Customer Reviews

It is good for bolts needing higher torqueI have a park TW-2 (now discontinued torque wrench. It is good for bolts needing higher torque. The ATD-1 is perfect for most bolts such as handlebar, stem, seat post, brakes and derailleurs. Buying the adjustable version makes much better sense than buying the fixed torque version! 5Perfect for bike work at 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 or 6 N*mIf you have a carbon fiber bike, you NEED a torque driver. This one is small enough to be carried on the back of your bike and to fit in some of the awkward tight places on the frame. It embeds several tips in useful sizes. My only complaint is that it doesn't cover a very wide range of maximum torques. Some of the screws on my bike are supposed to be tightened to 2.5 N*m and this tool can't be set below 4. Actually, I don't think Park sells a torque wrench currently that works below 4 N*m. Anyway, if this range of torque is useful to you, the tool is perfect. 5which in that case was a horrible mistake because it was jagwire (the expensive stuff) which ...it is expensive, but it is worth it. it is a must-have if you are going to do any precision work on your bike, or just replace the cables. the last time I replaced the cables, I made the mistake of overlooking a torque wrench, and the cables were ruined at the end, which in that case was a horrible mistake because it was jagwire (the expensive stuff) which I not only had to look at and cringe but deal with when it failed from being over tightened. id say spend the money, it might not seem like it, but its worth it, and park tool hasn't let me down yet. 5This is a great torque driverThis is a great torque driver. I bought it specifically because I have carbon parts on my bike. The lower torque value and multiple torque settings make this ideal for the handle bar components, the seat post binder, and anything else that requires the range of torque this tool offers. Of course with Park Tool the quality and craftsmanship of the tool itself if awesome. If you need a low value, adjustable torque wrench, this is one is great. 5It's alright, looks good. It works. It is okay. Could definitely have been designed better. The cap that holds the three additional sized bits in the handle does not stay on very well, it is a loosish fit. Also, not a wide range of torque settings, just 4-6Nm. Doesn't feel super durable. Worried it may break soon. It's not perfect but it does work and there might not be many better options out there. 2Great tool, especially for those who travel with their bikeThis is a fantastic product. I debated long and hard about buying this, since it seems fairly expensive for a tool with one use and only a handful of torque settings and I already had an older Park Tool beam type torque wrench. I changed my mind completely after the first use. It s beautifully designed, the settings are clear and unambiguous and click into place when you turn the adjustment wheel and you can t over-torque the bolts since it slips when the setting is reached. The complaint about needing an allen wrench to go to higher settings is moot since everyone who does anything to their bike has a multi-tool handy which has the correct allen wrench to turn the torque setting on this. This is a great product that I highly recommend and would buy again! 5Typical, beefy Park Tool product, as always. You get what you pay for.I was really turned off by the high price of this, but when I received it, I understood why: it's a hefty tool and weighs a ton! It has a reliable internal torque wrench mechanism, which is why it's so expensive. One thing I like about it compared to the Richey is it has a real positive break point when you reach the torque spec. There is no mistaking it. And of course, this thing is adjustable for torque, although at the higher settings above 5 NM you pretty much have to use an Allen wrench to get enough leverage to turn the adjustment knob. 5Park is develops its tools with such depth, of ...Park is develops its tools with such depth,of understanding,of the cycling context, t is impossible to argue with their clever designs. No different here. We basement bike techs know too well the desirability of torque wrenches. If you are serious about your wrenching, you must torque. Period. But most are behemoths, tools that almost need trolley for transport. Enter the ATD-1 that has a limited range, but captures the range of any of our carbon fiber and small part torquing. And it fits in the hand ergonomically the way many Park tools do. Bravo, BTW, for that. As others have noted, you will need a five mm hex tool to reset the torque setting of the wrench, but the you have a fool proof series of click stops that reassuringly tell you whether or not you have hit your mark. 5ATD 1.2 -- an impressive alternative or supplement to typical small torque wrenchesAll new copies of this shipping now are the ATD 1.2, the main improvement over the ATD 1 being that you can, with a little effort, change the settings by hand if you don't happen to have the requisite 5mm Allen key to hand. It's very accurate, no side-to-side play whatsoever in the head, and with stems, handlebars, cleats and seat posts, not to mention many gear and brake settings, now in the four to six Newton-meter range of this tool (no more 8 to 10 nM stems, for example), it's extremely versatile, possibly saving many people from having to drop anywhere from $50 to $200 on a small torque wrench, and providing others who do choose to purchase such a tool a smaller, lighter and sturdier tool that you can take with you on a ride and that's easier and more convenient to use.I don't think the individual preset torque keys are worth it except in a high volume shop. This device, however, is probably the most obvious torque tool for a home mechanic. You'd need something like Park's TW-6.2 for pedals, crank arms, rear hub and bottom bracket (not too many adequate cheap knockoffs in this category, unfortunately, because so many of the automotive and home improvement-oriented torque wrenches measure torque in one direction only, whereas it's in this relatively higher torque wrench that on a bike you really need both directions); you'd need something like the TW-5.2 or one of the Performance, Nashbar, Amazon or other knockoffs for items such as the mounting bolt on a rear derailleur and the bolt that tightens Shimano STI shifters to the handlebars on a road bike (and here, most torque wrenches are bi-directional but don't need it so much); but this little thing covers all the common running adjustments on a modern bike.Bottom line, this wrench will be useful for anyone with a bike with hex and Torx screws....and for someone who doesn't go so far on their home bike repair as to change shifters, install derailleurs, pull/clean/replace bottom brackets and so on, but rather just keeps up with running gear and brake adjustments, maintenance, and appropriate bike fit, this could be your only torque wrench. 5I almost didn't buy this because the the photos make it look like cheap plasticMost of the reviews are exactly right. I almost didn't buy this because the the photos make it look like cheap plastic, but it is very solid and nice tool.- as people said you do need an allen wrench to get it to 5.5 or 6 NM- the click/release is NOT subtle, it's great- for a carbon frame it covers most stuff youd do at home (steerer, stem, seat) but it doesn't go above 6 NM for derailleur etc (it doesn't claim to)- the cap is loose, i'll probably put some nail polish on it- I wish it came with both T20 and T25... I have the bits around but nowhere to store on the toolAll that in mind, if you look at the tool, and it fits your needs, definitely get it. I would normally do 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the cap and the T25 issue, but I don't want to lower the rating because it's that great a tool and I would encourage everyone to buy if it fills a need.I updated my review from 5 to 3 stars, then back to 4. After multiple close calls the bit that you are required to store in the head finally fell out and is gone forever. Park Tool customer service was great about it... but if you are taking it on a trip you could lose a bit from the head or handle one way or another. If you use it at home mostly, it's a fantastic tool. 5
