It survived 8 days of class IV+ white water with a Dslr camera inside it. Not a scratch or drop of water.This is the best watertight box I have ever used. I use this to hold my Nikon d610 with an extra lens when I go white water kayaking. I bought the box specifically to protect my camera when on remote rivers running class IV and V Rapids in a kayak. I couldn't be happier. The box fit in my kayak's seat with me. Kept everything dry and from banging around. I would buy Nanuk boxes again and again. 5Perfect fit for my projectWe decided to go with this case for a special project where we needed a hard protective case that we could install an inside face plate for an electronic controller. These cases are pre-designed with an inner lip that is designed for mounting a panel. The lip even has screw holes so installation of our control panel is very easy. We tried other well-known cases but we had to secure the faceplate with screws or rivets coming in from the side of the case, compromising its water resistance. These Nanuk cases are built extremely well (even better in our opinion than the "p" brand), the handle is more robust, and the double-action side latches give it the more futuristic look that we desired. Also you can open the latches and fold them all the way open and they "lock" out of the way until you release them. Nice feature if you want the latches to stay out of your way, which we did.Well-priced, well-built, well-designed and the color options are great.Note that this case does NOT come with the foam inserts, so if you're expecting those you will need to choose a different part number that has the foam. 5Love this boxRight, it doesn't have a front latch but doesn't need one. Super tough difficult foam.Excellent easy latches, difficult foam.Both the Nanuk and its well-known competitors are strong, waterproof, very durable, with excellent foam protection. But the Nanuk has MUCH EASIER LATCHES with no sacrifice in quality or security. The Nanuk just clobbered the other guys in their design of the latches. So easy, never hurts my older, slightly arthritic hands. Excellent.The Nanuk foam is a mixed blessing. The foam is very, very tough. Very difficult to cut out to fit my equipment. Long slow process. I have tried sharp knives, serrated knives, scissors. After an hour I am still only half way done cutting just two simple circles. On the other hand, I suppose that this super tough foam stands up to heavy use, lasts a long time.A trade off. You have been advised. 4Not a great caseThe case is made of nice material but it is not waterproof. My case leaked after six months in the rain. The latches seem well built but does not pull the lid tight all the way around the seal. Also the foam is not easy to pull apart. The pelican cases are way better. My pelican case has not leaked and the foam is easy to pull apart. 3Best case I've ownedMy roommate owned some Pelican and they are top of the line. I own Nanuks. They fell more sturdy and the latch handles are more secure and easier to operate than Pelican. Whenever I open a Pelican I feel like I'm going to break a finger nail or scratch myself because it is too hard to pull up on the latches. With Nanuk, it locks tight, but there is another easier safety release that you push, making the latch very easy to release. I feel like a child can safely latch and unlatch Nanucks, but not Pelican. I often have to slap the latch of Pelicans in order to latch them close. I never have to do that with Nanuks. The case stays together tightly and securely. The foam was a little more difficult to cut out than I expected but it works well. 5
