Customer Reviews

It is awesome and looks great love How it plays 6 disc and u can even do on random very cool! I love this onkyo CD player it is perfect for me because I listen to a lot of cds all day so I had a one disc CD player. Now haveing this 6 disc one is a lot easier!I don't have to open up and take out and put in a cd every single time now I can listen to 6 cds that I choose non stop or repeat or if I wanna mix it up put it on random. It also looks very nice and the green light in the middle looks very nice looking better then in the picture.I had it one day and I love like it this much already. 5GREAT FOR PLAYING OUR CD COLLECTION We purchased the Onkyo DXC390 CD changer to play CD's we purchased, mostly, during those years, when everyone said vinyl was a bygone format. Our old Pioneer CD changer was always skipping, no matter which CD we chose to play. To be fair, the Onkyo, also, seems to skip, if the CD is not in the best shape, although I do not fault the Onkyo for this. Particularly, since cleaning the questionable CD's has corrected the problem. CD's do need to be in pretty good shape to avoid skipping.Unfortunately, the CD format is not as fool proof as we were told, when it originally came on the market. Certainly better than Cassette tapes, but no match for vinyl.. Tried and true. With reasonable care vinyl records will last a lifetime, or more. Now that I have revealed my bias for vinyl, I should add that this is a nice CD changer. It has a nice clear sound, although CD's do have a mechanical sound due to their digital nature. That is the nature of the CD format. However, if you have a lot of CD's from those years when CD's were popular this is probably a good choice. I got it due to the good reviews (close to five stars). You should probably use a coaxial cable to connect to your receiver if your receiver or amplifier has a digital port to connect it to. The owner's manual says this will provide the best sound, and I agree. Otherwise, simply use an RCA/ Phono audio connecting cable to make the connection. The player comes with this cable, although it is a pretty spindly cable. I noticed an improvement when I used a Monoprice RCA/Phono audio cable I had on hand. You can get one of these for less than four dollars. I finally ordered the coaxial cable (not included), which is not much more money. To my ears this gave the best sound. The Onkyo DXC390 also, offers an optical/digital port to connect the CD changer. The Onkyo has a number of programmable features I have not even used. I probably won't, either. For those that want these features it is nice they are there. All in all, I don't see how you can go wrong for less than 150.00 dollars. As with any product there are some negative reviews, many of which point to skipping discs. As I mentioned, I encountered the same problem. After cleaning them they now play perfectly, except ones that are very badly damaged. Many CD's have been used in automobile CD players and have probably been miss handled. I know this happened to some of our CD's. The same as with vinyl, CD's need to be cared for properly to stay scratch free, and free of muck. After playing them, store vinyl in the album jacket, or for CD's put them back in their case. Store both vertically. Not a huge choice in this market. The Onkyo seems to rate better than most. I am very happy with it. Love the green sort of bar shaped light on the front, when it is playing. It really improved the sound of our CD collection, when we added it to our surround sound system. I am very happy. 5Down & Out in 3 months 3 months in and the machines brain is not working. The shuffle doesn't work; it plays one disc then stops; skips discs; gives odd readings on its faceplate as to what is happening etc. It was fine for 3 months, now this. I tried all the basic restart things to clear the units computer to no avail. Will try calling Onkyo America tomorrow to see what they say . 1Disposable quality, very poor durablility After years of good service from Onkyo recievers, I bought this Cd player for the 6 disc feature. You don't buy players of this price range for premium sound quality, but it sounded good on my system. After 14 months of regular use, however, it no longer loads a cd from the carousel, rendering it useless. All other functions are apparently intact. Not impressed. Have had other players that lasted years of hard everyday use, so I have to believe that this is an issue of the manufacturers quality control, or simply their indifference to customer satisfaction and electronic waste. Don't waste your time and money to fill the landfill with this one! 1This changer works great! I am very happy with my purchase This changer works great! I am very happy with my purchase. It is large so you need room in a stereo cabinet. Other than the size I am completely satisfied. It plays well without distortion. CDs can be changed while one is playing. Random features work well. I haven't tried the memory function as yet. You will be pleased if you have a lot of CDs that are older. I have mine attached to the surround speaker system for home theater. It sounds great and I can get hours of music, Very pleased customer here.Onkyo DXC390 6 Disc CD Changer 5The Onkyo is perfect, sounds good After attempting to purchase a new CD changer to replace one that passed away, I found that it was quite a chore. I went into two local retail stores asking for "component CD multi-disc changers" and to my dismay, the clerks I encountered had no idea of what I was talking about and showed me to portable "boom boxes". (one of the stores was an electronics store)I realize that I am older but I am not that old (79) and still appreciate listening to my reasonably extensive CD collection and I still purchase CD's, and I apparently wrongly assumed clerks still knew about components. How wrong I was.The Onkyo is perfect, sounds good, works well and fills my empty space in my "component rack". I am now a "Happy Camper". 5Works great. Bought this for my mother to replace a similar Sony 5 cd unit that finally died after 20+ years. The Onkyo player is GREAT. She LOVES it. If you still have tons of cds and haven't yet succumbed to the "just stream it via Spotify" trend, this is a great unit. 5BEWARE! This CD player quit working the 4th time I used it. Says "Mechanical Error" In my opinion don't not buy as it is a piece of junk. 1I'm glad I purchased this so far so good. I was a little gun shy given some of the negative reviews. But I have used this CD changer about 15-30 times with a full 6 cd rack (so 5 hours of playing at a time). some of my CDs are over 20 years old and some are new. it has worked perfect for me. I also use the 'programable' feature to program certain songs on specific CDs (i.e create a playlist of any of the songs on the CDs you put in) - it's always worked for me. I have a Yamaha receiver. I shopped around quite bit before purchasing this. I feel good about my purchase. 5My second really nice Onkyo CDP Took a chance on this CDP from Amazon's Warehouse Deals. Already own a Onkyo C-7030, The reviews seem to be overwhelmingly favorable or negative. That tells me that you have a 80% chance of getting a good one. Mine arrived in perfect condition in the original box inside a sturdy outer box. I imagine a lot of these units get returned because of the size, it is HUGE. For a touch over $100 I have a nice new 6 disc CDP to listen to my ambient/new age music at night. It's quiet and shuts off after it has played what you program. And BTW its sound quality is very good. Not audiophile quality but very respectable.Would have rated it 5 stars but the manual can be very vague about the memory programming features, and it is BIG. Not a major hassle for me, but gets in the way once in a while .Update: In use for 18 months and all is good. Has had plenty of use and still performs like a champ. Must report that it is still big.4-18-2019 All is still good. Works like a champ. Yep, it is still BIG. 4
