Great when you use it right. (I probably didn't)This product was easy to connect using my Smart Life app and Google assistant. It worked very well until I killed it.Why I accidentally killed it: This product's adhesive (3M) was clearly designed to stick to non-porous surfaces. It didn't stick really well to drywall. (I had intended to run it along the ceiling edge of my closet walls). When it kept falling down (especially after it warmed from being on) I decided to staple it up.DON'T. DON'T. DON'T staple THROUGH the light strand. The bands that run the length of it are all conductors.Even extra double-sided tape didn't help after it warmed up. Find another way to secure it to nonporous surfaces.I will likely buy it again - without killing it.4Really wanted to love, but not reliableI really wanted this product to work. It was the perfect controller for a wireless lighting setup for my sons HS jazz band setup. I planned on buying and using over 50 of them. Unfortunately with less than 1 hour of testing on it, I lost the ability to turn it off (goes full green), and I can't get full blue or full red.At first it worked great, and I even ordered a second so I could make sure the group function worked the way I wanted it to. Unfortunately after about 30-40 minutes of use it flat out quit following the app. I have tried it with multiple power supplies and 4 different LED strips, (30/meter 60/meter and 120/meter) to make sure it wasn't the LED's themselves but on none of them will it work correctly. I did a full reset according to the help documentation but that didn't fix the problem. It's as if RED won't turn on except to make white. No other color using red will work.It's really too bad, as I had such high hopes. It was the perfect solution to my needs. I was explaining away the other bad reviews as user error, but I don't think I have messed up here. (I work in television sound and lighting so I deal with lighting tech all day long).Perhaps if the quality control was better it would have continued to work. I guess I'm glad I found this out for myself now before I bought 50 of them.I will update once the second one arrives as to whether or not it has similar problems.1FlawlessEasy to use, and setup. Works with Alexa, but not with Google Home as of 8/22/2017. They are currently working to integrate it with Home. NOTE:. This unit will control up to 144watts, many of the other units only control 72 watts. Great deal!5Great Seller, but not a great product.I have 2 different routers. I set the LED's 4 feet from my routers. The routers are made by different companies, ones older, ones brand new. I follow the instructions and try to connect to wifi (2.4ghz) it goes through the process, starts the LED controller, and then it never shows up on the wifi connection. The device is never seen again, and I have to factory reset before I can connect to it in anyway. Even went through all the troubleshooting steps when it couldnt find the LED controller in the app.With all of that said, the seller sent me a 2nd controller, but it too will not connect to my routers. I honestly think these are just not very good. I tried connecting to other routers too, outside of my home, it just never connects right. With that said too, I have ordered the same controller from another company as well, and it also would not connect. These magichome wifi led controllers just dont work.4Dancing Lights with other than just an iPhone or iPad... I purchased this controller to control it with Alexa. By using my Alexa I can turn it off, on and change colors, but as far as it working with music (dancing lights) it doesn t work with your music from other sources othere than what is on your iPhone or iPad. It would be a big five star if it would work with music from Alexa, Pandora or any other source of music. 4Set LED color and dimming level using Alexa! Highly recommend this product! Although the description says it only turns the LED strip on or off using Alexa commands, I have found that in fact the product provides much more functionality using Alexa (having named my device light strip in the app). I can use the command set lights strip to 50 or any number 1-100 To achieve full control over dimming. I can also set colors by saying, e.g., set light strip to red . It even worked with lavender. So this product provided way more functionality than I expected it to. They must have improved the Alexa skill without updating the description. 5these are just the Bee's Knee'sthese little things are powerful and just the bee's knee's so far works up to 5 meters of light strip. 4 of them are very close to sinking up to the same timing. I put the strips on vertical poles in the yard for christmas decor. i have sealed the units in waterproof containers. have outdoor speakers , have to set the mic sensitivity to low so street traffic wont effect the operation.5Not Worth ItI find myself CONSTANTLY (about twice a week) having to reset it back to factory settings because it either stops working or goes offline and back into pairing mode. I'm going to buy a new led lighting strip to see if that helps. Otherwise, I won't ever be purchasing a replacement again. ALSO, the first one stopped working because it looked like it started melting around the pins. The company replaced it without question but it looks like I wasn't the only person to have this happen too. I no longer allow it to be anywhere near anything that's easily flammable.1I do like the app it has This is a decent bulb. The color spectrum is a wide variety but the dim and bright modes don't differ very much. It also "comes offline" a lot of times which is frustrating. I just have to turn it off and back on again to work. I do like the app it has, it's easy to use and it works with Alexa. 3Hard to setup but don't give up...It took me 3 times to set it up. When you reset device count to 5 fast and unplug and replug 3 times. Works great. When I was ready to send it back I could only connect directly to device and control it. Just keep trying to add it turn off your cell signal and turn on bluetooth. Make sure you don't have more than 1 wireless connections saved on your phone in your house. Once setup correctly you can name it at zone other devices in groups. I'm testing tonight with the mic playing pandora over loadspeaker and its working great so far. Good luck. They need better instructionsUpdate 2-27-2020I was able to connect to google assistant, Now I say "Hey Google turn on the steps" or "Hey Google turn the steps blue" or "Hey Google put the steps to 50%" etc...Don't give up trying to set this up. Really cool functionality. Led can be changed to most colors and have a few various effects including rainbow, strobe, pulse, and fade plus a few others.The bulb does require wifi to work and be manipulated. I would appreciate some bluetooth functionality.Overall a great LED smart bulb and I would probably buy a couple for rooms throughout my home.Each bulb can be individually configured. 5Did I get a dud ?I bought this product to swap out my Infrared led controller remote because this had more features and I don't have to worry about loosing that tiny remote all the time. I set it up and it seems to work fine apart from one issue the controller emits a terrible high pitched noise whenever it's on. It can be plugged into a power source and not do it, but once you plug in the led lights it starts whining terribly. I'm not sure if mine is just defective or if it's not strong enough for my led strip 10foot but for $15 I'm not really happy. My friend had the same product and I tested it out on the same led strip and had no problems so I think my product is defective. The led lights still turn on and the wifi works but the high pitch noise is a no go.Update: I was messing around in the app and discovered that when controlling the individual RBG channels the frequency changes. Example, when I turn off the reds and blues and just have the greens on there's no noise AS LONG AS the greens are at 100% anything less then that and the buzzing starts same with the red and blue. So unless I want full red full green or full blue I'm listing to the buzzing that's audible from the next room.1Kind of works with Alexa... but not really.This smart bulb claims to be Amazon Alexa compatible, however it is only partially compatible. You can use Alexa to turn the device on and off and you can control the colors through the Alexa app but you cannot set the colors in a routine or control scenes with Alexa. This renders it fairly useless. Also, the light seems to lose connection quite a lot while none of my other devices have this problem. Finally, it got into some kind of flashing on and off mode and the only way I could correct it was to turn it off and back on. The device app does work though so if you don't care about using it through Alexa then it is probably a little better but still not great.2Read meSurprisingly good and very easy to use. If you follow the directions which 99% of the people do not which is why they leave bad reviews that it doesn't work, it will work just fine. Make sure you download the app and make sure you have it blinking when you try to connect otherwise you cannot connect and when you connect it to your Amazon Alexa you have to put it in Bluetooth mode again and make sure your light is blinking before you can connect it to the Amazon Alexa. Only downside about this is that it's only 7 watts.5
