    But my biggest complaint is that when adjusted for a wide beam it both lights become very dim and the beam looks like a 'doughnu This is my review of the Maglite 3-cell D and 2-cell AA mini flashlight combo pack.I was left quite unimpressed compared to other reviewers. The lights are very solid and well made, but they are heavy and lack many of the features found in other, cheaper lamps. First of all they roll off everything you set them on. You can correct this buy getting pricey accessory kits, but tons of other flashlights don't have this problem. There is no provision for hanging the light and there is no magnetic mounting. Even the accessory packs don't deal with those faults. They are water resistant but not water proof. I've had $3 plastic flashlights that would work under water. The mini light has a spot for a lanyard, but you cannot use this feature and the candle mode at the same time. When in candle mode the blub is at risk for damage. It also gives a harsh light that is no brighter than a single candle. You don't want to in a hurry to get these working. The D-cell has a hard to find switch that is bound to fail in time and the AA-cell turns on by twisting the front of the lamp. changing batteries is more difficult than any other flashlight I've ever used. But my biggest complaint is that when adjusted for a wide beam it both lights become very dim and the beam looks like a 'doughnut'. There is a big dark area right where you point the light. Pretty useless for me.Other than being made in America and being machined from aluminum, I see no advantage to these expensive, poorly thought-out flashlights. If you're willing to pay a big price just to struggle with all the flaws for the sake of patriotism, good for you. I expect better engineering form US companies. 2so I'm very disappointed. Maglites are usually great The larger one stopped working after two trial uses, so I'm very disappointed. Maglites are usually great, so I'm giving this a 3 star rating based on past experience with this brand. 3Everyone should own at least one... Maglite! The most reliable brand on the market. This set is perfect, bought it for my elderly Stepmom who never seemed to have the right batteries when one of her flashlights went dead. This way at least you're more likely to have one or the other size, either AA's or C's, rather than worrying about storing just one kind of battery for who-knows-how-long and when-did-I-buy-those? 5MagLite. A sturdy flashlight that has never had me dissapointed Good deal for thee pair. Maglite brand never upsets. These are Non-LED but they produce a ton of light. I purchased the Maglite wall mount for the D-Cell and has worked great and the Mini is in a Bathroom draw just in case the power goes out while someone is in their. 5So happy to feel the durability and solidness of it again Grew up with Maglites. So happy to feel the durability and solidness of it again. Will never waste a few dollars here and there to save a few bucks again now that I remember how AWESOME this flashlight is. So tired of buying little flashlights. 5Maglite is THE BEST ... I purchased a couple of these sets to have on hand for the occasional power outage due to our sometimes-wild northwest winter storms. I love having the small flashlight to carry in my purse, and the larger one for my nightstand drawer at home.One note: the "Product Specifications" indicates that these have LED bulbs. THAT IS INCORRECT. These are standard incandescent bulbs, and you get an extra one stored in the cap of each flashlight. Nice touch, that.The quality is evident even before you open the package. These are HEFTY flashlights, nice and solid. Should last for decades. I haven't tested the water resistance capability, but I trust it will work if I'm forced out in the rain with the flashlight.All in all, a good buy. 5the big one is great Honestly I bought this pack for the big flashlight. The big one is rock solid and works great. The little one is ok. Sometimes the little light cuts out and you have to bang it to get it to come back on. Worth the money. Could improve the smaller light. 4Not bright at all! Did not light up very far or very bright!! I would not recommend. Returned and purchased a LED Maglite from a local store. It's MUCH better! 2Maglite Sets the Standard With so many choices in the "Flashlight Market", sometimes it seems a daunting task to choose one. My Dad gave me my first 3 Cell Maglite 20 years ago... 3 bulbs and a few sets of batteries later it still works like a charm. I have these things everywhere. One in the Bedroom, One in the Living Room and then the Mini Flashlights in other rooms. It is so nice to have one in every room in case of a power outage... and have one that you know will work at the moment you need it.Dependable... Quality... A company that stands behind it's products. Choose Maglite. 5Great around the house Great light to have around the house. I live in the woods and it us strong enough to investigate the things that go bump in the night without leaving the porch. Also great for when the power goes out. You can never go wrong with a Maglite. 5
