Helpful to Control Sonos Audio Volume, But Remote Design Could Be BetterHere are 2 scenarios where this remote is really useful: (1) you or a housemate are playing music over Sonos and your phone rings. You want to mute or lower the Sonos audio quickly, but fiddling with your phone to access the Sonos app is awkward when as you are already on the phone. Going to a wall and controlling the Sonos with this Caseta Wireless Pico Remote is really helpful in a situation like this. Or (2): you're in a bathroom taking a shower or using the toilet and you have Sonos audio playing. You often are not going to have your phone on you to adjust things. Again, the Caseta Wireless Pico Remote mounted on a wall comes to the rescue.So this is a good device, but it could be better. For example, the most common use cases for this remote are (1)Mute; (2) lower volume; and (3) increase volume. But Mute is at the top of the remote; Raise and Lower Volume are grouped in the center panel. Also in the center panel is this largest round button to allow you to select Favorites. It's easy to press that large button, when you really wish to do something else. Frankly, if I really want to do something sophisticated, like select a different Favorite, I would rather control that from the phone app where I can really tell what's going on, rather than blindly guess at what's going to play next from this remote.With tech, often less is more, and I really wish there would be a design of this remote that only has 3 clearly labeled and colored functions: (1) A Red button to mute the audio; (2) A Green button to increase volume; and (3) a Blue button to reduce volume.I have resorted to use a dab of colored nail polishes on my Caseta Wireless Pico Remote to make these Green, Red, and Blue functions more obvious. The colors are are especially helpful to guests who are unfamiliar with the many options offered by my Sonos sound system. No one should have to be Ace Ventura Pet Detective to figure out how to mute or otherwise control volume, especially in certain rooms!It is also surprising that this remote only comes in white. A choice of other colors is much more in keeping with Lutron!Having said all of this, it is still very nice to have this additional functionality in various rooms at my home. I would give it 5 stars on technical prowess, but 2 stars for user-friendly design. Thus my 3-star review.3Love it! Easy to surface mount on a wall so it looks like another switch...I love having this Sonos remote on my wall so I don't have to reach for an app. I have SmartThings but there is currently no remote control designed for audio/Sonos control via Z-wave. I recently added a Lutron Caseta Wireless Smart Lighting Dimmer Switch (2 count) Starter Kit (which is also compatible with SmartThings) for a new LED pendant so when I saw that there was also a Lutron Sonos remote, I was psyched.While pretty expensive compared to the regular Pico remote (WHY?!), I really do like having these mounted to my walls next to my light switches using Lutron PICO-WBX-ADAPT Pico Wallplate Bracket and Eaton Decorator Screwless Wallplate, 3-Gang, White.There is a slight delay between pressing the button and the Sonos reacting, but I still like it over using an app. Plus, guests can use it, too. The button in the middle cycles through Sonos favorites. There are also buttons for Play/Pause, Next Track, and Volume Up/Down. Simple and elegant.If I had one wish, it would be for faster response time. Oh, and a Z-wave/SmartThings version :) Oh, and drop the price!5Works as advertised with Sonos Beam.Takes only 10 minutes to add audio pico remote and Sonos system link to Lutron Caseta app. Then create favorite stations in your Sonos app. Mounted as a wall control, this remote gives you easy access to your music without having to shout out to Alexa or find your phone. You will need pico wall mount kit to make this look like a light switch (about $6). It is well worth the $40 price if you already have the Lutron Caseta bridge. Make sure that your Lutron Caseta bridge and Sonos system are on the same network to prevent setup problems.5Lutron Caseta is SOLIDI have dealt with a lot of smart home products and the Lutron Caseta products work 100% of the time with no issues. I have replaced just about everything in my house with them and some Hue bulbs here and there. I wish the Caseta line has motion detectors and a few other options but they are solid and just work. Even though they are wireless (433 Mhz to the bridge) when I press a button they just work. That is what I want for it to just work! Their app is really good too, a little slow opening initially but with scheduling, Alexa and Sonos integration we have automated wake up routines for the kids.5Works great for on and off but the volume control has ...Works great for on and off but the volume control has a feature gap.. if you have a group (multi-room) the volume will only control the room the remote is attached to instead of the group volume overall. It s a bit annoying and seems that it could be fixed with a software update. I m hopeful.4Perfect with one exception - no group volume controlThis is a great remote to control your Sonos speakers. It is easy to connect and does not have any of the connectivity issues I experienced with a competing Xpress product.The only glaring problem with this is that pushing play/pause effects the whole group of Sonos speakers (which is good). Pressing next track or changing sources also has the effect on the whole group of speakers (also good). However, the volume up/down only effects the single speaker within the group to which the Pico remote was originally linked (not the desired result).So, if you want to use this remote to control a "group" of Sonos speakers, you can do that - but you wont have volume control. Which is ridiculous. I have written to Lutron and hopefully an update will fix this issue.If you are only using this to control a single speaker, the foregoing is a non-issue for you. It will work fine.Also, if you want to mount this to an existing wall box, you will need the clear plate. But if you are going to "fake" a double gang box by hanging a double cover over a single box, you can just use the included self-stick backing to stick the remote the wall and surround it with the double wall plate - the extra clear plate is unnecessary to purchase. In fact, if just placing against the flat wall, the clear plate will cause it to stick out too far (without the void of an empty box behind it).3Great solution for Sonos users who hate fiddling w/their phones to start a typical routineWorks great, as advertised. Like having the music buttons from your car steering wheel, but for your house / Sonos systems. I wish it could handle multiple groupings or otherwise be a bit clearer about which grouping is active, but it's manageable if you are willing to place it in one room to control a music scene you are pretty stable with.5Great remote but worth reading the fine printI just received this product and I am very happy with it but it is worth understanding what it does and doesn't do. When paired with Sonos the play/pause button works perfectly on the assigned speaker (or stereo pair) when that is the only zone playing. If you combine zones across your home with the paired zone the play/pause button will work across all combined zones - the favorites button functions the same way as does the next track button. The volume buttons on the other hand only operate the remote-paired zone even when zones are combined meaning if you have your Sonos playing the same thing around your home (multiple zones) using the remote will only change the volume in the zone where the remote is paired.Only negative feedback is the price. The exact same remotes that control lights and blinds in the Caseta Wireless system cost well less than half of the audio enabled price.4Works great for what it doesIt works exactly as it says. The big issue is it will not control multiple zones. More specifically, you can't tell it to do more than one zone. If two zones are already linked and the zone you tell it to control happens to be one of them, then it controls both for everything but volume. It's pretty funky the way it works. On the plus side, it's a really nice little control for waling into a room and starting music with Sonos. I did 5 stars because I think the limitations I speak of have to do more with SONOS than with this control.5Another great controller from LutronWorks exactly as advertised. I have been very impressed with the entire Lutron Caseta line of smart home products. They just work and this remote is no exception. As long as you understand that it will only work with one Sonos speaker ( and any other speakers grouped with that speaker), it's a great way to play/pause and adjust the volume of my Sonos system. If you are looking at setting up a smart home that can be operated by anyone, you owe it to yourself to look into the Lutron Caseta family of products,5
