Customer Reviews

Phenomenal speakers for classical stereo HiFi setupPhenomenal speakers. I used them for a classical analogue stereo setup (2.0 I guess) and they just sound amazing. I wanted to go for the HiFi sound from the 80's and found it with these speakers. I was afraid that nowadays all speakers will have to be paired with a powered subwoofer. Not these, they sound phenomenal all on their own from low, mid to high frequency. Really happy with them.5... the audio output of these speakers -- they sound fantastic. Very detailedI have no quibble at all with the audio output of these speakers -- they sound fantastic. Very detailed, airy, dynamic. What more could you want? I expected that they might be a bit weak on the bass side, having 6.5" woofers, but I was wrong. I have a pretty beefy subwoofer so I wasn't too concerned. My Yamaha receiver has a "pure direct" mode which, frankly, sounds better than the processed/equalized modes with music. My concern was that that mode bypasses the subwoofer. Well, turns out, no problem. I had to double check that the sub was, indeed being bypassed because with music, the bass was quite strong. The construction of the cabinets is also good. The bass drivers have stamped frames, rather than the more robust cast frames. The crossovers appear to be reasonably good quality (air coil inductors for treble, solid core for bass, if that is important to you.)I wasn't too wild about the vinyl cherry finish, however. Too me it looked too much like what it was -- fake wood. Like a 1970's LTD station wagon. I appreciate that Klipsch puts the money where it really counts but I would have paid more for a real wood veneer finish. I would have bought the rf7's if except for their size. My solution was to by buy a couple of 'blemished' units, strip off the vinyl and refinish them myself in real veneer. Now I have great sound AND great looks!Klipsch, if you're paying attention, I'd vote for offering a higher-end speaker that's not the size of a refrigerator. Just my 2c.4Great sound but the material box (MDF) is lacking in quality....Manufacturing speaker box quality material needs improving. The ebony finish looks great but does not hold well. Sound quality it is great5Great speakers for the moneyUpgraded to these from HTIB satellite speakers. Huge upgrade and couldn t be happier. Great sound quality.5Highly recommended mid-price speakersI am a speaker-aholic. I think I own 7 different sets, all of which are housed in different rooms in my house. I also am a music lover who listens to lots of different types. I still own a pair of Klipsch RP3's which are the main speakers in our movie set up. I'm now using these as the main music speakers, along with a HSU subwoofer. I was preliminarily apprehensive that these speakers might be too bright in their sound. At the same time I thought my previous floor standers were too laid back. During the first two days I was worried because they sounded too bright, but then over a period of about a week they became very smooth and clear. Right now I would say they are the best speaker I've ever owned -- though I've always stuck to middle range prices, believing super expensive ones were excessively hyped. They have a very good detailed sound. I have not evaluated them without the subwoofer, but I believe every half serious listener should use one anyway. I bought mine here as an open box pair and they were cosmetically perfect.5Quality issuesHave a defect or damaged on the underside of the speaker; missing four screws cannot be installed. Should be the problem is of the manufacture. The package has broken. Now the price is rising and new order the other one need waiting long time so, I hope have that the cash compensation.2A worthy upgradeI also have the Klipsch R-26, the entry level model one step below the RP series, and having done side by side comparisons I can confidently say the RP is worth the upgrade. It is very sensitive, so I had to adjust my speaker channel balance because the RP speaker is about 20% louder (or what my ears perceive to be 20% louder) when at the same distance. In addition, it has a more clear sound profile and things like kick drums and bass drums have a more concise thump to them. It's hard to describe a speaker's sound without wading into subjective pseudoscience nonsense, but the RP is definitely an improvement over the entry level series when it comes to clarity, sensitivity and bass. Everything sounds more crisp, distinct, and impactful.Audio hits a point of diminishing returns and I'd say the RP is right on that cusp. Could you find an objectively better speaker than the RP? Yes. Is it going to cost you at least twice as much money? Also yes. At this price point you have to start spending a LOT of money to get an improvement that feels justified. It's not like budget Bluetooth speakers where an extra $20 can net you a significantly better audio experience. If you want a clear improvement over the RP series, be prepared to shell out $500 or $600 more per speaker.5Excellent sound for the price!Excellent sound when placed properly, full rich base for the size5Incredible Sound QualityI love listening to music and enjoy home theater sound. These speakers perform exceptionally well in both formats. For music they handle down to about 40Hz. At low to medium listening levels these speakers really don't need a subwoofer. However at the louder listening levels the bass tends to fade in background, so a subwoofer is necessary for home theater enjoyment. The sounds are crystal clear and sound stage is spacious when paired with a Marantz receiver. I personally have not heard better sound quality from a set of speakers at this price point. One would normally have to spend 4 to 5 times or more to get an equal or better sound quality. The Klipsch Reference Premier Series speakers are an audiophile quality performer at a price that often won't break the budget. I'd highly recommend the Reference Premier Series of Klipsch Speakers to anyone serious about their audio sound quality.5Yes.These speakers are truly superb. That said, I would have gone for the 280's if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on these (under $600 for the pair including tax & shipping). The 280s are simply more of what's great about these. I compared these side-by-side with a pair of Revel Concerta2 F35s and liked these about the same in sound quality if slightly different in tonality (those cost about $750 each) and with a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 10s ($1200 each) which are *terrific* but reminded me of what my Grado floor speaker would sound like if they transformed their headphones into floor speakers... amazing for 15 minutes but headache-inducingly accurate (read #sharp!). These Klipsch 260's are incredibly melodic and easy to listen to for hours.MISSING from these speakers is a truly great bottom end. It's got base, but not the kind that is going to impress you, grab you by the shirt, or even blow your doors when it's just part of the music (that you didn't even know was there because most systems cut it out because they can't go there). Pair these speakers with an SVS SB2000 12" 500-watt Powered Subwoofer (or better yet 2 of them!) and your budget system won't sound budget at all. Yikes.Running this off a Yamaha A-S801SL Natural Sound Integrated Stereo Amplifier (Silver), and AudioQuest Rocket 33 Speaker Cable (15 feet/pair)- Silver BFA Bananas.Great soundstage and musicality.5
