Customer Reviews

Good camera for the priceI purchased this camera in order to have a way to keep an eye on my pets while I am away from home. Shipping is super quick; it was delivered to my home the next day without expedited shipping, though I do live in the Urbana-Champaign area where the warehouse is located. Once receiving the camera, set up was super easy. All I had to do was download the (free) Meshare app on my phone, make an account, follow a few simple instructions (power up the camera, wait until the blue light begins flashing, and put a QR code that appears on the screen of your phone just in front of the camera). I notice that other reviews on this camera stated problems with set up, but I was seeing live video in less than 5 minutes while on my lunch break from work! After using the camera for a few weeks now, I am pretty happy with it. The video quality is good, with Low, Standard, and High Definition (LD, SD, and HD) options available. I have noticed that when using the HD option, though the video quality is great, the feed on my phone will end up delayed a few seconds. This doesn t really take away from the experience when just viewing the feed, but could potentially be a problem when using the camera to interact with someone. When using the LD and SD options, the live feed has no delay that I have noticed and the quality is still adequate. Infrared night vision feature on this camera works great, and though the Meshare camera does not feature pan and tilt, it has a decent field of view, so I have not really felt a need for it while using the camera in my small apartment. Some aspects of the camera that I believe could use some work are the microphone and speakers meant to be used for two-way audio. The microphone on my camera produces too much static to be very useful, and the speakers are very quiet with no way to adjust the volume, though they do work.I have not tried using the microSD video storage, and it looks like the cloud storage is still a work in progress. I plan to update my review once I attempt to use the recording options. I have taken screen shots and recorded video using the in-app options with no problems. These are neat features to have when my pets are in view of the camera. You can also receive notifications on your phone when motion is detected by going to the device settings menu and turning on "push alerts". A snapshot is taken when motion is detected which is a nice feature as well.Overall, this is a nice camera for the price with potential to be even better. I would recommend it to others who are looking for a decently priced camera to keep an eye on their home and pets while away.4MeShare Camera ReviewSetup - Extremely easy to get everything connected and ready to go. However, I did have a few times where the live feed wouldn t connect due to my internet connection being too slow. That was a bit surprising because we generally get very high download/upload speeds. I m not sure if this is an issue with the camera though but it was a bother at times when I was first trying to test it out.Hardware - The actual camera seems well made and sturdy. The back of the camera did seem hot to the touch but I m not sure if that s something I ll need to be concerned about for its longterm use. The microphone isn t great but it s also not something I care too much about knowing that I m using it more for the visual aspect. The picture quality is good. It s not an HD picture I m receiving but it s clear enough. I can t really compare the quality to anything but my Samsung baby monitor, but the viewing angle is definitely much wider. I do appreciate that the cable it comes with is very long so I could place it almost anywhere to get a good view of the main areas of the room I place it in.Overall - The only real comparison I have to a product like this is my Samsung baby monitor. For the price (this was almost $100 lower), there are definitely more benefits to the MeShare over my Samsung monitor. Viewing angles and picture quality are better. With my monitor, I feel like I need to put it in the exact right position for it to work and it doesn t help that the cord is not very long. I do like that I can always be in range of using the camera because of the iPhone app. Although, I do wonder how long my iPhone battery could even last if I practically used it as a monitor to constantly view my child s naps, etc. Other than that, my main use for the camera will be for when we are out of town. I love that it offers me the peace of mind that I can just check in on the house every so often just to make sure everything seems to be in order.Final Rating - 3.5 out of 5. The rating would increase for me once I became more familiar with the product and began to use it on a consistent basis.4Great for the price, better value than other WiFi camerasI have a Dropcam, but it's currently sitting on the shelf. I had nothing to complain about the quality, but the fact that you need a cloud subscription (which costs at least $10 per month) was ridiculous, and it had me looking for other options. I also tried the Simplicam, which also requires a cloud subscription (but theirs is $5 per month). It had some neat features, but streaming and playback was a huge pain. The app and interface looked nice and they had great features, but it took so long to buffer and view video that I eventually got tired of it.This camera was a great alternative and it addressed those two issues nicely. Dropcam's interface does look a lot nicer, and it runs smoother, but that doesn't make MeShare bad. The streaming and playback was fluid, the app actually looks really nice, but best of all? It's free! This camera is one of the few to support local storage (insert an SD card up to 64GB) for nonstop recording. There's also going to be cloud storage options coming up, and I'll update more when it does, but as of now you have a free storage option with the full set of features (alerts, sharing, etc.). It also runs a lot faster than Simplicam, which is a huge plus when you consider everyday use.The video quality is on par with Dropcam and Simplicam. When buying these products, don't expect HD-DVD quality video or you're going to be disappointed. But they all have great video quality in their own rights, and the HD resolution is a huge leap from analog video. I read some reviews that mentioned poor two-way audio, but my camera's audio was actually pretty good. It was clear, albeit the speaker could be louder. Still don't think this would be my go-to device for conversation, but I never planned to use it for that anyway.I'm using this to watch my living room right now, specifically to keep an eye on my 3-year old golden retriever. It's good peace of mind when I'm out of town and people come over to walk her--just to keep an eye on them. Not only that, but I can check in periodically in real time and call her name while I'm at work; seeing her ears perk up and look helps me get through the day. I also use one to watch my front door, and one to watch my basement door. Altogether, these 3 cameras cost me a one-time payment of $360. The same setup with Dropcam would have cost me $600 plus $20 per month for cloud recording (it's half off for each camera after your first cloud subscription), and $450 plus $11 per month for the Simplicam (40% off after the first camera). Simplicam has less features, but costs more with slightly worse performance. Dropcam has higher quality and performance, but make no mistake, you will be paying a hefty price for it. MeShare was the perfect middle-ground for me. You should note that the app does crash every now and then, but it loads quickly and is just one of the small compromises that you make for a terrific value.5Great Security Camera with promising features comingInitial impression of the Meshare Camera is that it's a great product. Lots of features in a sleek user interface with flexibility for different applications. The packaging it came in is also well done. Little things such as the box not being difficult to pull apart is much appreciated. Instructions were also simple and presented in a pleasant graphics. The lack of a physical instructions pamphlet was a bit disorienting but managed to get by with the FAQs support system on the Meshare website. Still would be nice to have a booklet or pdf file online detailing the specifications and functions. The camera functions very well and the picture quality is satisfying. Smooth frame rates and the night vision works well. The only issue I found was that the camera switched from normal camera to the night vision automatically. If this was a manual switch that the user could select on the Meshare app, it'd be great. Otherwise the audio and video portion of the camera looks great and that portion of the product feels well made too.The Meshare app looks good too. I'm using an iPhone and I had no problems downloading or connecting the camera to the wifi with the app. The fact that you can share moments with other people is a cool feature to look forward to. Pictures that are saved from the camera are also crisp and exposed well even when it's night time. Only thing that I couldn't figure out was how to save the pictures to my phone. I'm assuming you can transfer the pictures to a computer via the sd card but having the option to save a picture from the "Events" tab in the Meshare app would be nice. The only other feature that I had an issue with was that the camera was unable to connect to a wifi network that didn't have a password on it. We keep our network hidden with no password. I attempted to connect it with no password but the connection timed out. Once a password was created for the router, it functioned properly. It's not a big concern as most networks will have a password but something I thought was worth noting just in case.Overall I'd give it a 4 Star rating as it's a great product but not perfect. Everything comes together well but the package lacks the polish and refinement making it a 5 Star camera.4Best Buy for the moneyGreat buy but there's no way to turn the sound off and still show motion activity. We live in a noisy area with planes flying over & trucks go by. We bought because last year several xmas packages were stolen from our front porch. We've had it since 1.5 months and we know when anything comes to door and we keep it on our phone in case we need later on. There's no subscriptions to pay for and we had an easy install. Excellent camera for the money. We bought 2 , but have only used 1 so far.5Nice live feed from your phone! At first I had difficulty with the camera connecting to the wifi, but after I contacted meshare about it they quickly sent me an rma number. They made the return process so fast and hassle-free. When I got the second camera, there were no issues at all with connecting. I really appreciate how nice and fast they were in getting me the new camera. It's really cool that you can see a live feed of what your camera is pointing at. I think it's a good idea for pet monitoring because you can speak through the camera and listen to the noises in the room the camera is in. The microphone function works through your phone remotely and you can talk into your phone, but actually be talking from the camera. The mic on the camera is clear and loud. Perfect for talking to a dog or cat while you're at work. The listen remotely function was a bit staticy for me, but still pretty clear. I think they coolest thing is the control you have just from your phone. The picture quality is quite good too. The camera relies on your wifi connection and uses it to upload the feed to your phone, so if you have a slow wifi connection or a slow phone the camera might lag, but I didn't really have any troubles with that. The footage is also really clear in the dark. I like that the camera can record so much (a week's worth of footage) on a little sd card. There is also light detection, when the lights go off the camera goes red aroung the rim and the IR night vision turns on. The motion detection is also perfect for pets. All in all, a really cool camera that connects a live feed to your phone, and perfect for pet monitoring.5Two of them work great, the other one only connects sporadicallyWell, our neighbor had one which seems to work seamlessly, so we ordered three of them. Two of them work great, the other one only connects sporadically. NONE of the cameras recognize the scandisk memory card, nor provide correct options on the web or smartphone to have them do so. I have tried calling this company several times (MeShare Company)..I am fed up with the lack of response and same recording. SHAME on you, Amazon, for allowing this company to dupe us. I am trying to get a refund via Amazon, from which I ordered these useless cameras.2A quality cloud cameraThis cloud camera packs with many features, such IR night vision, WPS WiFi connection, two-way audio. The package also helps to make the camera looks and feels like a great product. The Meshare App is also well designed, simple and elegant. However, I did run into a problem during the setup: the App was consistently failed during WIFI configuration of the camera. After contacting the customer support, I was told that they were updating cloud server and apologized for the inconvenience. And indeed in a couple of days, I saw the camera showing up in the App, and everything seemed to be working well. So, I consider this as a rare glitch, and I'd give their customer support a thumb-up. I haven't got the chance to test the two-way audio yet, but I am already happy with the image quality of the camera, and enjoy the convenience of watching the video from the App. That said, there are a few things you might want to be aware of: a. As other reviewers pointed out, the camera can become pretty hot after being powered on for a few minutes. I think Meshare could do a better job in power management of the camera. b. The round cylinder of the camera body can be rotated. In my case, the camera came out of box with it's LED light in the lower-left corner. If you don't like this position, you could rotate camera to set the LED light in the position you like. c. Be sure to use the latest version of the APP, and update the firmware. Looks like they had a major system update recently, and earlier version was not working very well. Overall, this is a quality camera, and does the job that I beyond expectation. I would rate it 4.5 if I could.4I would say that MeShare cam has met all of my expectations and I am quite pleased with the purchaseI made a purchase of MeShare cam back in January, 2015.Our home recently had a newborn, so we were looking for a WIFI cam that can be used for an all purpose baby monitor in the living room. Overall, I would say that MeShare cam has met all of my expectations and I am quite pleased with the purchase. Here are the positives:1) MeShare cam has all the bells and whistles of WIFI cam technology.- Great video quality 105 field of view, 8x zoom, and 720p HD Video. Looks very sharp.- Night vision - pretty mazed by the quality of seeing in the dark.- Motion sensor - receive notifcation when motion is detected. Never thought I needed this, but I can have a piece mind, knowing my home is more secure.- Video storage and backup to cloud or SD storage (up to 64gb)2) Great priceConsidering how it has all the latest techonology of WIFI cam, $119 is a great price - especially compared to the cost of other WIFI cams of similar caliber (ex: Dropcam - $215).3) Easy setupIt took me 5 minutes to set up the whole WIFI cam, download the mobile app, and run the cam though my IPhone. It s very easy to setup.4) Great mobile and web app with secure sharing onlineI honestly think the strength of WIFI cam is its great mobile app. Since I had the cam for a couple months, there have been few updates, which improved the visual presentation and the functionality of the app. I was very impressed to see the video stream on my IPhone and on my laptop through a browser. It s very cool. Here are the negatives:1) Cheap plastic casing - Initially, when I receive the MeShare webcam, I was a bit disappointed by the quality of the plastic casing that seemed light and weak and also the stiffness of the stand which was hard to maneuver. But I realized that these two issues didn't matter in the long run after the WIFI cam was setup. Because WIFI cam is not like a smartphone, you don t touch and handle it everyday. Once the WIFI cam was setup in its place, I didn't have to touch it again and it's been working perfectly.2) Two way talk function - when you speak through the mobile app to speak through the WIFI cam. My voices comes out distorted and it never sounded right. My family told me it was creepy, so I stopped using it all together.4Waste of moneyWaste of money. Goes offline for no reason at all, Meshare app doesn't load half the time. Haven't been able to use it for weeks now. Nonresponsive customer service. I'll never buy another MeShare device.1
