Customer Reviews

Measure your lens.... I expected it to fit over my lens hood when it is in the stowed position, with its own LensCoat. I may use this for another lens and and get the large to fit over my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 lens hood. The hoodie is larger on the solid end and narrows into the lens. A lens hood does the opposite. Maybe they can make one that will fit that way? I don't know anyone that doesn't use a lens hood on their long lenses, and they did provide the LensCoat for the hood, with the kit I purchased for the lens itself. A little design problem there. 4Nice product, will buy additional products from them. Great product but the sizing is a little too generic. I'm using it on my Nikon 80-400, new version, and it is a little tight getting it on the lens hood when combined with a lens coat on the hood. And if removing the lens hood and just putting on the lens it is just a little loose, and then you can't put the hood back on. If this was reworked with a stretch velcro strap to add a little wiggle room i'd be giving it 5 stars. Still a really nice product just not thrilled with sizing.PSRemove the hood and stretch over hood then putting the hood back on is what is working best for me. 4Close but no cigar Excellent quality lens cover and I'm sure it offers great protection but the thing is hard to get on...it's a 2 handed awkward process. So much of a hassle that's it's just not practical. I purchased it to use on my 70-200mm but as I said it's a 2 handed tug of war with end of the lens and stretchy neoprene. I'm sending back. Sorry LensCoat. 3Only if it was easier to put on. I hate dealing with lens caps. You see something that triggers your shutter itch, and you run and grab the camera. The moment is still strong--you haven't missed the "Kodak Moment." You bring the camera up to your eye and--Dammit! The lens cap is on!So you take it off and then spend another couple of seconds thinking about where to put the damn thing. By the time you put it away and bring the camera back to your eye to take the shot, the moment is gone. It's because of situations like that, I decided to go on the prowl for a solution.I considered making my own solution with cloth or cardboard and elastic band, but then I thought, maybe someone already made something like it and turned it into a product. And that's where we are now. I found LensCoat and bought one.I knew I had to make modifications to LensCoat even before I bought it, so it's not that LensCoat is the 100% solution I needed--it simply cut down the time I had to spend on making the cover aspect of my solution. In addition to LensCoat, what I did was to fix a nylon string through the label flap and then tie it around my lens, so that I can quickly pull off LensCoat and not have to think about where to put it -- I just let it hang. While hanging, it does not get in the way of me shooting, whether in landscape or portrait orientation. The soft material of LensCoat means it does not clang against the camera/lens, so when shooting a video, it won't introduce unwanted noise. The only thing that's annoying about the LensCoat is that it's stretchy material makes it hard to put on a lens that has a petal-shaped lens hood. You absolutely need both hands to pull and stretch the LensCoat so that it would go over the petal shapes. My suggestion is that a new product should be developed, where there's a quick-release clamping system, where in the open position, the opening is wide enough so you could just slip the LensCoat on without needing to pull and stretch it (which wastes time and requires both hands). Then once it's on, you just close the clamp and it's nice and secure. The clamp can be inserted between neoprene layers so it won't knock against the camera/lens and make noises (or scratch them). 4Perfect fit on the Nikon HB-73 hood! Gotta love the feel and smell of fresh neoprene! Sounds a little weird, right? What's even better is it fits the hood for my Nikkor 300m f/4 PF perfectly! I can now stop fighting with getting the lens cap on and off while the hood is mounted to the lens. The front of the hoodie even has extra thick padding. Highly recommended! 5Better than OEM plastic caps in most respects I bought two of these, using the manufacturer's chart for sizing. The medium fits the lens I bought it for well. The small that I bought is a bit loose on the lens I bought it for, so sizing is important. The great thing about these is that they are unlikely to fall off or get knocked off the lens. The cushion in the base of the hoodie protects your lens much better than a plastic lens cap. I think I'm less likely to lose this than I would a plastic cap, but it isn't quite so easy to slip into my hip pocket quickly. 5Well made, but just wrong for use with the ... Well made, but just wrong for use with the camera unless you have three hands. The diameter of the flat circle is totally adequate for the lens, but the design of the cylinder part of the lens cover causes it to contract inwardly. This makes it very very difficult to put on. Would have preferred that the cylinder part be non elastic or have a much larger diameter at the entry diameter. 1Keep your 14-24/2.8 like new! I bought this to use while I tested out the Nikon 14-24/2.8. The plastic lens cover is known to scratch the lens hood through normal usage. However, I found this to be really useful as it folds up and can be put into a pocket when not in use. It has a hard plastic plate in front to provide protection to the lens. It comes in a number of colors and is an inexpensive piece of insurance. I'm looking into other products from LensCoat for my other lenses. 5Pricey, yes - but so's your lens Thanks to the previous reviewers, this Hoodie now protects the bulbous front element of my 14-24mm. It also fit the lens hood (HB-40) of the 24-70mm F/2.8 in case you wanted to know. Pricey for sure - but so's the glass. Having the Hoodie allows me to keep the glass covered in dusty environments, yet pops off easily -- and stores folded in half (with the stiffener removed). More convenient than putting the original cap in my back pocket. 5Very well build soft in touch and rugged material I bought this lens hood (size Medium) to replace the oem lens cover that I lost. It looks like it was made for the Tamron wide angle lens SP 15-30 mm,fit nicely over and protect lens from scratch and dust it also stay on lens without creating extra room when you put lens in tight space inside your carry bag. 5
