Customer Reviews

This is Amazing! Works good. Turns full on and full off. In off position it is OFF!The included attachment bolt is 1/2" so it's a little weird if you are hoping to swap with a ground clamp cuz those arent typically 1/2". I used a short rectangle of copper plate and made a flag off the bolt. That way I can use this thing with all my machines and clamp them onto the flag. 5Constantly arcing and falling offI bought this mag clamp specifically for pipe because a ground clamp only works well up to an inch thick, over that it's difficult or impossible unless you tack on something to clamp to. This clamp was constantly arcing or falling off the pipe, the magnet was just not strong enough to hold the weight of the copper lead and in some cases could be a dangerous missile if mounted overhead. It worked better on flat surfaces.2Just buy it, you wont be disappointedThis ground is awesome! Lately I have been building alot of square tube closed end projects with no where to attach a ground clamp. Not working off a welding table means I d have to attach a pair locking pliers to the frame somewhere and put my ground clamp on that way. This was taking FOREVER! Using this magnetic ground clamp is soooo much faster. It holds super strong and I get a good ground all the time, plus I dont get a ton of metal shavings stuck to it like the cheaper clamps. I bolter a vehicle groung strap to the lug so I could use my standard ground clamp and swich back and forth as needed.5MagSwitch GroundBolted right up to my ground wire. I just removed the ground clamp and bolted on the MagSwitch. I had to use the bolt from my ground clamp, as the bolt that came with the MagSwitch was 1/2" and too large for my lug. I would have had to change the lug to fit. Magnet works great, turns on with a turn of the knob, much faster setup and I can place the ground closer to where I am welding now.4Made well works flawlessly. I love this magnetic clamp. It works great and seems to be much easier. Especially on odd pieces that a clamp would be hard to attach. The magnet works on everything that I have welded so far. I have used it for approximately 6 months and on several occasions. 5I completely recommend this unitThis thing rocks!!! I do exhaust systems and there is not always any ware that a normal clamp can hook to. I have cheated it a little as I have not bolted my ground lead to it, I just clamp to it. Have had 0 problems though. I completely recommend this unit. got it in a few days, great seller.5I think this is a good product. Let's you ground a large or bulky ...I think this is a good product. Let's you ground a large or bulky item that would be difficult to fasten a clamp on. Another advantage to the magnet is it lets you attach the ground to a setup without applying a lot of force to it. The magnet holds well and releases easily. The bolt for attaching the wire is much bigger than it needs to be. I had to use a lug made for car batteries to attach the wire. The hole was too small on the smaller lugs. Had to solder it in, it was too big to crimp.4Should ve bought sooner!Replaced the cheap stamped clamp on my Hobart 140. So glad I did but wish I had done it earlier for my 1st big project.Magnet is plenty strong and the ground made my machine run like it should from the factory. Put down the best welds with much less effort. Most complaints come from - well how do I attach this to my machine? Simple - I bought a Forney 60101 cable lug ($3 ea). Went right onto the magnet. Flattened the part where the cable went into and drilled a hole the size of the bolt for the Hobart clamp. I already had a lug on that end from trying to attach brass clamps but didn t work so well. I want to be able to disconnect quickly if needed so I attached the small lug to the large one. So simple and it took 5 minutes. Taped up just to clean it up.So impressed with how my machine runs now.5This thing works so much better. Never leaves marks on the work and the ... I wish that I would have bought one of these years ago. I tried a cheepo magnetic ground first, and it worked until the magnet broke in half. It was also always covered in metal dust from grinding etc. This thing works so much better. Never leaves marks on the work and the on-off switch works like magic. Very happy with this purchase. 5Good unit, sticks well to the Oil Field Pipe ... Good unit, sticks well to the Oil Field Pipe that I am welding. Couple of Disappointments. One it will slip off and arc melting the aluminum and scaring the mud out of you. I'm only using a 40 amp inverter and it has cooked the underside here and there. Plastic spigot, I think it should be something a little more durable, easy to drop this thing. Before starting the replacement job, take a look at your existing torch ground and figure out how to get the wire off the clamp. This unit will need a 1/2" wire-eyelet crimp connection and it doesn't come with one. (Shame on them). I picked mine up at an O'Rileys for about $5 out the door for 2 of them. I couldn't find anything that size at Home Depot. Autoparts stores deal in DC for the most part, and wires and connectors are larger for the most part due to the DC current. I ended up just cutting my ground wire on my welder and then crimping the wire into the 1/2" eyelet with some channel locks. It's a good little tool, I hope they continue to improve it. 4Works greatI love magswitches, and use them all the time. The one thing I think they could improve upon on all of them is making the switches turn a bit easier or use a flip switch. I only have two hands, so if one hand is holding a piece of material, I can't use it to hold the magnet in place to turn the knob. The reason I mention that on this is because i use it as a ground on a plasma table, in my case I have to place the ground roughly 48 inches up the material, not hard to reach with one hand, but with two hands I have to climb on the table a bit. I still recommend it though, but only because there isn't an alternative with a lever switch.4Good contact; strong magnet; many choicesI didn t want to drill a hole in my welding table to attach a wire lug. And I don t always want to rely on workpiece-to-table contact for the welding current circuit. The Magswitch 300 Amp Ground Clamp gives me flexibility. I can attach the Magswitch directly to a flat spot on a large workpiece. Or, I can attach the Magswitch to the welding table top and use workpiece-to-table contact for workpieces that are too small or too odd-shaped to use a spring-clamp.5Kind of disappointed with this thingOK so I only have welded up to about 175 amps with it and it does fine as a ground clamp but the magnet isnt that strong. I have been using it on chromoly tubing doing a roll cage at about 100 amps and if I bump the ground wire its enough to pull it off the tubing. Havent needed to turn the knob at all to release it. Pretty disappointing for as much as it was.3What a difference!!!So much faster than tacking lugs onto stuff to clamp to. Just grind down some spots where your going to need to ground to, and that's it! I can jump around from area to area at my leisure now. Working in confined spaces and upside down is always going to be frustrating, but this takes one obstacle out of the struggle. I've also had no problems clamping to the bolt instead of fastening the work cable to it with a terminal. Being able to switch the magnet off is great for keeping it clean.5
