Customer Reviews

beware cable sent was only 4 conductor in 6conductor package advertised as 6 conductor cable and package was marked as 6 conductor cable, but cable was standard 4 conductor cable. had to return it. 1Ordered 6 conductor - received 4 conductor. Pro tip: When a customer specifically orders 6 conductor do not send 4 conductor. I'd return them but the item is so inexpensive it's not worth the trip to ship. 1DOA, only 4 of 6 pins working Does not work, DOA. Used it with my equipment, nothing. Put it on cable tester, only 4 of the 6 pins are connected? Sending it back, surprised Amazon wanted it sent back, shipping cost probably more than it is worth? Don't waste your money. 1Wires swapped and high resistance These cables will work fine if you are not hand wiring and if you have low current applications.Pin 5 on one end connects to Pin 5 on the other. Same for Pin 6. HOWEVER, if you are planning to cut the phone wire and hand wire to it, you might want to know that the blue wire and yellow wire are switched. I have no idea how a cable maker could get something so fundamental wrong, but they did. The RJ11 spec says that Pin 5 should be the yellow wire and Pin 6 should be the blue wire, but they are switched. So when we cut these cables and hand wired to them, the yellow and blue wires were connecting to the wrong pins. Of course you can compensate for their error and swap the two connections, which we did. But it cost us the time of the rewiring, not to mention an hour or so tracking down the problem.Next, when we fired up our system using these cables, we tracked the failure down to too much voltage drop along these cables. According to specs for 28 AWG copper wire, each strand should be able to handle 1.4 Amps and have a resistance of 0.45 Ohms for the 7 feet. I was sending 1 Amp down the wire which should have produced less than 0.5 Volts of drop along the wire. Instead I was getting about 3 Volts. Sure enough, when I measure the resistance of each strand I got a little over 3 Ohms, more than 6 times what I was expecting. So either the wires aren't really 28 AWG but smaller, or the wire isn't really all copper, but something more resistive like aluminum. I don't know which, but if you are counting on normal low resistance copper wires, you will be disappointed by this product. I guess I should have known better than to shop for the cheapest price. I got what I paid for.Having said all this, if you are just looking for a telephone extension cord and don't expect to run much current through it, then this cable might work fine for you. 1It isn't wired right. Not wired as a straight through as described. Do not buy. 1It is a LIE. 4 conductors NOT 6 conductors Seriously how can one not see that this only has 4 conductors and not 6 1Yaesu FT-2900 packet radio cable (bad fit) I bought this to make a packet radio cable for my Yaesu FT-2900\TNC. The RJ12 connector must be pushed in and held into the ft-2900 microphone jack to work. Just an FYI if you thought of doing similar, good value and cable quality otherwise. I need to find a better rj12 jack. 4RJ12, is 6 conductor. Same connector as RJ11 I needed this for my ICOM ID-5100A radio. The included cable is too short when I move the radio to the trunk. The 5100 has a remote head. This fits the bill perfectly. Looks Like a RJ11, but RJ11 is 4 conductor and RJ12 is 6 conductor uses the same jack. Thank you! 5Replacement for 1st on that was incorrect This was a replacement for the first order of this item that was incorrect. It too is only a 4 wire & not a 6 wire as I ordered.I don't know what is my next option. 1Good Product Pretty basic item, but served the purpose needed for my technician who will be using it for programming. Pretty good price compared to other vendors. 5
