Customer Reviews

Cuts great, coating wears off fast. Purchased the 1-1/4" hole saw to install some 3/4" conduit fittings, and it make a great hole! Only complaint is that some of the white coating came off with the first hole (the first 3/4-1"). I only used it to drill into wood siding. Oh, even with the windows to pry out the wood it still is difficult and I find it easier to unscrew the saw from the mandrel and remove the wood from the hole saw! 4Handy for any shop I used this to cut a hole in a 1 thick piece of 6061-T6 aluminum. I didn t have a machine slow enough with enough torque to use this as I would have liked. I settled on a Jet 16 drill press and it worked but At 200 rpm it was indeed too fast. Chip removal was a problem as they built up in the cut-slot and saw teeth and prevented further cutting so periodically I had to remove the cutter, clean out the slot before proceeding. Despite verifying the tram on the drill press prior to starting the hole saw cut at a slight angle. Don t know why. After the job was done I mounted the arbor-hole-saw combination in a lathe and measure the run-out. It measured about 0.018 which I consider excellent and assembly eccentricity wouldn t account for an angled cut. Overall an excellent tool, worked well, survived the job sharp and ready for continued use. 5Lenox hole cutter The hole saw is of high quality, and does a perfect job of making holes. It gives a perfect hole time after time. I used it recently to make 58 holes in 3/8 plywood to hold poker chips. The result was flawless. I am working to make a complete set of these items. I have used others, but prefer Lenox. The removal slots are well designed and work very well to remove plugs. I cleaned out after one hole, and I cleaned out after four holes, having the same ease of removal of the plugs. I recommend this tool. 5Quality and Rugged American Mfr'd Holesaw I have depended on Lenox Tools for many years for field installations in vehicles. They have stayed consistent in quality and practical design with out getting trendy. I am so pleased with this hole saw's design and performance, while still being able to use the Lenox mandrels I've had for years. It cut through hard-steel better than I had expected and unlike the majority, if not all of the competitors, Lenox still manufactures their products in the USA! 5Excellent Hole Saw I am a big fan of Lenox hole cutters, band saw blades, etc. Many of their products are produced in the USA, at a very reasonable price. Most of my cutting is in Aluminum and these hole saws are the best I have used for that purpose. They cut a very clean hole and the angled slots with access holes, make it easy to slide screw driver in if a part needs to be ejected. The Lenox hole saws are all I buy now if I am cutting anything up to 3/16" thick. Watch your RPM's and use a cutting fluid or the Lenox Lube Tube (less messy). 5Excellent Hole Saw Not much to say, except it's an excellent hole saw. It was used for drilling through a truck bed to make way for a B & W Gooseneck Hitch. It worked really well. Not sure about wood, but the truck bed drilling went perfect. I started the drill in reverse for about 10 - 20 seconds. This started a nice circle/round groove. Then changed to forward. Excellent hole saw. I already had other Lenox hole saws and wanted to keep the same. Again, excellent hole saw. 5Not the best for metal Well, was happy when I first purchased this. Used it a few times with notching holes in some mild steel using cutting oil and it worked good for about 10 cuts. Had about 20 cuts to make and it broke on the 10th cut. Was told by a few people to get Milwaukee hole saws, but got a good deal on this one. Not a very good deal anymore that it s broke this early in it s usage. Just snapped the threaded end off. The gaps on the rear look to be the problem instead of a solid casting. Worked good till it broke. May be better for wood than any type of metal. But for metal hole cuting I will be going with the Milwaukee hole saws from now on. Not sure if I missed the return date or this item just doesn t have a return policy. But it shows that I can no longer return this item. Hope this helped. 2Holy saw I'm using this in an industrial setting and it has performed very well. Cutting holes in 1 1/4" laminated particle board work surfaces. Cuts right through many, many surfaces without becoming dull. Trying to cut down on costs, I have tried many other hole saws including the IRWIN 373212BX 2-1/2-Inch Bi-Metal Hole Saw and depending on what you're trying to cut through, it's actually a great saw. However it doesn't work for me because the ejection slot is very hard to work with, because of the depth of the surfaces I'm cutting. The "Speed Slot" ejection slots on this Lenox hole saw are invaluable for ejecting the plugs. That feature alone sells me on this saw. Some of the other saws I've tried have wobbled like a virgin's knees in a cathouse. That can become pretty dangerous and just plain no fun. I have yet to have one of these even slightly out of round. I'll continue to order these hole saws, because it seems as though it is better than any of the many others I've tried.***Wife edit-- a virgins knees? Really? Thats what comes to mind when you think of saw blades? What a weirdo. 5great saw great tool bought for notching steel 14 gauge tubing for welding, amazed on how well they cut and last, I bought a few more of them as I had to cut some 1/4 steel so a pipe would fit through it,I drill/sawed over 24, 1/4" steel plates with one saw and it was still going good, I did keep a light oil on it during the cutting process, 5works well for the intended purpose I was worried that this would be a one-use item for drilling metal. I am pleased to report that worry was unfounded. That being said, it is clearly designed to drill through wood and it drills through wood extremely quickly and cleanly. On metal, unless you are using a drill press and have the target material very securely tightened down, the teeth have a tendency to walk about a little bit, as in the center is not perfectly centered in relation to the diameter, resulting in a slightly wider hole than the outer diameter of the saw. This is to the order of 1/16 to 1/10 which is not heinous, but all the same is not exactly a precision instrument. For my purposes though it performs spendidly and carves through 1/16" sheet steel as fast as I need it to, and have done so as many times as I have needed to without any observable dulling. 4
