Customer Reviews

Go ahead, spend the extra moneyI'd give this thing ten stars if I could. The difference between dispensing epoxy filler with a cheap gun versus this gun is so dramatic it was actually a pleasure to do the chore. And it emptied the tube a lot more thoroughly, so this will actually pay for itself. Plus it is so well made it's like using a professional precision instrument rather than a disposable toy. 5Smooth operatorCaulk guns aren't a tool to get excited about, right? I needed something stronger than the typical $5 cheapie at the big-box hardware store and picked this up.It is an absolute joy to use over a toothed-ratcheting caulk gun. The smooth movement is more controlled and just feels nice. I've used it on a 10oz tube of OSI 517 for some work against siding and the job was very easy with this gun (and the caulk itself, but that's a different review) and inside with some latex caulk. The big test will be dispensing some concrete epoxy next spring; I'll try to remember to update then. 5Caulk the World! After attempting to use a standard cheap-O caulk gun to adhere foam acoustical panels in my new Voice Over studio, and getting serious hand cramps and pain from using it, I did some research of reviews on Amazon for the cure.I remembered, back in my days of doing tile work, that my boss had purchased a couple of caulk guns that were much better. So I tried to find something that could do the job and not be such a pain.I stumbled upon (probably the bright green color helped to make it more visible as well) this little beauty.I read the reviews and, with the exception of one not-so-bright guy who ended up with a defective unit (it does happen folks, we live in a flawed world) who kept using it, rather than sending it back ... and a review by someone with rather dainty hands ... ALL of the reviews were absolutely glowing.I'm not sure of what the heck happened between my ordering the product and it getting delivered BUT, it was SUPPOSED to be delivered Next Day ... but didn't arrive for two days later. That would've been a drag if I really really needed it the next day, but as the song goes "I will survive"!So, anyway, once received, opened, and the instructions for oiling the pins dutifully obeyed, I began using it.Oh my ... the ease of the (much more ergonomically-designed) trigger and handle; the ease of the non-toothed, cam-operated (or something of that nature) shaft, made caulking those panels a breeze. This model made the one I was previously using seem like a torture from Satan. It was even better than the model that I used back in my tiling days.Oh, and it comes with a wire seal breaker (tucked away in the trigger) with plenty of length. The things I could've done SO much easier if I'd had this baby beside me before.Oh well, I've got it now, and I don't mind caulking again :) 5Trigger is comfortable and it's lasted a long timeWell made and plenty of torque for those high viscosity caulks. Trigger is comfortable and it's lasted a long time, using hard-to-dispense elastomers. My only complaint is it doesn't have a tip cutter, or wire, to open and perforate the seal of caulks. You have to make sure you have a knife and poker when you go to use it at the site. 4Expensive, but what a great caulk gun!I bought this to dispense PC products concrete epoxy as I was afraid the $5 caulk gun I'd bought long ago and used for ages wouldn't be up for that job. It's pretty expensive for a caulk gun but I'm so glad I did - this thing is really heavy duty and it works great. As stated in the description, it has fantastic "thrust" and you don't need to squeeze any harder than a normal caulk gun to achieve it either. Made easy work of dispensing the concrete epoxy. I don't know if it's because this thing is so rigid but it really "works" differently when applying "regular" caulk too. With my old caulk gun if I didn't immediately release / relieve the pressure the caulk just kept pouring out - this thing makes applying caulk so much easier. You squeeze a little and a little comes out, you stop squeezing and it stops coming out - no more fumbling for the lever to make it STOP already! Makes the whole job that much more enjoyable (maybe tolerable is a better word). So, need a caulk gun that can probably dispense any product that comes in a tube? Might want to give this one serious consideration. I'm guessing even with everyday use it'll probably last forever. 5Strong but HeavyThis caulk dispenser is sturdy and well built. But it is also very heavy. I would go with a lighter dispenser if you are working with it all day long. 4Quality construction and great performanceThis is a high quality caulking gun and by far the best I've ever used. It pumps out less material per trigger pull than other guns but that gives you more control and no pressure drips. It does mean more trigger squeezes but those pulls are highly leveraged and easy on the hand.I tried the gun out on a caulking cartridge brand that had caused rear blowouts on other guns. No blowout on the 900550 - even up to the end. Then - just for the heck of it - I stuck that same empty cartridge into one of my old guns. When I bottomed out this cartridge in the old gun, caulking began to leak out the bottom. Upon examining the plunger head on both guns I saw that my older gun was slightly smaller in diameter and had sharp edges. The 900550 had a larger plunger and the edges were smoothly rounded (perhaps to avoid cutting into the soft plastic of the cartridge?) Also, the 900550 squeezes out much less material per pull thus not building up a large volume with high pressure behind it. It's sort of like hitting a nail too hard so it bends where smaller taps would leave the nail straight. On the down side: No poke wire and no tip cutter. It's also on the heavy side. I can live with all that given the great performance and quality construction. 5This tool is amazing! The first thing you'll notice out of the ...I bought this high-leverage caulk gun after darn near breaking my hand dispensing concrete epoxy from a cheap caulk gun. This tool is amazing! The first thing you'll notice out of the box is how it's heftier than the cheapo guns, and the squeeze action on it is really smooth. I used it to put concrete epoxy in twenty-eight 5/8" x 5" holes, and it was a breeze. It's so easy to squeeze the stuff out of the tube that you have to be careful you don't overdo it. 5You get what you pay for. Worth every penny.I needed to inject epoxy into a couple of narrow, tight spaces. This gun is easy to use (and I mean easy) and allows you to dispense the product at a rate that you are comfortable with. No need for tremendous muscular hand strength to use this gun. I would recommend this to anybody. It is a solid piece of machinery. 5Best ever caulking gunI'm a do-it-yourselfer on a part-time basis. I had those cheaper caulking guns for years. I would get frustrated trying to squeeze out some of the heavier substances, I'm not that strong. Then I purchased this beauty, and caulking is so easy now I almost want to do more projects just so I can use this gun. The thrust is simply amazing, and it's much easier to control the rate and amount of the bead. So very well worth every penny on this best ever tool! 5
