Customer Reviews

For me - they work perfectly I had read through the reviews before purchasing. I still decided to purchase these lights because they appeared to offer all of the features I needed. I could find nothing else like it. I have to say that I am glad I did. My experience with these lights has been excellent. Unlike the Maxxima MLN-50 (non-motion sensing version), this model does not, in any way, inhibit the use of the lower outlet when plugged into the top outlet. It is bright, very bright. The sensor is adequately sensitive and the dusk-to-dawn sensor prevents daytime triggering - provided it is in a location that receives enough daytime light to activate this preventative sensor. I had no quality issues, and both lights worked right out of the package. The motion sensor is accurately advertised as having about a 15-ft range at about a 100-degree angle of view. In our kitchen it works perfectly as-is. In our bedroom, where I wanted it to trigger for those late night bathroom runs, I found the sensor had a wide enough field that our movements ON the bed were enough to trigger it to turn on. This was very simply corrected by placing a small piece of black vinyl tape over the top 1/3 of the motion sensor dome - limiting its field of view to just a foot or two above the floor, but full view side to side. This simple mod made it work perfectly in our bedroom. The light is a very bright, yet unobtrusive, soft blu-ish white. It remains on for about 1 minute, then resets and turns off. As long as the dusk-to-dawn sensors receives enough light during the day - the night light does not trigger on with motion during daylight hours at all. I'm very impressed. In fact, I'm ordering two more; one for my garage, and another for my patio screen room. The product is modestly packaged in a standard "store peg display" blister package. My order arrived in a thick padded envelope by standard USPS. I had no issues with damage or even denting of the package - however, I guess you can never tell - Maybe mine wasn't manhandled, whereas another customer orders could well have been damaged by rough shipping. This was not an issue I had. This is the brightest LED nightlight I an aware of. Bright enough to light a garage (at least enough to find your way) - but not so bright that, in our bedroom, it won't wake one of us up when the other person triggers it for a late night bathroom run. For me, it works perfectly. I would highly recommend it if a bright, motion-sensing nightlight is what you want. 5BEST NIGHTLIGHT I HAVE EVER HAD 4.9 STAR Update 09-21-14 Got two more, now up to four. No more turning on lights to go to the kitchen or bathroom. With two in the bathroom I do not have to blind myself with 8 x 60 watt bulbs.Really need a electric plug in my stairway on the landing. Might look at battery nightlight. One triggers at almost 20 feet just about straight in front of it.As I said before a wider angle of motion detection would be better. ( I need to test in a hallway to really tell. Also wish the light coming out the top was on a slight angle away for the wall for a bounce effect off the ceiling.day three, I need one or two more, they are almost perfect. Not sure if 170 degree motion is possible, will do some testing in a hallway. They are GREAT. Why turn on hall lights when you have these ? Houses need more electrical sockets, and maybe some higher up, and in stairways.I HAVE ONLY HAD THEM FOR 2 HOURS. I am using them in my basement. I never write a review that quick, but these are just what I wanted. They turn on when you are about 45 degrees and within 12 feet which is almost exactly what I need. While I would like a 170 degree field of view, 90 works for me. Tomorrow I will see if they don't turn on when the sun is up, but even if it turns on it will be on less than my sunset to dawn ones as these only stay on for one minute after motion stops. They get a little confused with the lights in the room on. If the light is on and I trip them with motion they stay off. If I am within their motion sensor and turn the lights off they turn right on. I will update this over time as I test them out.I will try them in my upstairs hallway. They are bright for a night light. They throw enough light to cover a room. Remember they are night lights, and when I say cover the room I mean with enough light to walk around and see the floor. If you go on the far side of a couch you will not see the floor.Marked 0.8 watts with five LEDs, they throw light out and up. Best nightlight I have ever had. Will buy more once I see how they last. 5LED Motion Light that you'll wonder how you lived without These motion night lights are the best.I'm not the one that likes lights running at night, I like it dark to sleep and even a nightlight in the bathroom glowing is too much light for me. I installed at first one of these in the bathroom and loved it so much I had to buy more packs so we could put one in the kitchen, on the basement stairs, laundry room, and additional bathroom. The light turns on only when you need it, when your in the room. The light is plenty bright to see what you are doing in the bathroom (not for reading though) but not too bright to wake you totally up at night. It turns on and runs for about 45 seconds unless additional motion is detected.I find myself leaving the lights off when I go into the basement as the motion nightlight is plenty bright enough for me to sagely climb the stairs or walk in the basement without fear of tripping over the pet.I had some relatives over and one of them commented on the nightlight so much that I ended up giving her one for her own home. She afterwards commented how much she loved having it. Simple devices make life so much easier...PROS:- Low Voltage LED- Uses very little power- Will illuminate a 10x8 bathroom no problem (not a reading brightness though)- Only on when you want it on- Bright enough to see what you are doing without waking you up too badly at night- You'd better buy the multi-pack or you'll be buying again- Runs for about 45 seconds unless more motion detected- Have been using now for about 2 years without a failureCONS:- Wish I had found these a long time ago (I hated the 7watt nightlights)- Cat runs by it to see in her litter box (I though they could see well in the dark) 5I am hooked! You will be too! Full disclosure, I am addicted to night lights! I am very near sighted, and 59 years old, so I don't see great in low light. And I Iike the idea of lights turning on when you enter the room, and turning off automatically, from a practical and conservation viewpoint. So I have a mix of different nightlights spanning the designs of the past two decades. Some of the early LEDs were disappointing, very dim, made me hesitant to buy LED night lights. But then these came along. THESE.ARE.THE.BEST.I.HAVE.EVER.SEEN!!!!!!!They are responsive and bright. I could ask for nothing more in a motion-activated night light. There is nothing at any Big Box close to this. Can't comment on cost, these are so good I don't care and therefore have not researched the alternative costs, because I can't imagine anything else as good.I bought two, then four , then tonight decided to ditch ALL of my old pre-LED night lights. I just ordered 10 (yes, 10). I'm going to replace every old night light and even put a couple outside, I consider them a good burglar prevention tool, as they light up when something moves.Since they are LEDs, very bright, responsive, and will last many years, the cost is somewhat irrelevant. It is very comforting and reassuring to walk through the house at night and have these light the way. Buy several, you will not regret it!!!! 5Pay the extra price for the "Motion Activated" lights over the "Sensor" model I'm just repurchasing a pair of the Motion Activated variety night light from Maxxima. The "motion" sensor works and the light turns on only when it is supposed to like if you get up in the middle of the night for the fridge or bathroom.I have no trouble recommending this model as the light is good, better than the various other brands I've tried, and the motion feature works as advertised. For $19.99 a pair I am absolutely pleased. On the contrary I have also purchased and used the "Sensor" model offered by Maxxima at roughly half the price of the Motion Activated model and I don't recommend it. The "sensor" just doesn't sense, it stays on all the time unless in direct light - which defeats the purpose of a "night" light. So if you are looking for a quality night light I think you will find it worth the extra $5 a unit to get the superior functionality of the Motion Activated model.Good luck! 5Impressivly Bright. I have a black cat who loves to greet me in the hallway at night when I come home from work.. Unfortunately he just doesn't get I cant see him and we may or may not have had a mishap of him being stepped on. This light is perfect, when I come in the house from the garage it triggers and it lights up the hallway and I can see everything including my little buddy. It stays on for 90 seconds and then its use is done.I don't have kids but a friend of mine purchased one to put in his hallway between his room and his daughters room encase she gets up in the middle of the night (shes 2) she can find her parents without feeling lost and yelling out and scaring the bejeezus out of him. 5Works GREAT I have motion sensor night lights throughout our 2 story house, to eliminate having to turn lights on as you walk through in the evenings. This is the brightest & has the best range of them all! 5These lights work great for stairs and hallways I did a lot of research before buying, and glad I did because these are great lights. I wanted to be able to light my inside stairway area at night without having to turn on ceiling floods. These have great motion sensors and electric eyes built in. They wont come in daytime or when regular lights are on in the house. But if you are in their range, and turn off the house lights, they light immediately. The motion sensors pick up movement up to 20 feet away if they are facing you, less if you are walking toward them on the side of a wall. I have them at the top and bottom and at the landing. When I walk out of my bedroom at night, they light in sequence well before I am in the stairs, creating a nice, but not too hot on the eyes, ambient light. They also have a 60 second timer, so after I leave the area, it turns nice and dark quickly. I liked them so much I bought spares just so I would have more if any ever fail, but after 6 months, they are still going strong, with no loss of intensity. These would also be a good light for a closet.I did notice that on the one light that was placed at a corner outlet (where two walls meet), sometimes it would flicker as the light from the side wall reflects onto the sensor. It's an easy fix if that happens. Just cut a small rectangular piece of stiff paper and tape it in between the light and the sensor (extending out as a "shade" over the top of the sensor about 1/2 inch). I found that will prevent the sensor from being affected by reflected light. The lights on flat walls did not do this. I suspect all lights of this type would have the same issue. They also have a nice looking case, as some other types were either odd or cheap looking. 5Bad packaging. This is my 2nd time ordering this light. Both times it came with the same problem. Back socket from the lights is loose. (photos posted) I'm pretty sure its a combination of cheap plastic manufacturing and bad shipping packaging. BUT light works good! I talked to customer service about the packaging issues, but it ships out straight from the manufacturer. Lets see what happens on this 3rd try. 4The best - buy these. I've tried literally dozens of models of motion activated night lights and these are the best. Extra bright, range works well but not too well ~20ft, good amount of time ~1 min. I have these on my path to the bathroom and kitchen. I also put these in the guest room and bath, and use a little white tape on the sensor to adjust it so it only comes on when feet just about hit the floor or a hand reaches toward the floor from the bed. My guests are always impressed that the lights pop on for them when they need them. If you have older parents or friends these are a ton cheaper than a trip to ER. (PI) I imagine that if you have a munchkin that is afraid of the dark, that you may be able to reason with them that if the light is off, no one is there because these detect monsters too. Course, they live in the closet. I've had my first set for more than 2 years and they are still going strong. 5
