethernet connection:1. Asus Zenpad S 8 inch tablet.2. Lenovo A10 (latest 10 inch tablet).3. Samsung Tab 4 (8 inch version, 10 inch version and 12 inch version but 7inch version does not support it).4. Samsung Tab 8.45. Samsung Tab A series.6. Samsung Tab S series.7. Nexus 7 inch 1st generation on Android 4.48. Nexus 9 inch tablet(B) Phones that support this adapter:1. Motorola G 1st generation, 2nd generation and 3rd generation.2. Motorola X 1st generation, 2nd generation and 3rd generation.3. Motorola E 2nd generation (but not the first generation).4. Samsung Galaxy Nexus5. Nexus 5 (Nexus 4 does not support ethernet connection)6. Nexus 6.7. Nexus 5X and 6P.8. Asus Padfone X9. Nvidia Android tablet generation 1 and 2.Example of devices which have OTG port but do not support ethernet as there are no ethernet drives include - Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, S6 (infact most Samsung phones), Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Chromecast.Following brand phones are not supported -1. LG phones2. Samsung Phones3. Xiaomi phones4. ZTE phones5. HTC phones6. Acer phones7. Huawei phones8. Windows 8.1 phones and following Windows 10 phone - Lumia 550.9. Blackberry all models10 Unnecto phonesFollowing brands support this device with built in ethernet drivers -1. Motorola2. Sony3. Asus4. Nexus DevicesUpdateMarshmallow has introduced usb ethernet under the developer settings. However still Samsung, LG and HTC phones running Android 6.0 do not support this adapter.Hope the review is helpful for someone planning to buy this adapter for an android device.Update:Samsung S8 / S8 Plus phones have ethernet settings in the settings menu and it works with type C to ethernet adapter.Update (25 Aug 2017):Works with Lenovo Phab 2Works with Moto G 5th Gen5Great product, and great tech support by PlugableWorks great with my Moto G5 Plus Android phone and my Samsung "Tab A" Android tablet. I had some difficult at first getting the Plugable adapter to work with both of these devices, but it turned out the issue was with my home's router and not the Plugable adapter. The Plugable tech support person I dealt with gets high marks for providing well thought-out responses, and very promptly I might add. I can't remember the last time I dealt with tech support that responded that quickly with a personalized answer. Most of the time I get a boilerplate email as an initial response to an inquiry, but not with Plugable. This dude was on the ball, and very professional and polite to boot!5This device really works! If you want to download large files, this is an excellent item to have. Downloading large files over wifi is never as far as a solid connection. I use this with the Samsung Tab S2 tablet and I am very happy with the performance. Keep in mind that, this adapter only works if your device support OTG. The Honor 5X phone does not support OTG so it can not take advantage of having a solid Ethernet connection with this adapter. The adapter is about 1 inch long so it is easy to take on the road. I am a road warrior and many of the hotels offer Ethernet in the rooms and this is a handy device to have for large file download.5Exactly what I needed to connect my Nexus Player direct to ethernet.I was initially disappointed that my new Google Nexus Player (purchased November 2015) did not have an ethernet port (let's face it, WiFi never beats Ethernet), then I read about these Micro-USB ethernet adapters. I took a lot of time to compare different options, and ended up with this product. Long story short, it works perfectly.I plugged it in, and the Nexus Player automatically switched from WiFi to Ethernet connection. Now downloads are faster, and I'm much happier with the Player.**If you are looking for a way to hardwire your Nexus Player via ethernet, stop reading reviews, and buy this product**One note: This is a USB 2.0 adapter, but don't bother trying to find a USB 3.0 adapter - there is no such thing as a micro-USB ethernet adapter that is USB 3.0 compliant.5Works perfectly with AC791L JetpackWanted to use the Jetpack as a backkup when internet goes out in our house, but didn't have an ethernet adapter for it to plug into our router. This works very well, but it's important to know some things:1. It's not really clear from the product description, but it pulls power from the micro-usb port (it's not power-over-ethernet). The Jetpack can certainly supply the power, but this will draw down the battery power much quicker than normal, so if you intend to leave it connected for many hours at a time, you'll need to add an interface power adapter to power up the adapter.2. To use it with the Jetpack,, first turn on the tether (no Wi-Fi), then connect it to the adapter. The Jetpack will then show on it's display (a) provide power for 30 minutes, (b) provide power continuously, (c) don't provide power. Choose either (a) or (b). The confusion is the Jetpack can also recharge a phone, but it wasn't clear if it can do that AND provide the tether function. The answer is "yes, it can do both at the same time".5Great for Google Nexus PlayerI used this with my Google Nexus Player to give me wired Ethernet since I don't find wireless 802.11 reliable enough with video streaming. All you have to do is plug it in and it works. Nothing to it!5Plugable USB 2.0 OTG Micro-B to 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter works great on Galaxy Tab S2!I wanted to use my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T813) to do some network troubleshooting on my boat's LAN. The OTG adapter was not very expensive, and someone said that it worked with their Galaxy Tablet, so I bought one.It was easy to plug in to the micro-B USB connection on the tablet. I went into the tablet's Connections page and disabled the WiFi. Then I looked further down the Connections page and clicked on "More connection settings". The Ethernet title was not grayed out, but it was bold! When I plugged in an ethernet cable from the LAN switch, the link and activity lights lit up! Touching the Ethernet title, caused the "Connect to Ethernet network" radio button to come up, so I turned it on. The status changed to "Connected". Under the "Configure Ethernet device" title, you get the option to use DHCP or enter a Static IP address. I elected to use a DHCP-provided address this time. So, the next step was trying to use Chrome to browse the Internet. It worked perfectly!Last step was to go to the Play Store and install the free version of Network Manager. I am now able to ping, traceroute, and monitor the LAN.This is a very nice OTG network adapter! I recommend it for anyone who wants a wired ethernet connection for their Galaxy Tab S2.5TRY THIS if your device does not work plug & play...I struggled for a couple weeks with two Chinese tablets (Q88 Allwinner and Supersonic SC-777) with absolutely NO success. Here is what I discovered in the developer options which changed all that:> Settings> "More..."> Ethernet>> Open it if you have this option. It might say 'DISCONNECTED'. Tick the checkbox and it should work. If your Plugable device is plugged it, it should be recognized under Ethernet Devices. Tap on that as well for more options.>> FOR ME ETHERNET WAS DISABLED BY DEFAULT and I had to manually enable it (tap the box) before ethernet would work using the Plugable device. It was NOT plug and play like other posters were suggesting. Was running Android 4.2.2 and 4.4.2.5
