    Another great camping gift for kids Bought these at a value price as camping gifts for my grandchildren. All 6 worked perfectly. Nice product at that price for that purpose - flashlight, green wand for retaining night vision yet seeing things more clearly, a safety whistle, and a lanyard. Kids loved them. Of course a downside is that the button cells that power this can be pricey (try buying them at the Dollar Store), and it takes some care and a tiny Philips driver to replace them. Finally, be careful when storing this away, the power on button can be pushed by other stuff pressing on it.All in all, another great camping gift for kids. 5works great in your hand but attach it to something and it auto shuts off after about 15 minutes nice for basic things but used for lobster hunting and they were garbage. they seem to auto shut off after a series of time and left me hunting down traps without lights on many occasions so i cant advise it for that use. for normal operations where you can turn it on and off, im sure its awesome 3Great replacement for cylume sticks Everyone remembers the green sticks you crack and then shake to mix the chemicals, giving you a temporary bright light that you can play with during Halloween (and I was one of those kids who would open them up to see the bright liquid spill around). :)These are great for the same use, only you can turn them off and on easily. I originally bought them as lights for when I might need to fix a late-night flat, something illuminated I could scatter along the road for safety. Then I found out they also blink, which makes them even more useful as warning aids.My one reservation is each stick has a large black sticker on it, which are a pain to remove. It's basically a repeat of the instructions on the box, and I didn't like the idea of having anything obscuring the light. 4Good little light :) Check to see if they work as soon as you get them! I will start off by saying, 5 of my 6 lights worked perfectly. The one that didn't had a problem with just the red led part- the flashlight worked fine. When my hubby got home, he just juggled it a little and the red went on fine. I think there was just a connection problem. I didn't mind it though. I only needed 4 for now, and on top of that I used to work in an electronics production line so I know how things can just be shaken loose during shipping, etc.My 3 year old loves this. I saw them at a church camp out the other year and the kids all loved them. I know this will work well for Halloween and for my tot's emergency kit. The flash light I have to admit isn't a "wow" factor, but I love the glow stick function and the whistle. I purchased this mainly for that reason, so IF I were to be separated from my tot at a camp-out, she would know to blow the whistle and turn on the red light. Is it super heavy duty? No. Is it to be relied on as your only source of light? No. But for a super light glow stick to be reused over and over instead of those regular glow sticks, it is awesome. Very happy with this item :) 5never ever do they stay waterproof, they always leak. tried these on lobster floats. so they are not submerged, but do get wet with salt water. they leak, they also do not stay on, they turn off on their own. the leaking part leads to shorting and then they dont work... 1Well made, Durable Love, love, love these glow sticks. I purchase them in bulk and hand them out as party favors at our camping birthday parties. They can be used as flashlights, glow sticks, strobe lights, and both a flash light and glow stick at the same time. The price is reasonable considering what you would pay for just a disposable glow stick or flashlight. Well worth the money, well made, and so far...durable! We purchased them in red, blue, and green and have used them to identify teams when playing dusk laser tag outside! 5Convenient,bright, multi-mode light....but they should mention the auto-shut-off I chose to buy multi-packs of the green lights because they seem to me to be the brightest of the colors available when you use the colored-light function. I have tried blue, red and pink also. These lights are nice and bright, lightweight, and the multiple function lets you use just the flashlight (plain white light coming out the end of the tube), the solid green light , the flashing green light (both lit up along whole tube) or flashlight PLUS solid green light. I'd give these five stars except for one thing: as other reviewers have mentioned, they don't say on the package that there is an auto-shut-off built in, and you can't disable it, so this is not the best choice to use, for example, as a flare on the highway if your car breaks down. They are just fine for walking at night, or for kids to play with. Do note the fine print, the "200 hours" battery life is WHEN it's used in flashing mode.I ordered two packages of six each, all seem to be in perfect working order. I seem to have got the end of a package design perhaps? (see pic) The two lots are slightly different looking in both the package and the tube. As far as I can tell, the function of both is the same, so don't worry if the photo you see in the listing is not quite the same as the lights you receive.The prices of these change pretty often, and different colors are not necessarily priced the same. If you're not in a rush, watch the prices for a while and buy when they're cheaper. 4Good product, with some limitations due to an auto shutoff feature I originally bought this product to use in Halloween decorations, however; the auto-shutoff feature (mind you I totally missed this if it was in the description...my bad) shuts the light off in 30 min. So every 30 min or so, I need to go out and reset the lights in my Halloween d cor...if I wanted to do that I would have bought the old snap and shake light sticks...they seemed to last more than 30 min. Not really sure I get the time of 30 min. If I was using this in an emergency like is advertised, it would have to be a short emergency need as 30 min later its going to turn off.That all said, I gave this product a rating of 4 because it is a good product and can meet the needs very well for other situations, if you planned to buy these for your child to wear as a light, they can always turn it back on as they walk around trick or treating, of if you were using the flash light feature around your home during a black out, again the shutoff feature is not a problem. 4Very Visible at Night My husband and I use these lights when walking our dogs after dark (our dogs are small, making lights designed to go around the dog's neck virtually useless). These lights serve three functions: as a flashlight, a solid light (the clear tube lights up in green), and flashing (again, in green). We hang the lights around our necks, one dangling in the front and one in the back, making us very visible to neighborhood traffic. Many neighbors have complimented us and asked where to buy them. They are sold locally but the local sporting goods store at which I originally found them does not carry the many colors that are available through Amazon.These lights come in several colors, but we find that the most visible are the Green, Red, and Orange. Pink is also visible as is Sky. I don't believe the Purple to be very visible at night so I do not recommend it for that purpose. 5Kids like the multi-colored light, good for walking at night. Please supervise small children when using the neck lanyard. I bought a bunch of these as stocking stuffers for the holidays. They're decent enough, the flashlight is sufficiently bright for what the kids use them for and the multi-colored wand is surprisingly visible when walking at night. Be warned that each one of these uses 3 button batteries, so if you're not buying your button batteries in bulk from an another seller you can easily spend the price of the light on button batteries at retail.If you have small children, please take the neck lanyard away and store them someplace where kids can't get them. -My 3-year-old son found where I kept them, got one when I wasn't looking, and managed to get the lanyard wrapped good and tight around his neck - proving yet again that every single thing on this earth can be made dangerous if my son gets his hands on it. 3
