Plenty accurate for my needs, but some quality issuesOverall I'm very pleased with this product. It's accurate enough for my uses (woodworking) and it's a fantastic tool to have. Much higher quality than anything you'd find at a big box store, but obviously not Starrett quality. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that the paint job seems quite poor. Mine came with a large chip (like 3/8x1/4 inch) in the 90 degree square head right out of the box, and the entire case was full of small paint flakes. Additionally, the head of the sratch awl fell off as soon as I touched it. I just epoxied it back on, but I don't think I should have to fix tools before I've ever used them. I found the protractor easy to use and very helpful, though off by about 1 degree. All that said I would purchase this again or recommend this product to other people who would use it as I do, where exacting tolerances aren't absolutely required. 4worst tool i've ever seenextremely poor quality. i didn't expect alot for the price, but i expected better than this. i'll give it to my apprentice after throwing away the unusable protractor. don't buy this tool. it is total garbage. if i still had the box it came in, i'd send it back. 1Check all pieces when it arrives to make sure they lock down properly.Nice case....clear scale on ruler. Centering head and protractor work fine....combination square doesn't measure up....i can slide on the ruler and pull it straight up and out...the little finger nail does not hold it in. Too much trouble to return it so i just bought another combination head. 1Very Poor QualityThe scale did not sit flush to the base of the protractor, instead jutting out about 1/8". Furthermore, the protractor itself was off by about 1.5 degrees. Both of these features rendered the protractor virtually useless. Did not bother opening the centering head or square. Returning due to very poor quality. 1I like and would work way better if the blade would ...I like and would work way better if the blade would stay in and not fall out, have had for over a year and just went to use it and that when i found out that the blade comes out, wish could just get my money back 2It is what it is... only a bit betterThis isn't a Starrett --but then if you're looking in this price range (as I was), you should already know that. So the thing is (and why it gets 5 stars), this is the best value for the money I could find (I just don't need Starrett quality for any job I'll ever do with this tool). So it is 'Professional' quality, if your profession is not as a close tolerance machinist. That said I bought this for use with my home shop (10x36) lathe --but it's an old Atlas (although much loved and maintained), and this is about the perfect combination square set to go with it. So for the serious person, that does not require extreme close tolerances (as per Starrett quality --and cost), this is the best deal I could find. I'm happy with this tool. 5Four StarsThanks 4Four StarsI like this square for the price This is my second one as I lost the first one. 4Horrible....Slop in the rule way and not squareThese are absolutely garbage. the finish is horrible.. the rule is sloppy in the way and you have to over tighten it to get it to stop slipping. Purchased three of them - not one read square. Sucks the starrett cost so much, but at least the square is square 1Total garbage, do not buyTotal garbage. Buy the $12 instead if you are after cheap. Over all, parts are painted in places that should not be painted.Ruler is very nice.Square, the lock was poorly cut and does not operate smoothly. The scratch awl, instead of unscrewing from the square, the knurled knob came off the awl. I had to use pliers to get the awl out of the square.Compass, marked within a half degree, but I could not rotate the compass. One rotational lock was stuck and there is paint on the surfaces that need to slide. I had to recut the screws and holes (4mmx.7mm). The sliding lock did not center correctly to slide on the ruler. There are also pits in the sliding surface of the center of the compass.Center locator, is no where near center. The V of the center locator is 8mm. The ruler lines up on one edge, a full 4mm off of center. Useless as a center finder. The lock, like the compass lock has paint in the sliding part and sticks. 1
