Customer Reviews

Didn't workThe item I received would only use the ratchet function as long as the driver head was held between two fingers. If trying to use it to unscrew; the ratchet function did not work and instead you need to pick the handle up and use as a regular screwdriver...total fail. 1Not strong at allNot for real job. Forget to use it to tight something. Because it has lever I assume it should allow some force to be applied. But once I did a tooth fly off from ratchet mechanism. Same on second attempt. Hopefully flying pieces missed my eyes.Only for tiny and short screws. 1Good build quality for the priceI bought this ratcheting screwdriver set to disassemble an IKEA shelf wedged into our laundry closet. I don't know how we managed to get it in there in the first place, but once in, we weren't able to get it back out.Overall, the tool is fairly high quality, with a good heft to it. It feels reasonably well made and sturdy for the price. The design is quite possibly as low profile as a screwdriver can physically get without compromising usability (by resorting to non-standard attachments). The bits are universal, making it versatile with a wide variety of screws. I can use bits from my cordless drill and other screwdriver sets.Really my only complaint, and it's a big one, is where the ratchet toggle switch is. Because of how tight my space restriction was, I had to hold the tool by the head for leverage so that it aligns with the screw on the shelf and allow me to apply the proper torque. This caused me to touch the toggle and flip the direction, adding extra hassle.Other than that, I'm happy to have this tool in my toolbox for future situations. 4The overall quality of the tool is decent but it has one major flaw...I bought this because I needed a Phillips head to work on something where I couldn't get a regular or stubby handled screwdriver in the space. A ratchet screwdriver was the solution.- Unfortunately, this model doesn't have a way to lock the supplied screwdriver bits into the receiver on the ratchet. This means that when you turn the ratchet over to use it - the bit just falls out. -The true solution would be to magnetize the receiver in the ratchet for the screwdriver bits (or magnetize the bits?). Without this, it is really frustrating as the instant you are trying to get it into the space to remove the screw the bit falls out. I wrapped a piece of tape around the bit to make it stay, but I feel like I shouldn't have to retro-engineer a tool that I just purchased.Didn't even try the sockets (which do have a locking ball bearing like a regular ratchet).Sorry Neiko, but I had to return it for a refund. 3The right tool for the work saves time, agony ...The right tool for the work saves time, agony, and most importantly gets the job done right. So many times before I had this product I've had to do so much extra work or mess up the screw hole just to get to some screws that not even my 1-inch long screwdriver will get to. For example, many parts in my computer, car, and cabinets have very restricted areas where I would have to remove half of my computer components, take apart half my dash, or bench/stretch wood in my cabinets to get to. Or sometimes I would get lazy and try to angle my screw in, and as many of us know when you don't go in straight with a screw you are asking for trouble. Now I am saving time and getting the job done right. 5Good value.I have the tendency to go on and on in reviews so I will try to make this quick. The bits:Not the half@$$ed chrome I expected, but a nice sandblasted finish. Bits seem harder than I expect for such an inexpensive tool. The handle:It s two pieces of punched sheet metal with a black painted finish. The sides are made of plastic. There are no sharp edges or burrs. The metal plates are kept spaces by a rivet at the end and at the pawl to serve as the pivot. The ratchet mechanism:The pawl is punched sheet metal with a rough chrome finish. The spring and detention for the pawl are housed in the handle itself. Selecting direction is easy, smooth, and positive. The bit holder and ratchet gear look to be cast and plated. The gear teeth have no burrs or rounded over edges.Bit holding is not by magnetism like I read in an answered questioned but by a small hairspring wound around the racket with the end serving as a crude detent. It all out of the way and can only be seen through the small crack between the ratchet and the front plate. There is a flange on the back to keep the bit from pushing through entirely.Overall very well made for the purpose and price. Yes, it could have had the punched edges smoothed out, but since it has no bearing on performance, it makes since to omit it to keep cost down.Overall a great tool for your pocket or, like me, and small tool bag to keep in my desk at the office. Would recommend. 5When called for, the is all that will do.While attaching a fan cage to a hvac motor I needed to secure an allen head set screw to attach the fan to the motor shaft. Because the fan was so small, getting a turn on the set screw with a regular L shapped Allen wrench was impossible. Pulled this handy ratchet out, threw a 5/32 hex bit in it and was able to easily torque the set screws. WIthout this tool I would have had to uninstall the fan from the motor shaft, try and locate exact area in fan to drill out holes extremely carefully, and pray they line up with set screw. Also I was able to apply ALOT of torque while tighting the screws with no signs/ feelings of failure, compared to the L shaped Allen key which would only allow a 1/4" turn. The ratchet mechanism is stronger that it appers. I believe it's beyond a bargain for a tool that will save you so much time and agrivation. If this tool just does one thing like that for you, it has beyond paid for itself. This is a tool that will only be used a hand times a years, but will save you countless hours of agrivation, money, and sanity. 5Good for furniture kits, not great for door knobs. This tool will work for installing door knobs but it will still scratch the knob until the screws are almost flush with the plate. Still need another screwdriver to get the screw tight enough to use this tool unless you can hand tighten. Per another review, you can use some painter's tape to protect your door knob surface but I am going back to the phillips head allen wrench for door knobs. The tool is good for putting together furniture kits, like dressers or desks that often have tight spaces on the insides where the parts connect. The ratchet feature really helps for this versus turning the allen wrench endlessly. 4Only 1 inch thick. Great for working in tight spaces. But select carefully. See the pictures.Only 1 inch thick. Great for working in tight spaces.I bought another one thinking it is the same thing. They are not. See the pictures showing the difference.Get this one. 5An optimistic person writes a negative review. Now, I approached this tool with a hopeful mindset. I thought, even, it could be a tool I'd have by my side...in my pocket everyday working as a painter.Sadly, my optimism took a hit when I tried using this on a job and it proved completely ineffective.Simply put-in a tight spot- trying to tighten or loosen a screw did not work. The racheting mechanism kept loosing it's place. I had to keep clicking it into it's place. It wouldn't stay put in the desired respective righty tighty or lefty loosey positions.I would not have bothered to write this review had there been a potential to return this item.I also would not have bothered had I been a rich man who could buy and dispose of things whenever I please. So, now I am disappointed . I see there are other reviews that are good-the reason I bought it- I'm left with the hope that maybe I got a dud and others are fairing much better with their newfound miniature tool. 1
