Customer Reviews

It seems as though I either got a bad one, or there are some flaws here Right out of the gate ... It seems as though I either got a bad one , or there are some flaws here . The small switch that locks it closed is both unnecessary and tends to push itself into the locked position when you insert it into your pocket . The cam on the spring assist is set to high and makes opening with one hand difficult . Wet hands , NO WAY . That trapezoid shaped button that releases the blade , it engages with little more than a soft breeze . So start growing out your fingernails , because you will be spending a lot of time bending over and picking up that blade . Most of the time it happens when the knife is closed , so this makes it even harder to open because the point of the blade jams into the plastic spacer between the scales . It does work about 75% better in your left hand because the one sided rubber thing gives your fingers a grip and the clip on the other side allows you to slide your thumb up while you open it . If it weren't for that , it would have been one star . Oh , the liner lock is nice . 2Nothing Special It's a nice size, the stripper notch is nice if you have good blades. Other than that, this razor knife manufactured by Klein Tool isn't up to standard in my opinion bc the lock button sticks all the time. Doesn't sound like a big deal huh? Well when you are dealing with a very sharp blade you don't want/need malfunctions people. I work in a coal mine doing Tracking and Comms. We use our razor knives all the time as others need their razor knives for other jobs they perform. Sorry Klein Tool, you went too cheap :) :( . 2my go to for utility knives ive owned two of these (first one a friend permanently borrowed), three Milwaukee fastbacks, and a kolbalt folder. the fast backs always fail in the same manner; their blade retention mechanism fails and the blade falls out while cutting something (usually plastic shipping straps). the kolbalt was great for the price i paid, but its made of plastic and feels very chinsy in the hand. these kleins however are absolutely a pleasure to use. easy open and close (throw some silicone lube on the hinge for even smoother action), feel great in the hand, and the blade never falls out on me. the wire stripping sections ok for what it is, i use it to skin wire in the middle if im trying to use one ground line for multiple points, but i wouldnt use it as a replacement for a t stripper. 5Superb Action This is the best utility knife I've ever owned - and I've tried them all over the last quarter-century. It is easy, almost too easy, to open and close, and mine at least stays open or closed with no problem. I've read reviews to the contrary, and I guess those must be lemons, or else I'm just lucky. Anyway, for me, the most important attribute of a utility knife design is that it is easy to deploy from the pocket and go from closed to open with one hand and in one move, every time. Being able to close it with one hand is a huge bonus. And, of course, it's easy to remove and change the blade, too. This design succeeds where many others don't even try. The push-button is brilliant, although it takes a few minutes to get used to it. Once you do, you might become a knife snob. Then again, it's a Klein - it's not for the handyman or the hobbyist. 5Works like a charm, Just not smooth to open. And can't use lennox gold blades. Flaws:Big, Bulky, Heavy. When you open it feels like sand paper - Not smooth at all even with lubricant. Can't open one handed even after 2 months break in period.Replacement razors stick together and compartment hard to get open without fingernails.Didn't come lubricated.5 minutes after writing this review I swapped out the crap blades that it came with, with lennox gold blades but the auto loader jammed, got it un jammed, took out two blades thinking they were thicker but even with one it still wont load properly. Wont even let me open the tool. Now having to scratch up the slider more to un jam again. Sigh Docking another star.Neutral:Comes with some razors, not great quality but worth noting.Happy with:Auto load function, Also note you can manually flip the razors around to use both sides of the blade to not be wasteful.Tight fitmentIn order to fold, Blade must be fully retracted - prevents unnecessary slicing if you know what i mean. Also love that I can extend just as much as needed.Carries well in belt line despite its size and weight, Feels great in hand and hasn't slipped out yet.Has place to put pointer finger for precise control.Auto loader uses magnets to pull new blade in place Just beware if around sensitive things.Surprisingly the finish is holding up well despite being punished. Still as orange as the day I bought it. I also EDC it. 3Very high quality utility knife. This solved all the problems that I experienced with my previous utility knife. Old knife was bulky, wouldn't fold completely (by design), did not lock when folded, and retracting blade wouldn't stay out during use due to poor positioning of the slide mechanism. This Klein knife is compact and very good quality. Push button lock keeps knife folded and unfolded. Non-retracting blade, so no need to worry about blade movement during use. Easy to grip and looks good. Bought a second one as a spare. Update: After more than a year of heavy duty use in some dirty outdoor environments, this utility knife still operates like new. The opening action is still extremely smooth, and blade retention and release is flawless. My other knives that I keep as loaners don't even compare with the quality of this Klein. I'm still very impressed with the build quality of this tool. 5Dangerous It pains me to write a bad review on a Klein product, never would I think that I would have to. I have used there tools for years. This knife is dangerous, because the release on the blade assist jams. Forcing the operator to either use two hands. If you are up on a ladder and need it trying to use both hands to open the knife can be even more dangerous especially while working with electric. The individuals that designed this product should take this into factor. I am returning this knife, regardless I am still a loyal customer to Klein tools, and it will stay as such. 1Returned after 2 weeks Did a lot of research before choosing this Klein Tools 44133 knife as I remodel homes and wanted a quality unit. Returned it today after 2 weeks of use. Worked fine at first (I'm not a constant user of utility knives) but then it started refusing to retract the blade. Discovered the reason was that the blade was coming slightly unseated. But then it got worse in that the blade wouldn't stay in while working, even doing something as simple as scoring sheetrock. The blade would come out so far that the locking half-circles were showing. Note that I was only on the second or third blade that came with the knife. Not a quality tool at all. As other reviewers noted, apparently something has changed in how it is being manufactured compared to the past. 1This is an excellent utility knife ~ Ergonomically designed for comfortable use ~ High quality product I had purchased a package of Stanley knife blades to use in my old utility knife. When I opened the package, oil was dripping from the blades and got all over my clothes. While I realize that it's necessary to have oil on blades, the Stanley blades had so much excess oil that I ended up throwing them in the trash, along with my old knife.I checked the reviews on Amazon and decided to give the Klein Tools utility knife a try. Far superior to my old knife, this one is ergonomically designed, and very easy on your hands. You can use it for long periods of time, without any discomfort. The cutting quality is first rate, and the rubber handle grips make it feel nice in your hands. The internal blade storage area holds 6 additional blades. The bottom line is that this is the best utility knife that I've used to date. It's very high quality, feels good in your hands, and does a great job of cutting without having to use a lot of force. 5Wow Step aside Stanley, this is my new favorite. Button for changing blades makes it quick and the blade in the handle storage keeps me from having to get up & walk to the other side of the room. The shape seems to automatically cut easier. Not that I was expecting anything less than perfect, all my Klein Tools are great. I wish I had more, but this is a great addition to my shop. 5
