Great Stands for the money!I read a ton of reviews and looked at all sorts of stands. Went with this and so far I love them. Just needed something to hold my monolights and other lighting. Very impressed for the price. The base spans out nice and wide. Very simple to swap from the 1/4 to 3/8 with the removable head. Feels spring loaded as you adjust the height levels so they don't go falling down. For this price you cant go wrong, and if they break..well just buy another set!5What a beautiful tripodWhat a beautiful tripod with amazing stability, compatibility and durability! These heavy-duty stands are actually lightweight in itself, and they're quite easy to carry when it is folded into the bag (not included). And they are much higher than me, so every penny spends a great value!5Trust Neewer's customer serviceI had bought this set in 2018 to use in my home studio and liked them very much as they are sturdy and strong. The legs are spread wide enough for more stability. So I've ordered one more set recently to use for outdoor shoots. Unfortunately, one of them had problem. A little rivet(?) supporting the spring inside the main pole broke into two pieces. I was disappointed as it was my first time to actually use it outdoors.It was Monday when it happened. I sent an email to Neewer with photos of the problem as proof. Next day(Tuesday), they responded with promise to send me a replacement, asking for my shipping address and a copy of the order invoice with seller information and order number. I sent the info right away. On Wednesday, they responded that they would send me a replacement and it would take 5-7 days. Next Monday, I received the replacement. They didn't ask me to send back the old one. Even though I can't use it, I will keep it so if anything goes wrong (I hope NOT) with one of the other ones I have, I will try to use this broken one for part.I buy Neewer product from time to time and this was my first time to have an issue with their product and the way they handled it assured me to remain loyal to them. So I'd say you can buy this with peace of mind because in worst case, they will promptly take care of your problem, if you will ever have.5Seems to be reliable.Stainless steel materials look very corrosion resistant and durable. It's foldable and can be folded to a height of about one meter against the corner when not needed. This light stand is lightweight, but is said to carry heavy duty studio lights. Comes with a sturdy locking function.5Great build quality at this price rangeStrong and sturdy. We'll have no problem trusting this stand with our more expensive monolights. I like the wide stance ... if you spread the legs out completely, the distance between the feet is 38", so it's pretty stable. Much better than the cheaper stands costing just a few dollars less. Well worth the additional few bucks to get much better stands. See the photo showing the cheaper (black) stand next to it. Other reviewers have noted the rivets on the cross support as a possible point of failure, and I agree with that. But, since these are going to pretty much stay in the studio and not be lugged around much, I'm not very concerned about it - I still give it 5 stars because of the price.5They seem well made.I'll let you know how they hold it a year or so down the line. I own Manfrotto and PBL Light-stands so I have a point of reference for quality. One thing to note, is that the pivots on these stands are rivets instead of bolts and washers. It may be possible to drill them out and add bolts (Like the PBL stands). This seems like the only probable point of failure on the stands.4Good if you like it shinyI have a more expense Impact stand and I found this stand comparable to it minus the air-cushioning. I would easily trust an expensive monolight on it. Ultimately, I opted for the black, aluminum version also from Neewer for two reasons: price - the black pair is about $20 cheaper - and presentation - the stainless steel shows a lot of fingerprints. The stability in both Neewer products is outstanding.4Love them!These are wonderful for portable flashes!! Before these, I used one of two types: a C stand and the cheap ones that are like 2 for $20. The C stand is great-- like others have said, they will out last the photographer. But they weigh about as much as a photographer.They are pretty close to perfect. I bought the short set for portability. They fit nicely into a telescope bag I already had, and are tall enough for situations where the subject is not too elevated from head height of the photographer ( flash unit actually). If you have the subject on a big rock, you may want to get the taller stands. But for me, they are tall enough , and very portable. They are a bit longer and only a bit heavier than my old cheap stands. Love them!2019 Update: I had one issue that was a pain to deal with until I learned how to fix. I over torqued the nut and it stripped the threads. I recently learned about helical coil inserts and bought a kit for M5 threads on Amazon . Installation is fairly easy and now the nuts are much stronger and I have no issue tightening. My recommendation to the design team is to add some sort of insert to fix this issue. Even the cheap plastic knobs from other manufacturers have inserts, so it won't make a big difference in cost. So until that is fixed, I suggest a DIY helical coil install on all for knobs, then you don't have to worry about the stand during a photoshoot.5Make the upgradeOver 20 years as a hobbyist photographer, I'd never had a proper light setup. I was really put off by the price of high end equipment and low quality of the budget stuff. Well, these stands are perfectly in the middle to meet my needs. They are far more sturdy than the black thin aluminium stands that fall over with a mouse's fart. They aren't very light but they shouldn't be! You aren't hiking the Himalayas with your kit, so there's no sense in worrying how heavy they are. I'm easily able to use one stand to hold my monolight and the other holds a reflector. They also look pretty darn good too.5Sturdy stand; sturdier customer service!We have similar stands (the taller ones) from Neewer where I work, which is a not-for-profit. We found them to be nice and heavy and solid; an improvement over some lighter ones. I liked them so much I bought this shorter pair for my own use on low budget projects. Great value.I did run into a problem: one of the T-knobs would not tighten. I contacted Neewer and they offered to send me a replacement stand right off the bat. I was very happy with that response but I said, let's just try another T-knob. They sent four! Strangely, none of them solved my problem. I asked them if they could check another knob for me but they said they would be happy to send me another stand. They did and it works great. I was very pleasantly surprised to get this level of service, especially as I think it had been some time since the original purchase before I had gotten the chance to set up the stands. I had a strange problem and they stuck with me with pleasant email correspondence. Seems unusual these days. Very encouraging. I will certainly do business with Neewer in the future, no doubt of that.5
