    I use diamond sharpeing plates and hand "files" this cleams them up like nothing else!I have sharpened with oil stones, Japanese water stones, diamond paste, a Tormek system and a Worksharp 3000 over twenty years. That is until I found diamond sharpening plates, and numerous hand-help diamond files, or credit card plates.While they can be used dry, I do use a Paul Seller's technique of using glass cleaner or a little dish soap with some water in spray bottles to keep the stone clean as metal particles build up.Regardless of using that technique or dry, I find the diamonds do clog and while I have successfully used soft white artist erasers with great success, I am always on the look out to improve my techniques or make my amateur woodworking better. So I bought this Lansky Eraser Block LERAS. I wish I had found it years ago. It always works for me and I spend time congratulating myself on how smart I was to buy it. That helps, during those periods where I am struggling to get a fine edge on a chisel or plane iron by hand, which at times can be a very, very humbling experiences for me. 5Five StarsThis reaser black cleans anbd polishs most knives, also cleans old chrome 5great cleaning blocks/spongesexcellent for cleaning sharpening rods for Lanskey rods and other makers rods as well. Cleans the rod pores of residue left behind by sharpening and fully restores the sharpening ability after the rod pores get clogged and turn black from residue. 5Works Great but doesn't lastdoes job but doesn't last long. 1 knife (10% Rust & Ox Stain). It works great but would recommend purchasing in bulk if more than 1 knife or if it has over 30% Rust stains. 4works as Lansky designed it to work.this is shaped like an eraser, has similar consistency,and is a mild abrasive, works well on non polished metal surfaces. Not for highly polished surfaces. 5PerfectHave been looking for a long time to find a product to clean my ceramic rod, these are PERFECT. Removes metal from rods Quick and Easy. 5WorksWorks good on cleaning off multiple sharpening stones. Even a couple blades that had some hard to get off stuff on them. Have to be careful because small pieces will come off of block. It should last awhile though. Id recommend. 4definite needI didn't think much about cleaning my grinding stones after I sharpen my knives. I was shocked to go to the "knife" counter at two of our local stores and find that they didn't even know what the item was. So knowing they existed and not wanting to keep searching I found it here. Perfect, cleans both the round rod type and the triangle Spyderco rods. A necessary item for those owning crock stick sharpeners. 5
