Customer Reviews

This "may" be what you want.My wife wanted a handstrap. The one she has for here Panasonic TS-5 is perfect. But the one that came with the camera package had NO slip adjustment. It was just a very large loop - with the attaching part. Therefore it really offered no security.I picked this one because it was about the only thing I could find with a sliding "slip" lock to make it tight around your wrist. I could find nothing like the Panasonic one which has held up for 6 years beautifully. So, this works - looks like it will last.Issues:1. The strap is "stretchy" sort of rubbery - which is fine - but it is wide - and my wife would prefer just a "thick cord" like the Panasonic.2. It is too bulky to get in the Sony case we ordered. So we have to remove the strap (no difficult with the release) and stoy it in a pocket separately. She is considering swapping with the Panasonic one. 4mehthis pertains to the op/tech sling, not the wrist strap which is fine.it's a little long and max's out in range for a bad fit for me. i think the detachable fitting and string (necessary on my sony rx100 though) add to it's design limitations for me; i just could not find a fit that worked (ps, the camera banged against me at all settings), and i'm not impressed w the construction eitheri've gotten the op/tech over the neck strap too and i'll see if that works better for me 3Liked it so much I bought another one - UPDATED in 2018UPDATE on October 27, 2018:I seem to have bought 3 of these straps since 2011. I've lost track of one in the meantime - it may have been on a camera I sold - so I recently ordered another one, this time the polka-dot version. I no longer own the cameras mentioned in my 2011 review and 2012 update. Now one of the straps - black - is on a Panasonic FZ1000, and the new polka-dot one is on a Sony RX100 III. I'm uploading a photo of them. These are sturdy straps. I wouldn't purposely dangle the cameras from the strap, although I've done it as a test (over a well-padded sofa seat). They provide some security when I'm using the camera; if I lose my grip there's a good chance the camera won't crash to the ground.Original review, edited for brevity: I had a neck/shoulder strap on my Olympus XZ-1 I didn't like it. So I ordered this strap. I attached it to my XZ-1 and I like it a lot. This strap feels secure on my wrist when carrying the camera. And unlike the shoulder strap, there's not a long length of strap material to mess with when you're carrying the camera in a bag and reaching in to get it.EDITED on February 19, 2012: Last week I fell for a great deal on the Kodak EasyShare Z990 with 30x Optical Zoom. I got another one of these wrist straps for the new camera, and I like it. Even if a much less substantial strap might hold either of these lightweight digicams, this one is sturdy and comfortable. 5Not suited for interchangeable lens camerasI purchased this cam strap for my Olympus Pen F and I definitely do not feel confident that the mini clip and tether are robust enough to safely suspend its weight (includes a 12-40 pro lens). I also found the mini clip too small and cumbersome to easily detach from the strap; one is basically required to remove their hand from the strap while holding the camera precariously in the other to separate the connection. This serious design flaw defeats the purpose of having a detachable strap / tether - at least on a Pen F or similar.IMHO, this strap is best suited for small point and shoot (fixed lens) type cameras; I don't recommend it for interchangeable lens bodies.I went ahead and purchased the OP/Tech DSLR strap for my Pen F and while the bracelet portion is a bit on the thick side, it serves the purpose of safely securing my camera with room to spare. 3The string snapped; my camera fell on the floorThe string that connects to my camera (Fujifilm x-t20) snapped while my camera was hanging from my wrist. My camera fell from waist-high to the floor. I was lucky it survived, but I will no longer put my faith in these straps. I noticed that the string on the other side which I used for carrying the camera around my neck was also hanging by a thread. These straps might be ok only for very light point-and-shoot cameras. 2Good camera wrist strap but not greatFirst, let me state that I love OP/TECH products. Even though the description states 'Compact', I bought this to use in conjunction with my Opteka Professional Wrist Grip Strap for Digital & Film SLR Cameras on a relatively light SLR.Overall, I'm satisfied but this wrist strap isn't perfect. Here are my thoughts:PROS- The quick release is simple, yet secure, just like other OP/TECH strap systems.- The neoprene is comfortable.- So far, the strap seems to be durable after a month of light use. Let's see how it fares long term. I have seen some neoprene break apart after less than a year of use.CONS- The adjustable ring used to tighten the loop around the wrist isn't usable. It just doesn't slide up and down easily.- The buckles are not compatible with most other OP/TECH systems.- This looks very bulky when used with a compact camera. 4Great StrapGreat little strap. It's soft and comfortable and feels very strong. The only improvement I'd make would be a slightly larger quick release clip that's easier to unclip with one hand. This one requires you to get the tips of your fingers on the little prongs and to squeeze very tightly to release. Not too hard to do with two hands, but since you've typically got a camera strapped to the wrist wearing the strap, it can be a bit tough to use both hands at the same time.BUT, these are the same little clips I already have mounted to my camera, which allows me to interchange straps and unclip from a neck strap in order to just use the wrist strap, etc. so I do like that the clips are compatible with other OP/Tech quick disconnect clips. In the end, I rarely switch back and forth between strap setups so I prefer that these little clips are small, unobtrusive, and slightly difficult to unclip because I never fear that my camera will disconnect without a concentrated effort.By the way, two small quick disconnects can fit into a single eyelet on an OM-D E-M10 body without using the stock key ring strap mounts. I feel this is a smoother surface for those little 1.5mm cords to be rotating against all the time. 5very comfortable on the handsGREAT for the canon g7x mark ii , easy to put into the strap holes and I love that you can get different variations of straps. the clips make it easy to change out.The wrist strap is very soft, but feels like it may soak up water (which you shouldnt be shooting in wet weather anyway so no big deal) the adjustable part to make it tight around your wrist is a little tight and hard to move, but better for not slipping down.I also got this :OP/TECH USA Mirrorless Strap - Camera Strap with Quick Disconnects for Lightweight Mirrorless Cameras (Black) 5Good strap for full day use but neoprene has some drawbacksI bought this strap to "test" it against a leather wrist strap (much more costly) that I have on a point and shoot (DMC LX5). I installed this neoprene one on a DMC LX7. I have used it in four seasons, all kinds of weather, and in a number of different countries. My preference is for an unobtrusive strap and camera as possible, and so I purchased a black version of the OP/TECH strap. The strap did not seem to draw any unwanted attention when it was in use around my wrist and attached to my camera. The quality of the strap is very high. The neoprene is not too thick and is soft and pliable enough to be easy to slip a hand through, even with a glove on. The strap can be disconnected from the camera using a small click lock and I was initially concerned about the possibility of the click lock becoming inadvertently disengaged, leaving the camera to free fall at some inopportune moment. I have not had any such experience in the past several months of use. In fact I have not used the disconnect feature very much, but it's there if you need it. I suppose the safest way to use this strap is to fit it onto your wrist, without the camera attached, and then once it is on your wrist and adjusted, attach the camera. This can be a bit tricky to do using just one hand. The lanyard that loops through the camera lug is quite strong and has not shown any signs of wear or fraying after several months of use.The strap is very soft and comfortable on the wrist. I typically have my camera cupped in my hand, palm facing backward, when walking in cities and towns, with the camera not very visible to someone approaching me from the front or side. In this mode, the strap can be around my wrist for hours at a time. As such, when the weather is warm, the neoprene can be a bit warm around the wrist if you have the strap semi-snugged (there's an adjustable plastic slider that can snug the strap around your wrist to prevent it from slipping off). My leather strap is much narrower, so not as much of a heat band, and as leather will absorb an perspiration, can feel more comfortable in similar circumstances. I have not noticed any odor from the neoprene, even when sweaty, and if there was, it is easy enough to soap up and rinse off as the neoprene itself does not absorb any water. The neoprene is more pliable than my leather strap is, even thought I have used the leather strap much more, prior to getting this neoprene one, so you might think that it would have softened up over time and use, which it has compared to when it was new, but it is still not as soft as the neoprene strap. Each has advantages and disadvantages - minor at that. I would certainly purchase another one of these straps for use with a point and shoot. 4Love the QD system for Fuji CamerasI've bought two of these now, one for each of my Fujifilm cameras. I love the size of the QD system for smaller cameras. I have quick clip on each of the lugs of my X-T1. The right clip I use for the wrist strap, and the left clip I use with the OP/TECH USA 3401002 Compact Sling for Cameras (Black). I also use the larger OP/TECH USA 6701062 SLR Wrist Strap (Black) with my full frame Nikon D750, but the smaller QD system is less obtrusive and seems perfectly secure on the mirrorless system. Highly recommended. 5
