    Speakers slam compared to cheap Big Box Marine Store Speakers! Great speakers!. I run two 8" pioneer marine speakers on my boat as well as these two 6.5"s. I recently switched from 4" W marine speakers to these 6.5" Pioneer TS-MR1640's and I can say that they are a world of difference in the sound and reliability department. Do yourself a favor and buy some Boom Mats to protect the back side of the speakers from salt water corrosion! 5Perfect for RV applications too! These are just the thing to replace the crappy speakers on the outside of my travel trailer. Sound great, and added the necessary tweeters that make music actually sound good. 4I really like them Great sound! 5sounds good amplified. A real good value I'm a JL guy, but I bought a pair of these to just to put up front to complete my system cheaply, they are a decent buy, sounds good amplified. A real good value. 5Sounds Great - Read My 'Install Hints' to help you :) These speakers sound terrific in a marine application. I just replaced them on my Ranger Bass Boat - and Amazon's pricing is outstanding compared to some of the other online retailers. Solid bass and sweet highs - perfect for the water! Install was easy. Two things that will help you during install: 1) In drilling your holes for your speakers - start at a lower diameter ( smaller drill bit ) than Pioneer recommends so that the screws will tighten and adhere to the fiberglass. 2) The speaker connectors on the Pioneer speakers are not the same size for positive and negative ( another reviewer mentioned this as well below ). I crimped my existing speaker wire connectors with my pliers ( go slowly and take your time ) and made them smaller so that they would fit onto the Pioneers. Of course - you can always buy the smaller connectors and rewire as well. Hope this helps you - all in all - very worthwhile upgrade!P.S. One other thing that you need to remember ... when you evaluate how these really sound ... make sure you are using a high-quality music source - like a streaming service ( Spotify ) - or 'FLAC' like track if possible. FM radio will simply not do this justice. 'Garbage in - Garbage out' ... hope that helps! 52002 GMC Pick up front speaker replacement Worked out well .. Factory speakers short out due to moisture these should solve the problem. Pair with GM speaker wire adaptor .. 4 zip screws 5/16 size head held speakers in place. 4You wont be dissapointed By far the best sound for the money. I've had them in my boat for 5 years and they are still like new and now installed some in my other new boat. When I first decided to buy them I was a at a marine store that had like 12 different speakers from very high end to low end. I compared them all and 2 of all the speakers sounded fantastic and the others not so great. One was a very high end like 450$ speakers and the other where these pioneers. I was sold. 5Nice product Nice product for money 4Easy swap for Sony speakers, fit 5 inch cut-out These speakers were the perfect replacement for my 6.5 ibch Sony XS-MP1621 speakers that crapped out after only 2.5 years on a boat that is kept covered when not in use. I'll never buy Sony speakers again. The pioneer speakers fit a 5 inch hole cut-out with ease and the smaller of the two bolt hole patterns match up perfectly to the holes from my sony speakers. Easy swap. The template on front if box is 5 inches, not sure why specs say cut-out is 5 1/8 inches. Either size works. Hope to get more than 2.5 years out of these. I don't love the grille style, but they sound good and they aren't Sony's. 5great works as it should 5
