Customer Reviews

Can t go wrong with these These gloves are the old reliable of the Mechanix line. They are the all around workhorse, and can be used in most situations. They make other, speciality gloves, if you need them, but these can handle most everyday tasks. 5Great gloves for the DIY guyLove these gloves! I only use the mechanix brand when doing any kind of motorcycle or automotive work. The give me great dexterity and protect my hands from sharp metal edges. My first pair I purchased in 2012 are worn but they still have some life left. I have since added other styles of this brand to store in my car for emergencies, my tool box, and around the house. I will say the the new versions of the original do seem a little thinner than my first pair I bought in 2012 but they get the job done. Highly recommend, if your a diy or car guy do yourself a favor and save your hands with these.5Perfect FitGreat gloves in a wide range of sizes. I have small narrow hands with short fingers so finding gloves that fit well is difficult. Finding gloves that fit well and hold up in dirty jobs is even harder. I ordered a few sizes to try and ended up loving the X-Small. I use them for working on vehicles, hooking up trailers, hauling stuff around, etc. I'm currently rebuilding a 1983 Jeep Scrambler, so there's plenty of dirty work to be done. No complaints - great gloves!53XL actually fits!Great product, as are all Mechanix Brand gloves ... these are 3XL and they are really sized correctly ... some 3XL gloves are just FAT and WIDE, but these are LONG also ... they fit my huge long-fingered hands (I m 6 feet 7 inches tall) and the fingers are actually long enough!5Our Techs Love These Our technicians love these gloves. They protect their hands and are comfortable. We order them in a variety of colors so each Tech knows which ones are his.UPDATE: There are 2 versions of these gloves. The ones we initially ordered, made in China had a very good velcro fastener that worked well. The latest batch we received, manufactured in Vietnam, are a slightly different material and the velcro only works for a few times of putting them on. We are very happy with the original made in China gloves - and unhappy with this latest batch.I never thought I'd say I preferred the product made in China.... 5Comfortable work glove I bought a pair of glove at Autozone and they were very stiff. It made it hard to grab small parts. I like these much better and they were only $2 more. (No idea how long they'll last.) 4Low quality gloves. After a few hours use, one of the gloves tore at the seam around my knuckle and that's because what I was using them for was some pretty light duty work. $18.00 down the drain. I bought some $11.00 CLC Custom Leathercraft gloves 5 years ago and have used them regularly for all types of work and they're still in tact! I'm just going to order a couple pair of those again. I wouldn't even say these are for light duty work because that is what I was using them for and they couldn't hold up to that type of work.1It was perfect for the jobI was building a large shed this winter in AZ and found one of these gloves lying in the road. It was relatively new and seemed much lighter weight than the full leather gloves I had been using. I thought it would provide both the protection and dexterity needed to protect my hand (I found a left glove, not a full pair) and provide the "feel" needed to pick the correct nail, staple, etc from my pouch with my left hand. It was perfect for the job. It also had the benefit of being easy to put on and take off once they were soaked with sweat. The hook and loop closure on the inside of the wrist keeps them secure and does not interfere with their use. It also keeps out debris like sawdust and dirt. I would not recommend these if you are handling spiny vegetation like cactus and other similar plants. The spines will easily the penetrate the leather palms and fingers.5Best and most used gloves I own. These are great. This is my second pair in 5 years which means they last a very long time. I prefer the original material because I can still get great feel thru the gloves. Most gloves numb down the project you re trying to work on, but not these. It s also great, when you are finished, to take them off and have clean hands. The Velcro keeps them secure and in place. They are a little stiff when you get them so it takes a few uses to break them in. They can also be washed and that restores them to almost new. These are a win in my book and you should really take a chance with them. They are better than anything sold in stores around me locally and I ve tried a lot of different gloves. I use these the most.5Didn't last 3 days!I work in an automotive garage where I work on vehicles all day long. I needed a pair of gloves to help protect my hands for my daily use. Bought these gloves thinking they might last me a little while, I received them on Tuesday, started wearing them Wednesday. By Friday they had holes in the fingertips as you can see in the pictures. NOT HAPPY!1Ok, at least they look cool Look good, don t last very long. Buy multiple pairs, 2/8 of the gloves I got each have a small hole in a fingertip. 1/8 have a side seam splitting open. Not ideal for hard usage. Moving boxes is enough to wear these out quite fast. I ve had the gloves for Less than a month. You get what you pay for. 3Great Protective Gloves, Exactly as Described I teach teenage girls who have learning disabilities, & one of the classes I design is for practical mathematics. The class I'm teaching this year is about geometry & its practical applications, so having been a designer & builder of furniture for years, I decided that I would teach my students about building & repairing furniture along with seeing all of the geometric principles in action when we plan projects. I'm extremely safety conscious & definitely don't want my students to hurt themselves as they are learning how to use the different tools (mostly "mini" power tools) that I'm teaching them to use. Thus, we employ safety goggles & I have my students use gloves to keep their hands safe from cutting themselves. I didn't think I'd be able to find a pair of gloves small enough for one student who is rather petite, but these fit her perfectly. They're heavy & just right to protect her fingers, but not so heavy that they affect her manual dexterity. I'm very happy with their fit, their function, & design. I would definitely recommend Mechanix Wear gloves to anyone who is searching for a way to keep their hands protected no matter what type of project in which they're involved. They're just what was described on the site, & they didn't disappoint. 5bigger than expected I wear a large in most gloves out there (motorcycle, biking and snow sports)...but this large is a bit bigger than expected...I would say it in between Large and XL. Beyond that the gloves are what you would expect from the Mechanix Wear - Original Work Gloves...simple and durable....YES they are great for working on your moto or automotive needs....hot or cold parts and climate. 3Great quality. This brand and type of glove is what my husband requested. He uses these for his occupation. This is a replacement pair for the worn out pair he had before. The quality is great and they last longer than other brands he has used. 5Fairly certian there are fakes being sold through hereBought a pair for my job and loved the gloves, just everything was right about them. The fit on them was perfect, the velcro was duriable and gripy, plus they breathed well. But then someone for some reason stole the gloves, so I had to buy a new pair. And at first i noticed a view things that were different, the velcro was a lot weaker and also has holes of the side of the fingers which the previous pair didn't have. But I assumed I just got a different version of the same glove, that just had little changes made to it (which isn't unheard of).But after some time using them I began noticing various faults with the product. The most notable is the velcro just straight up failing to be velcro, and it started out weak. So the gloves no longer seal up. Also how the material is poorly trimmed in a view places. And the wrist area isn't sized currently either, were it doesn't line up when you go to velcro it.So if you plan to buy be aware, since someone at the QA department has messed up here. Thus you might get a good pair of gloves or ones that struggle to stay together after a short period of time.2Okay as far as oven mitts goHaving developed significant wear including holes in the fingertips after using these gloves 20 to 25 times for DIY maintenance on my vehicles, it dawned on me that these gloves were actually oven mitts. How could I have been so blind not to realize this before I got them dirty! My oven mitts were ruined! Okay, it's either that or the quality this product once had was traded for quantity in order to increase profits. But wait, that doesn't ever happen in this day and age and shame on me for even thinking it!Back to my oven mitts. I do hope Amazon corrects the product description to clearly indicate that the intended purpose of the gloves is for taking hot dishes out of the oven. What a great gift for mechanic's spouses who love to cook! Used as oven mitts these gloves will certainly live up to the longevity that its brand at one time conveyed. On the positive side, I thought these gloves were very comfortable. There is also no denying the stylish design. If you plan on using these for nothing more than occasional light duty work, you should be fine. For anything more you would be wise to have one or two more pairs on hand.Quite honestly the quality I expect is in part driven by how much the product puts me out of pocket. At $5.00 for the pair of gloves I would have given 5 stars. At $8.00 4 stars and so on. I would be VERY willing to pay more for a product whose quality and durability have stood the test of time.In the mean time, I will continue my search for some quality mechanics gloves that will stand the test of time under the stresses and uses befitting of the quality this name brand carried with it at one time.UPDATEI see the price of these gloves is now around $8.50. Perhaps due to Black Friday weekend sales. I would be open to buying another pair or two at that price point. If I do, I'll write another review and rate appropriately given the price point.2For serious mechanic work, this is what you want. I've bought these for years, and I can never find anything better. Easy to carry items. Good finger dexterity.takes a lot of punishment. It's been my goto gloves for at least 10 years. 5Nice protection, less dexterity They make clean up easier after things like removing tires. Keeps all that road dirt off. They are not nimble enough for work requiring dexterity (I had trouble picking up a washer), but they offer nice protection for all sorts of other tasks in the garage and elsewhere. I usually remove them and put them back on several times during a job depending on requirements.Wash them in the washer and then AIR DRY or they will shrink and begin to unravel at places. 5The best work gloves ever. I've been using these for over 20 years. I also keep a spare set in my car in case of car trouble. They take a serious beating, but unlike many other gloves, are extremely comfortable and hold up. I gave 4 stars only because I miss the original flat Velcro wrist straps. Nothing else has changed, but the newer style strap is a little thicker and snugger. 4The pair I got are probably fakesI believe the pair I received are counterfeits. They look right on the outside but when put on, the inside seems are so poorly trimmed there's no way these could be legit. I have worn 3 other pairs of Mechanix brand gloves in the past and they where excellent. I turned these inside out and in some places a quarter inch of excess material running the whole length of the seem in the fingers was untrimmed. I trimmed most of it with a pair of scissors but they still feel like dollar store cheapies. I suppose it could just be a random pair that slipped past quality control but either way the review still applies.1
