Customer Reviews

The most amazing caulk gun I ever used! This is definitely the most amazing caulk gun I have ever used... I bought it specifically for very viscous materials like Sika Crack Flex concrete sealer because my typical big box gun was giving my hand joints great pain and my arm muscles were cramping and that is with using two hands to squeeze out the product; I could never finish a tube in one application because my hands hurt so much. But this gun is a complete game changer! I just applied a whole tube of Sika using just about the pressure of two fingers and thumb. The flow stops when you press the thumb trigger. Hint: when pulling the rod back or releasing pressure, just hold the back part of the handle; it operates very easily that way. The materials, finish, construction and feel of this gun is top quality... get one and you will never go back to a $5 gun... never.5Just buy it and forget the rest.Great caulk gun. I was on my steep metal roof applying some henrys clear sealer and my old caulk gun that was the standard 5 dollar special just did not cut it.. And it met its demise as I violently threw it off the roof after struggling to get it to work.Enter this one... Received it and was pretty impressed with the beefy construction. Back on the roof with the henrys again and this thing squirted it out with ease. Not a dripless gun by any means (you have to press the release button each time to get it to stop) but this thing effortlessly pushed the pluger down the tube and the revolving frame is such a handy feature to have to turning the tube around to get different angles instead of having to loosen the plunger to turn the tube. Overall a great caulk gun- wish I had just got a nice one years ago.5The Best Gun On The Market, HANDS DOWNI am a licensed roofer and use a caulk gun several times a day, every day. OMG I can't believe it took me this long to purchase a REAL caulk gun. The blue expensive one a popular big box home improvement store sells is so inferior to this one its not funny... and they cost approximately the same price. I had a project that required 30 tubes of caulk and without this caulk gun, I would have killed my hand squeezing the trigger. The thrust ratio is perfect, but it does take a little getting used to if you have been using a normal caulk gun for awhile with a lower thrust ratio. It ISN'T drip free and does not claim to be, so just know that going in. With practice you learn to stop squeezing the trigger a little bit early. I have used many many different caulk guns and NONE are even in the same conversation as this one. Next purchase will be a newborn drip free model. I had no idea caulk guns could be THIS good.5Great product for all your caulk and urethane needsI have done a lot of work around the house and have been in the construction/facilities industry for 10 years and I never knew that you could have caulk guns with different thrust ratios (or strengths). I had always used a cheap caulk gun and then complained when I had to use liquid nails. Recently my car window came out of the plastic catch on the operator and I needed to re-attach the window to the operator. In my research, I found that you needed to use a glass urethane to attach the window to the plastic and I had noticed that a lot of people complained about how difficult it was to get the urethane out of the cartridge. I also noticed a few people mention that you had to get a good caulk gun and it would be easy. That lead me to researching caulk guns and to my delight I found this tool. Getting the urethane out of the cartridge with this was incredibly easy, I have also used this with liquid nails without any issues as well as used it for basic acrylic caulk and it works well there as well.5Fine control with a heavy duty gunQuality, heavy duty construction. Easy articulation of the handle makes drawing a 1/4" bead easy.Application for most regular viscosity caulking such as silicone, latex builders caulk, or finish caulking... not for dense asphalt or other viscous caulk- use the 25 to 1 gun for those.Even with it's superb control when the rod pressure is released, it will still overrun- just the nature of the beast. Keep wiping the tip to get the best line without blobs.5I will never buy another caulk gun again! As a previous user of the cheap caulking guns from big box stores I can honestly say that caulking guns are not made equal!Initially I was sure I wanted to splash out $24 on a caulking gun but I am so glad I did - gone are the aching hands from many feet of squeezing cheap caulking guns. This thing is effortless and fast, it does have a positive pressure so you do have to remember to release the pressure at the end of a run but once you get the hang of it you will save half your time - literally.I have not used the nib trimmer but then I prefer not to.The handle is very ergonomic and the mechanical advantage on the trigger is great. Go buy one, you won t regret it.5Worth it's cost plusBefore buying this Caulking gun I had only used the ordinary types. I recently installed 800 square feet of 8.25 inch Hardie Plank siding on the front of my house. This required 14 tubes of caulking to seal all the end and edge joints. What a difference this tool made. The smoothness of operation and the ability to squeeze out very small amounts of material using one hand was great. I paired this tool with the ALWAY TOOL CT31, 3 inch caulking smoother (available on Amazon) as the best ever. I'm a very experienced DIY'er.5Best Caulk Gun I've EVER owned!!! This is by FAR the BEST caulking gun I have ever owned and used!!!While working on a project installing 'faux" rock panels to my home I became pretty frustrated with the caulk gun I had owned for years purchased from one of our local "big box" stores. The faux rock panel installation calls for construction adhesive being applied to the back portion on these 24x48 inch panels. I had 110 of these panels to install!!! My old gun took a lot of effort to get the adhesive out of the container, not to mention this project was taking place in November so the temps were making the adhesive tubes colder and the adhesive inside a bit harder to work with. I finally gave up after two days and thus began my research to find the bigger better caulk gun.In steps the Newborn 250 caulking gun. This thing has a whooping 18:1 thrust ratio which basically means, its pushing out whatever is in the tube you've loaded up into the gun's cylinder/frame fast, easy and with little effort!!!!It's an all steel construction which makes it heavy duty and ready to stand up to the most strenuous caulking job you have planned. Thus far I've applied construction adhesives, roofing tar, interior and exterior silicone caulks and I can only imagine it could handle anything else I might throw at it as a home DiYER:-)Because of the awesome thrust ratio, exertion on my side is minimal as the caulk flows easily and evenly from minimal pressure applied to the caulk gun's handle. I like the fact that it has a substantial piercing rod attached to it to both puncture the caulking tube as well as piercing and cleaning out old clogged up caulking tube tips and caps. The gun also features a caulk tube cutter to snip off the tip of new tubes. As I stated earlier, the construction IMO is pretty superior to the guns you'll find at most stores and the handle is so well made and heavy duty it actually feels very comfortable and sturdy in your hand during use. And the solid pressure rod that does all the work is not only well made but visibly thicker and pronounced to help ensure that force is concentrated where it needs to be; at the base of the caulking tube to give you a full even pressure and steady flow of material. This thing is a BEAST!!! and without a doubt money well spent! I'm basically doing a full house renovation and this gun has seen a decent amount of action thus far and has yet to fail or disappoint.Do yourself a favor and buy one, you won't regret it:-)5Works very well but not drip-freeThis blows those from the big box store away. No comparison. If you want drip-free then you will be majorly frustrated using this gun.I see some reviews knocking this for not being drip-free. It is what it is. It works well and happens to not be drip-free. It is kind of like complaining that your carpet vacuum is not a wet/dry vac. You want drip-free then move along and get a drip-free. I can see where drip-free is a big pain for someone who is fast with one of these. I would not want the lost pressure of the drip-free because that slows the process down if moving very fast. I got used to how it operates and like the gun. I found it faster to quickly use my palm to release the pressure. It operates very smoothly and pressure of gun works well with DAP.I bought 2 of these so 2 people could use at the same time to speed up the job. I was able to move fast enough to outpace the other person who was smoothing out the caulk to the point that I was smoothing out almost as much as them and I was doing ALL the caulking.CONS: The cutter does not cut clean and the attached stick that polks hole in tube needs to be thinner so I can use a smaller hole on caulk tube when necessary.4The best caulking gun I have usedI finally wised up and started searching for a good caulking gun after crippling myself trying to dispense anchoring epoxy using a cheap hex rod gun. I had no idea there were different advantage ratios. This gun has enough mechanical advantage to make dispensing cold urethane caulk easy, but not so much that it can't be used with more fluid silicone and latex products--it's not ideal for them because it drips so readily, but it works ok. I would prefer it if it was a dripless model. The description makes it quite clear that it's not dripless, so it's not really a valid criticism. The tip cutter is the best I've used; the action is extremely smooth; the barrel turns easily but doesn't accidentally slip. The only thing I think they ought to improve is the releasing lever. I try to press it every time I finish a run to make sure the caulking doesn't drip, but it takes some maneuvering to get the lever under my thumb. If you have very large hands, you might find the ergonomics perfect.5Love this caulk gun I have used the sheet metal cheapo caulking guns that most homeowners buy when they need one. But when my cheap one broke, a guy at work showed me the Newborn 250. It is SO much easier to squeeze, much better lever action than the cheap guns. But beware if a caulk tube is blocked by solidified material, the pressure this gun applies will blow the back seal on the tube which is messy. Clear the opening of the caulk tube well before trying to squeeze any solidified caulk out. This is not a "drip-free" gun, you have to press the release button to remove pressure from the caulk tube with each pause in applying, or it will continue to ooze out. 5
