    Poor design - mostly plastic. Poor design. These wall plates stand out from the wall much farther than others I have used. So much that they look awkward in our kitchen backsplash. Note that these wall plates are in 2 pieces - the outer cover and the back plate that has the screw holes. Problem is, it is extremely difficult to separate the two (necessary for install) without bending/damaging the cosmetic cover - the plastic tabs that hold them together are excessively tight fitting. I broke one just trying to separate the front and back per instructional diagram. Also, I have an issue with the seller calling these "stainless steel" - there is an extremely thin brushed steel-looking veneer, but these are mostly plastic. I wish I'd just bought ordinary steel outlet covers with the screws showing. 1Stainless Steel 'sticker' on top of black wall plate, looks cheap. I like the Lutron brand and have bought many of their dimmers and switches. So I was excited to find out they had a 'real' stainless steel 'screwless' wall plate!I looked at many wall plates from different brands and all of these are a solid color or texture, so I assumed by the single picture provided by Amazon that this was going to be same for Lutron.Unfortunately these are pretty much Lutron's black wall plate with a very thin stainless steel layer glued to the front. In my opinion that looks really cheap and of course over time is going to peel off.If you look for a solid stainless steel look I would look somewhere else. 2Why not give your outlets and switches a finished look? I love these things! It should be noted I have tried Leviton's version as well and they do not offer the quality and look these, the Lutron's do.Yes, you are going to spend much more with these than a traditional .20 cent outlet cover but.... why not? They look so cool and really give a nice finished look to your walls especially on a tiled kitchen back splash. Why not spend the little extra and finish of a tiled back splash or a nicely painted wall.... you spend the money on nice tile or similar and a high quality paint then slap a crappy outlet cover up with stripped screws? To me just doesn't seem right, but thats just my opinion. The high gloss to them make a super slick and easy to clean surface. I'm sold! 5Beautiful upgrade to a standard wall plate This review is for the "stainless steel" version. The wall plate is available in 8 colors to match or complement any d cor.If you have never owned this type of plate here are some tips:1. It is a two-piece wall plate with a backer plate that mounts over the switches AFTER you install them. There is an ingenious design in which the screws of each switch can be accessed after you install the backer plate to level it flush with the plate. This is especially important and desirable if you have switch boxes with 2 or more switches, and critical for a 4-gang box.2. The front plate snaps over the backer plate and is held in place with tiny plastic tabs. Being a two-piece design there will be a tiny seam between the two. It appears some people hate that and others (me include) think it makes the wall plate more high-tech looking.3. Snapping the front plate on is easy, removing it is very difficult to the point it feels like you are going to break the plastic. You won't. Here's a secret ... slide the narrow end of a credit card in the seam along the top and pull it toward you. Once the first tab or two releases the rest will release easily.4. While this product is described as "durable stainless steel" it is not. It is plastic with a finish that has the appearance of stainless steel. It is not metallic. And it is a fingerprint magnet, be prepared to give it a wipe-down once a day with a damp cloth.5. Because of its design there are absolutely no screws or other fasteners showing. It is noticeably more attractive than standard wall plates.The product illustration for this wall plate is very accurate; it looks exactly like the product itself. I'm not sure why someone would order it knowing that and then call it ugly. With a choice of 8 colors and an extremely clean simple design its attractiveness is 100% in the eye and mind of the person who buys it. We have actually had guests point it out when visiting and ask where we got them as they give the room a very professionally decorated look.Good product, overpriced for a couple of pieces of plastic. Final score 4-stars. 4For under $4 these are a really nice little upgrade to your switches, easy to install and stays put! Really nice upgrade from the normal plates with screws - funny how something so minor can make a nice difference :) It's not even $4 so very affordable to upgrade all your switches. Easy to install and while it is just plastic, it fits and snaps firmly on and there was no issue getting everything to fit and level. Yes it does come out a little more than you are probably used to, but it's really not that much and I'm sensitive to little things like this but it doesn't bother me at all :)This does fit with many of the Leviton dimmers and switches so that's a plus (just check beforehand as not all do work interchangeably.) The simple white dimmers though pretty much all can work with each other. The other colors look nice too, though we only used the white.Attached a picture of the finished switch - please excuse the walls/dirt as we are long overdue for a paint :) These do actually snap on and off pretty easily (but firm) so when you paint it's not a pain to do all of them. 5BIG Difference between Lutron and Leviton Lutron uses 4 screws for each device (4 for a single gang), you can install all the devices and get them at the right depth and then attach the sub plate. Leviton often tries to get by with 2 screws per device. Look at the photo and see the elongated slots with the screw underneath. This allows you to slide the devices side to side to fit sub plate while you are installing it. Others don't work this way. These wall plates are most often installed in commercial spaces with Level 5 drywall finish (dead flat) and will install flush. Residential drywall is typically Level 3 and electrical boxes are often far from flat. These wall plates are flexible and if the wall is not flat the wall plate is likely not to be flush on all sides. This problem is not a problem with the wall plate but with the drywall. The best solution will be a thin line of caulk around the sub plate. 5BE AWARE: GLOSS FINISH! Sturdy, elegant wall plate. First things first -- I got this in brown, and the product I received had a GLOSS FINISH. Nowhere on the product page does it mention glossy (or matte, for that matter), so that is an important detail. It's not a huge problem for me, but the product images do give the impression of a matte finish, so I was a bit disappointed. This information should most definitely be added.As for the product, it's a sturdy, elegant wall plate. Fit perfectly over a Leviton dimmer switch I had just installed. The front snaps off for installation, and snaps snugly back on to conceal the screws. I'll be buying more of these in the future. 4Easy to install, with a clean seamless appearance...... This is probably the best plate that you can get for the 'decor' type of AC outlets and wall switches ..... It is very easy to install and line up for those stubborn installs ....It is double thick in comparison to a regular 'decor' plate .... which I think looks much better against the wall surface ....It is also just a bit larger (H and W) from a standard wall plate which is convenient when needing to cover some dry board damage or a bad cut-out ......It is noticeably different from a regular wall plate, so if used in the vicinity of a regular one , it will stand-out .... again, I think it looks much nicer ..... giving a much cleaner looking install and appearance....... the room side of the plate just snaps onto the installed piece, negating the need for visible screws ..... it removes easily if needed ...... and you can remove/replace as many times as required ......I am replacing my legacy AC outlets and switches with GE Z-wave units ..... And this is my wall plate of choice ....... 5Great Product, but not the best in my opinion I've recently updated all my Wallplates and outlets in my house I tried many screwless options.This wall plate hides screws from your wall plates and looks much better than them! While many may not care, to me this just gives a better look to an area.There a few issues I have with this wall plate. While putting the front cover over the back cover it does not actually cover the back plate. It gives somewhat a "layered" look on the side, where you can see the back plate, a small gap and then the front plate, which isn't THAT bad, but part of the reason why i gave it 4 out of 5 stars.Another issue is that the front plate snaps on the to the back plate VERY tightly, and can be a pain to remove and sometimes feels like it is going to bend or break the plate, but never does.After looking around I found a similar plate by Cooper named Aspire that fixed my issues of being easier to take off and actually covered the back plate all the wall as to seem as one plate instead of two plates stacked on top each other.While I still use this plate, I have moved on to using the Aspire plate for any future purchases I may need. While this is a great plate for those wishing to go screwless. For me at least, there are other screwless plates that are a little bit better than this that fit my needs. 4I was very happy with these wall plates I was very happy with these wall plates. Really love the look. I actually bought 2 different brands, and decided I like this one better because it doesn't have an obvious gap on the side, the cover goes very close to the wall. The other one had a very noticeable gap where the cover met the plate that is attached to the wall.We replaced all the outlets in the house with updated rocker switches and these were perfect to go with them. The electrician that installed all of them pointed out that the best way to open them is with the top of a box cutter knife or similar tool should you need to get the covers off.We have various different type switches and outlets and these seemed to fit all of them and is a great universal cover.My one disappointment was Amazon's price increase after I bought them. I bought 60 of these, and when I went to buy a few extra the price had tripled! Hopefully the price goes down for the white ones, so I can buy a few extra to have around should I need them in the future. 5
