Customer Reviews

Replaced my 10+ year old pair I don't really know how old my old pair of Mexchanix gloves were, but they lasted a long time. I finally wore holes through a couple of the fingers. These seem to be at least as good as the old pair... hopefully even a little better. Comfortable, sturdy. Just like they should be. 5Great gloves for the DIY guyLove these gloves! I only use the mechanix brand when doing any kind of motorcycle or automotive work. The give me great dexterity and protect my hands from sharp metal edges. My first pair I purchased in 2012 are worn but they still have some life left. I have since added other styles of this brand to store in my car for emergencies, my tool box, and around the house. I will say the the new versions of the original do seem a little thinner than my first pair I bought in 2012 but they get the job done. Highly recommend, if your a diy or car guy do yourself a favor and save your hands with these.5i love these!!!!! I love these things! they are so kool looking, they ARE light duty, I use the snug fitting size, my hand is average so I use a large. they may be a bit undersized by size. so keep that in mind. and they will loosen up after a while. you can still feel the nut, bolt wrench etc. with them on. and the hi viz color helps when you leave them on the work bench, lawn mower, etc. they help when you work around a hot engine to avoid burns. they are not asbestos so keep then in mind. I use them when riding the mower, gives more grip when you are sweaty. I also wear my left one when I go fishing. it keeps my hand from smelling fishy, and keeps me from getting a fin while removing the fish hook. I use them when doing yard work, running the weed eater, hedge trimmer etc. they will not stop a thorn, but you don't expect them too. I keep a pair in the truck, on the work bench as well as other spares. just neat useful gloves that give a better grip. 5Perfect FitGreat gloves in a wide range of sizes. I have small narrow hands with short fingers so finding gloves that fit well is difficult. Finding gloves that fit well and hold up in dirty jobs is even harder. I ordered a few sizes to try and ended up loving the X-Small. I use them for working on vehicles, hooking up trailers, hauling stuff around, etc. I'm currently rebuilding a 1983 Jeep Scrambler, so there's plenty of dirty work to be done. No complaints - great gloves!5I've bought too many I've bought countless pairs of these gloves. They look and feel great, but they don't last as long as I'd like. They rip around the finger tips often (for me at least). I use them for everything so I have a different pair for whatever I'm doing (working on cars, around the house, etc.) 43XL actually fits!Great product, as are all Mechanix Brand gloves ... these are 3XL and they are really sized correctly ... some 3XL gloves are just FAT and WIDE, but these are LONG also ... they fit my huge long-fingered hands (I m 6 feet 7 inches tall) and the fingers are actually long enough!5Decent Gloves, Manufacturing varies I've had several pairs of these, I ordered 2 pair recently from Amazon (red & camo). The gloves I purchased from Amazon were manufactured in Vietnam and the fit and stitch quality was very good. I purchased another black pair from Walmart, which were manufactured in China. The chinese pair had a noticeably worse fit & I did also notice some poor stitching. I'm not sure if Wally world has a different contract with Mechanix Wear or what. The amazon pairs were cheaper to boot...These gloves do the job & are still thin enough to allow dexterity for most tasks. I need to be able to use a pen while I work so these are good for my uses (automotive setting). They do however, like all gloves in this style, wear out. Mine last me about a month with 40+ hours of use a week. They tend to wear through at the finger tips, but like I said that is to be expected with the amount of use and abuse they take. 4Disappointed with mechanics gloves I expected more. I had mechanic s gloves on the past and have lasted a lot more than this pair they got worn out on the finger tips faster than an off brand from home Depot. Will not buy any more. 2Low quality gloves. After a few hours use, one of the gloves tore at the seam around my knuckle and that's because what I was using them for was some pretty light duty work. $18.00 down the drain. I bought some $11.00 CLC Custom Leathercraft gloves 5 years ago and have used them regularly for all types of work and they're still in tact! I'm just going to order a couple pair of those again. I wouldn't even say these are for light duty work because that is what I was using them for and they couldn't hold up to that type of work.1It was perfect for the jobI was building a large shed this winter in AZ and found one of these gloves lying in the road. It was relatively new and seemed much lighter weight than the full leather gloves I had been using. I thought it would provide both the protection and dexterity needed to protect my hand (I found a left glove, not a full pair) and provide the "feel" needed to pick the correct nail, staple, etc from my pouch with my left hand. It was perfect for the job. It also had the benefit of being easy to put on and take off once they were soaked with sweat. The hook and loop closure on the inside of the wrist keeps them secure and does not interfere with their use. It also keeps out debris like sawdust and dirt. I would not recommend these if you are handling spiny vegetation like cactus and other similar plants. The spines will easily the penetrate the leather palms and fingers.5Best and most used gloves I own. These are great. This is my second pair in 5 years which means they last a very long time. I prefer the original material because I can still get great feel thru the gloves. Most gloves numb down the project you re trying to work on, but not these. It s also great, when you are finished, to take them off and have clean hands. The Velcro keeps them secure and in place. They are a little stiff when you get them so it takes a few uses to break them in. They can also be washed and that restores them to almost new. These are a win in my book and you should really take a chance with them. They are better than anything sold in stores around me locally and I ve tried a lot of different gloves. I use these the most.5Didn't last 3 days!I work in an automotive garage where I work on vehicles all day long. I needed a pair of gloves to help protect my hands for my daily use. Bought these gloves thinking they might last me a little while, I received them on Tuesday, started wearing them Wednesday. By Friday they had holes in the fingertips as you can see in the pictures. NOT HAPPY!1Most Important Tool in the Shed The first thing to do when you begin a chore in the garage or shop is slip on these Mechanix work gloves. They fit perfectly. They provide protection for your hands while giving you the tactile sense you need to do relatively delicate work. Whether you are handling sharp objects like scrap steel or glass, Mechanix is the best option I've come across. If you're just starting, this should be the first tool you purchase. If you've been struggling to find a work glove, look no further. 5Fairly certian there are fakes being sold through hereBought a pair for my job and loved the gloves, just everything was right about them. The fit on them was perfect, the velcro was duriable and gripy, plus they breathed well. But then someone for some reason stole the gloves, so I had to buy a new pair. And at first i noticed a view things that were different, the velcro was a lot weaker and also has holes of the side of the fingers which the previous pair didn't have. But I assumed I just got a different version of the same glove, that just had little changes made to it (which isn't unheard of).But after some time using them I began noticing various faults with the product. The most notable is the velcro just straight up failing to be velcro, and it started out weak. So the gloves no longer seal up. Also how the material is poorly trimmed in a view places. And the wrist area isn't sized currently either, were it doesn't line up when you go to velcro it.So if you plan to buy be aware, since someone at the QA department has messed up here. Thus you might get a good pair of gloves or ones that struggle to stay together after a short period of time.2Okay as far as oven mitts goHaving developed significant wear including holes in the fingertips after using these gloves 20 to 25 times for DIY maintenance on my vehicles, it dawned on me that these gloves were actually oven mitts. How could I have been so blind not to realize this before I got them dirty! My oven mitts were ruined! Okay, it's either that or the quality this product once had was traded for quantity in order to increase profits. But wait, that doesn't ever happen in this day and age and shame on me for even thinking it!Back to my oven mitts. I do hope Amazon corrects the product description to clearly indicate that the intended purpose of the gloves is for taking hot dishes out of the oven. What a great gift for mechanic's spouses who love to cook! Used as oven mitts these gloves will certainly live up to the longevity that its brand at one time conveyed. On the positive side, I thought these gloves were very comfortable. There is also no denying the stylish design. If you plan on using these for nothing more than occasional light duty work, you should be fine. For anything more you would be wise to have one or two more pairs on hand.Quite honestly the quality I expect is in part driven by how much the product puts me out of pocket. At $5.00 for the pair of gloves I would have given 5 stars. At $8.00 4 stars and so on. I would be VERY willing to pay more for a product whose quality and durability have stood the test of time.In the mean time, I will continue my search for some quality mechanics gloves that will stand the test of time under the stresses and uses befitting of the quality this name brand carried with it at one time.UPDATEI see the price of these gloves is now around $8.50. Perhaps due to Black Friday weekend sales. I would be open to buying another pair or two at that price point. If I do, I'll write another review and rate appropriately given the price point.2Great gloves for the price. Great gloves, good fit, dexterity is better than expected. They've lasted through rebuilding a dirtbike, tree work, and building a deck. After all that, they're barely frayed. Also, I'm able to unlock my phone with them on, can't text but that isn't expected with gloves over 2mm thick. 5Good gloves, but don't expect them to last more than a few months Typical of all of these gloves, they're comfortable and easy to move in, but the fingertips wear through. Good for doing fine work with small parts, wrench work, plumbing, mechanical and maybe running conduit for electrical, but if you're going to be doing any serious work, roofing, masonry, heavy equipment maintenance, a thicker, tougher glove will be better. 4The pair I got are probably fakesI believe the pair I received are counterfeits. They look right on the outside but when put on, the inside seems are so poorly trimmed there's no way these could be legit. I have worn 3 other pairs of Mechanix brand gloves in the past and they where excellent. I turned these inside out and in some places a quarter inch of excess material running the whole length of the seem in the fingers was untrimmed. I trimmed most of it with a pair of scissors but they still feel like dollar store cheapies. I suppose it could just be a random pair that slipped past quality control but either way the review still applies.1Fits great, functions great, and they look awesome too. Excellent for under $20. Big win. Some reviewers have posted that these gloves are different from the some of the models that this brand produced a few years ago, but honestly, I can't tell a difference. I owned the same pair while doing rigging electrical work in college and these feel very similar. They are solid, tough, snug fitting gloves that will hold up for all kinds of use. I'm 6'1" and 185 lbs with average size hands for my frame, and the Large size is perfect. I use them for small home and auto projects (and yard work too). In addition, they have a sporty look that stand out and look very cool in person. The colors are vibrant and the velco straps hold up well under repeated use. 5
