    Replaced my old (from 2009) HP ProCurve 24 port Gb ...Replaced my old (from 2009) HP ProCurve 24 port Gb switch with this one. The HP has two [loud] fans in it that made me have to keep it in a closet to minimize the noise into the room. This switch has no fans, so that's no longer an issue. Plus the HP switch web console no longer works on current browser versions (Java on it is far too old now).5Fantastic switch - fantastic value.Used - like new but was actually new in box. Switch replaced a cheap TP-Link 'smart' switch (that sucked) and has worked flawlessly. Primarily needed to expand capacity to another point in house without losing bandwidth so used two line link aggregation to main switch and no issues. Had a little trouble getting NTP working (couldn't get it to connect outside so pointed to pfsense box and worked fine) but other than that, great.Strangely, seems faster than the dumb TP-Link switch that it also replaced (possibly link aggregation).5Wonderful solution, if you need a small managed switchI have a 26 port Linksys managed switch, and a home built PFSense router, and when I wanted to expand my (home) network into a new location, this was a logical choice vs using one of my unmanaged switches I have lying around.The interface is familiar from my other Linksys switches, and it allows for simplified spanning of switches and IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic link aggregation between this switch and my larger one. I haven't set up any additional pairs with this switch, but my larger one has successfully used bonded pairs with NAS devices from Synology, WD, Seagate, and Windows Server 2016 NIC Teams.No fan, fan noise, or any real negatives. I wish the 16 port wasn't significantly more than the 8, but it is what it is. This 8 port unit is great, and I'll probably be getting another for another remote location within my home.5Great little unit with SNMP!!I needed a little cost-effective unit to serve a little server farm at home. I also use monitoring tools to manage traffic spikes and usage. This unit was simple to set up and is able to be polled via SNMP to poll performance metrics. Management of the device is very simple , but powerful. You have control of many advanced settings without having to have a CCNA to understand.5The Big Brother of my LSG308 Smart SwitchesI was looking for something with 16 ethernet ports that was similar to the 8-port LSG308s I already had. The LGS318s have 18 ports with 2 of them grouped with the two SFP ports. Although I do not currently have any fiber in my networks, I seem to be unable to avoid constantly adding stuff, so here are a couple more holes I can pour money down. The two models share the same features but the LFS318 does pretty much evey thing faster. These switches are part of my plan to replace the router/gateways provided by my ISPs with devices that support VLANs some I can improve the efficiency and performance of my LANs.The 318 have the same color scheme as the 308s but are considerably larger. I will use these sitting on desk/table tops or on top of file cabinets and it will take some doing to make a hole for them.5This is a great switchI'm using these as my main switch of choice. The Netgear GS105E or GS108E switches are great too, but this one is a bit more advanced. But now it drops out. All the lights go out and nothing works. I have to power cycle it to get it back up.I went to get a firmware upgrade and there isn't one. The firmware has had no updates since 2014.Maybe you should look at a more modern piece of hardware or buy an extended warranty.2Worked fine for a few monthsAfter that, no matter how the firmware was configured, it experienced eventual internal network slowdown causing speed fluctuations from 110 mb/s (normal gbit speed) to 6 megs a second. Replacing this 4 month old switch fixed the issue. Normally I'd close my eyes and purchase Cisco hardware, but this one I won't touch with a 10 foot pole.1
