Customer Reviews

DO NOT be fooled by the Moen name. This is cheap, flimsy crap. Moen used to be a quality name in bath fixtures. Congratulations to the engineering department and upper management, in order to save production costs and boost your bottom line, you have successfully driven the quality of Moen down to "utter crap", cheap, flimsy, "crap". The tubing is so light and so thin it feels like plastic. This is a piece of junk. DO NOT be fooled by the Moen name. It no longer stands for quality. 1I have this same holder in satin nickel and I love everything about it Form and function is a 5. Color is a 1. It's basically painted brown. It doesn't have the oil rubbed bronze look at all. I have this same holder in satin nickel and I love everything about it, so I bought this one for my other bathroom remodel. I went ahead and installed it because my wife was getting tired of not having a TP holder, otherwise it would have gone back. The good thing is that I haven't ordered a towel ring yet so I'll be buying another band for sure. I have the Moen Banbury faucet in Mediterranean bronze and it looks A LOT nicer. I love it and would recommend it as a faucet, just don't buy this Moen line of accessories! 2Keep looking I wanted a toilet paper holder that did not require two hands to change the toilet paper roll. I loved the look of this one and bought the towel rack to match. It was easy to install and I used a level to ensure it was exact. Due to a little space in the stem, it is not level once I tightened it. The holder also has a small allen screw to keep the paper holder still. It doesn't stay tight and swings. I am sad the holder is not more sturdy. Moen can make a better product than this one. 3Excellent purchase I needed a toilet paper holder that would fit properly in a very tight space. My other hardware in the bathroom is oiled bronze but not the same manufacturer; so I was hesitant. I'm glad I decided to order it--it holds a super large roll of toilet paper, blends beautifully with all hardware, and allows me to replace a standing paper holder that was always in the way. It also has the benefit of easy toilet paper replacement--a vast improvement over the old standard spring-loaded variety. 5Great look for the loo This is a nice metal, oil rubbed bronze product. The weight and sturdiness of it impressed me considerably. It is very attractive, but a little darker than I thought it would be. It has very little peek-a-boo bronze coming through. I was afraid the toilet roll might come off too easily towards the end of the roll, but the arm is curved just enough to prevent this. It works well with the larger sized rolls also. It was easy to install and enhances the look of my loo. 5Stylish Holder, but Unforgiving Mount Design My old paper holder would pinch the larger rolls, especially when the roll was new. This would prevent the roll from freely spinning on the holder. I purchased this paper holder because it prevents that problem and is more stylish besides. The holder itself is hinged, allowing it to swing away from the wall. If you don't like it swinging, you can lock it into any position using the small Allen wrench that is provided. My main concern with the holder is it took me 2 attempts to mount it to the wall. The first time, I used a level to mark the positions for the mounting bracket screws. After completing the installation, the holder was not at all straight, but noticeably tilted in one direction -- i.e., the holder itself was not parallel to the floor. The mounting hardware itself is designed poorly, not allowing any angular adjustment in the mount once the bracket is fixed to the wall. All mounting parts are "squared-off" making the installation quite solid, but unforgiving. After uninstalling the holder (and patching the drywall), I observed that the bracket holes are not quite aligned with the holder itself. (Hopefully this can be seen in the photo.) Thus, making the bracket holes level on the wall makes for an uneven installation. My installation tip from installation #2:I used a piece of double-faced tape and taped the holder to the wall in the position I wanted. I removed the hardware, leaving the mounting bracket still taped to the wall. I marked the holes, then completed the installation. 3Nice looking, practical I am pleased with this product. It looks nice and all rolls of TP fit on it which is why we got rid of the old one. I suggest putting the open part facing the opposite direction of where the TP will be pulled. We mounted this the other way and the roll kept being pulled off! The mounting screw is not all that noticeable if it comes out on top. It is just a nice looking, practical item.As an example of my suggestion, if the holder is on the side and behind the user then face the opening to the back. If the holder is on the side and in front of the user then have the opening face away from the user. If the holder is in front of the user then it really does not matter. 5Good Quality, Firs Large Rolls Overall, happy with this purchase. Good quality, matches our other bathroom hardware (even the non-Moen hardware). We replaced the "traditional style" toilet paper holder (with the spring-loaded middle piece) with this one, so I think we're still getting used to the fact that the roll moves when you're trying to pull it off. One of the benefits is that you can use any size roll--that was one of the issues with our old one--large rolls wouldn't fit. 4Nice but . . . The only thing I would caution buyers about is that if you need to reverse this unit, be aware that two screws will be seen from the top. These are the same color but they still show somewhat. 4Sturdy and looks good I bought these to use for hand towels. I installed one " backwards" or "upside down" to get the opening to the left and it looks fine, the set screw is small and unobtrusive so no worries there. I've attached photos of the backwards one so you can judge whether seeing the set screw would bother you. 5
