    Crap. DO NOT BUY !!! I just got this from Amazon today. It did not come in a box, just shrink wrap in an Amazon envelope. This Lite-on player did not recognize half the cds I put in it. Then it quit working altogether, ON THE FIRST DAY !!!! 1Burning backups is a breaze... Like a few others are saying this drive works very well for XBOX 360 backups. Just get BurnerMax to make the disk image 8.7 gigs instead of the 8.4 that it shows (look on YouTube for help/explanation) ,abgx360, and imgburn (with the proper settings) and you're all set. If you bought this to burn regular DVDs and CDs then you've got yourself a good cheap burner too. So far I've burned 3 games with no problems. The firmware I got is Liteon "F". No need to flash it at all. 5Works fine I usually don't use a CD drive but when building a PC for friend i decided to put one in. Works fine which is saying something for these cheap CD drives. 5Great for ripping discs, but can't burn DVD-Rs I was pretty upset that my spindles of expensive blank Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs are now useless until I buy ANOTHER drive. You would expect a 20+ year old VERY COMMON format to be compatible with a current drive!Otherwise, this drive has worked great. Rips all of my old, decaying CD-Rs from decades ago, my weirdly formatted pressed discs from China/SE Asia, and even DVDs that stopped playing in all of my players/game systems.If you need to buckle down and archive your stuff, make new copies, etc., this is a great choice. 4Works as advertised I received yesterday and installed quickly as I needed this badly. Install was super easy and the device works very well. It's much quicker than the CD drive I had before. Packaging was very skimpy... it came in a plastic bag. Other than this, I'd highly recommend to anyone needing a replacement CD drive. 4Its ok for its price. Not as loud as other reviewers claim reads disks fine for now.Some people don't remember what old 52x Cd-rom drives could sound like.This doesn't even get close to some of the loud ones.But... it is alarmingly light for an optical drive, hence I throw once star off, as that doesn't say much about its durability.From my experience the less heavy drives tend to fail sooner. 4Nice pricce for a long time good name. This drive is a good one. I recommend it for LINUX user, its what I got for my latest build. I really like it that these are dropping in price so much that it is easy on the pocket. Now days a lot of the high end motherboards don't have IDE pin-outs and you need a SATA drive. This one is fast and reasonable. BTW, you need to have your own SATA cable for it, it does not come with one. They aren't the expensive, and the overall price is good enough, so what the heck? 5Low-cost internal DVD writer Drives arrived even earlier than predicted and were well packaged. Both drives and the RAM I ordered with it were in just as good condition as if I had bought at a brick and mortar store. Drives exceeded my expectations in that they wrote much faster than I expected. There is no lite-scribe, but I never use that anyway. They also appear to read faster than I expected, Since these were used in a newly reconditioned computer for personal use, I shall be able to evaluate them better as time goes on. However, the initial evaluation couldn't be better. 5Great replacement I like having 2 optical drives, but an old one just quit working. It was on older drive with a SATA adapter. Since my other drive was the same brand, I bought this one as my replacement for the other drive. Works well and isn't telling me that every disk put into it needs to be formatted (like I said, the old one died). Liked the price and have had good luck with the brand. 5What can I say Honestly, the seller keeps hounding me to leave a review. I mean, it's a DVD drive, what can I say? It's black, door opens, and it works. I don't recall shipping time, probably 3 to 6 days. The box was cardboard, it smelled real nice. I had to crash it to fit in trash. 5
