Customer Reviews

Fits into the Op/Tech strap system beautifully. This is perfect for more compact cameras yet ... Fits into the Op/Tech strap system beautifully. This is perfect for more compact cameras yet it attaches to my pro padded strap which gives me an easy load on my shoulder while the strap is much easier to handle with my Olympus E-P5 camera. A great combo for carrying your camera.PS, I also keep an Op/Tech small lens pouch attached to this sling strap to carry my wide angle zoom, this negates the need to carry a camera bag at all for short excursions. 5Rather long for Super Classic Strap I bought these connectors for OP/TECH Super Classic Strap, which I use a lot along with OP/TECH uniloop hand strap. These connectors would have made my system complete with everything connected via uni-loops (neck strap, hand strap and sling). But, sadly these are a bit long for me, even when the neck strap and the connectors are in their shortest settings. I'd say if they made this connector about 6-8" shorter at the shortest length, it would have been perfect size for me. I might eventually buy their pro straps, which are shorter than super classic straps, even if they are rather wider/bigger to my taste. I like these uniloop systems a lot - they hold strong and reasonably priced. If you are worried about the system dislodging by itself, they have velcro protections to secure the connectors. And, all are MADE in USA! 4This adapter allows the camera to be carried in a sling on the side of the body for a quick and easy shot! Changes your Op/Tech carry straps to a sling strap assembly. I am still getting used to carrying the camera on my side, but with this adapter it is easy to reach down and grab the camera and take some fast shots. On the Amazon web page is a video on the left side that shows the setup and use of this strap. The carry of the camera feels very natural and makes for a quick shot very quick and easy. It says only one strap connector is needed, but I used the second one on the left side if the camera for absolute protection. I also had some extension straps and used them as well. It works great! 5Handy, Compact, fast If you already own and love the op/tech straps it would be to your benefit to give one of these a go. I have the extended attachments for the standard strap and used it with this sling and it works great. I have two attachments on one side. I leave them there cause I use them both frequently. I take the two small extensions that are used for the standard strap and connect them together to make a small handle and attach the single clip to the sling. If I want to switch back to the standard strap for a day walk or event I just switch them and leave the single small clip hanging. It's small enough that it doesn't interfere.Handy cause I can interchange it with any of my other straps (Op/tech).Compact cause it fits in my gear bag, in a lens hole with the lens.Fast cause it's just two quick connects to switch between straps and one connect to attach camera.A side note for the person who gave it a bad review cause they said "Only works on the left shoulder" .... Remove the clips from your camera, switch them, reinstall. Now it will work fine on your right shoulder. 5Wait and see The system does everything it says. I like the way it connects to the camera. Have tried other strap systems and did not feel they were as secure. Have not had a chance to spend any time in the field with it yet, so it's hard to tell how it will feel after sometime in use. Being 6'3" and large across the chest. I had to add an extension strap to get the camera to rest just below the hip. Since I had the extensions on my regular Op/Tech strap this was no big deal. 5Great for Op/Tech Strap Users vs the Black Rapid Strap I wish that I knew about this a long time ago. I already own the Black Rapid RS-7 Camera Strap and love it. However, I own lots and lots of Op//Tech shoulder straps, camera straps, binocular straps etc. So, this would have been a great solution to add to what I already have at a significant price savings. I shoot with two cameras lots of times, and got this strap to use along side my Black Rapid strap. But if I had known about this before, I would have bought two of these in the very beginning (I have three now). It's much more versatile for me and how I work. I switch back and forth between using a battery grip and without a battery grip. When I don't use a battery grip, the Black Rapid is using my tripod mount, so I cant add a hand grip to it. With the Op/Tech strap the tripod hole is open so I can add a hand grip, AND use a tripod mount.Since I use more than one type of tripod mount this is a big deal and with the Op/Tech strap a huge advantage. Black rapid has an adaptor for one specific Manfrotto mount, that I own and use. But I shoot a lot of video these days, and the mounts on my video tripods and monopod want take the adaptor without some compromises (i.e. strength, how deep it screws in, etc.).I have since this discovery bought two additional Op/Tech straps to use with the shoulder pads from the camera straps I have owned for years, and now have a much much more versatile system. I don't have to think about what I'm going to be doing that day, and plan out for it. I just grab and go. Anytime I can cut out steps and not compromise to do it, is a huge plus to my planning and NOT planning. I can be spontaneous. And we all know how much of an advantage spontaneity can be in getting "THE SHOT". 5Wish I knew about this earlier I purchased the standard OP/Tech strap a couple of years ago and have been using it without any problems. I recently saw someone with the same strap but camera was resting against the hip, did some quick research did not hesitate to make the purchase and couldnt be happier. I use a Nikon D7000 with 18-300 lens and this new setup really makes it easier and more ergonomically better than the old set up. Highly recommended if you have a heavy camera, this thing will save your back. 5Works but a little short This works as advertised. I used it to convert my regular Op/Tech camera strap to a sling strap, and the online video was informative enough on how to do this. However, I am by no means a large person (5' 7"; but stocky), and I find the strap to be just about adequately sized for me. That's cutting it quite fine IMO.Looks well built and sturdy enough. As regards the system - its good that it is modular, but sometimes I think it is too modular - one has to buy every little thing separately. I recognize it keeps the price down and allows people to buy exactly the accessories they need; but often you don't know you'll need or want an extra fastener or securing option till the present package arrives; and then one has to order again! As regards the system of having the sling attach to one of the side lugs instead of the tripod mount screw; I am undecided. My primary consideration for a sling strap is that the lens shouldn't stick out waiting to get bumped around. Certainly not side ways, and preferably not forward or back either; just be pointing downward then, that's a good girl. Most tripod screw mounting options achieve this quite well. With the OP/Tech solution it is definitely possible to have the lens pointing down; but needs a helpful little push from you every now and then. On the other hand, it certainly frees up the tripod socket unlike a blackrapid (though strangely, my Chinese tripod socket mounting sling strap -some brand called Camden - manages this too - by simple having another tripod screw on the other side of the metal plate - don't know why blackrapid doesn't do this!)It hasn't been much of a problem for me, but I still don't trust it with my Nikon system with its inevitably large zoom lenses mounted on the D600 body (both because of the lens protrusion and also because I am not sure the side lugs will be able to bear the entire weight of the camera and the large lens); I am using it for either of my Fuji bodies and for that it seems fine. 4Not for those of smaller stature This sling adaptor simply cannot be adjusted to fit me. I am 5'3" and slim. I carry a heavy camera and lenses, so I thought this sling adapter when attached to an OpTech pro strap I already own might relieve the strain on my neck. Alas, even at its shortest, this adapter leaves my camera dangling at mid-thigh level, not at all a comfortable way to carry it. There should be some information provided by OpTech to the effect that this strap is for larger people average to large men, and large women. I want to keep the uni-loops, so I will try to give away the unusable strap adaptor. 1Too short This strap is typically comfortable as it is Optech. Nice cushioning, good utility with the well thought out clips and fasteners in the system. BUT the strap itself is too short for me. I am 6ft tall, but I think the strap would still be too short for someone shorter than me. I find that the camera comes up too high along my side when I walk. I think with a "sling" it should be further down on my hip. It is more comfortable walking with my camera lower and certainly much easier to use as I bring the camera up to my face. They sell an extension for the sling, but that is additional cost and less security as you now have two more fasteners that you are hoping will not disengage at the wrong time. 3
