A nice device to expand usageI got this to use with my tablet that has only one type C port. It seems to work good and allows me to use usb drives and a portable disk drive. The only thing I had a problem with is using the tablet charge cable with it. The tablet wouldn't charge, it needs to be plugged directly in to a power source. I like having this device for flexibility of using difference devices in the ports.5Excellent USB 3.0 performance and full powered while properly protecting your host device from power backfeed.Reviews tend to get lumped together so let me say I am reviewing the Kingwin 7 port version (4 USB 3.0 ports + 3 charge ports) which Kingwin designates as model Kingwin KW-HUB-7U3. Know what's nice? It doesn't back-feed power into the host device. So, power from the hubs's ac adapter stays out of your delicate computer motherboard. You may be asking, "Well, don't they all do like that?" No. Be careful. Many USB hubs with an ac adapter are not properly configured to protect your computer or other device from the hub's ac adapter power that should only be availble to the hub itself. Those other hubs improperly back-feeding power to your host can cause severe damage, or, at the very least, prohibit your device from shutting down because of the power improperly fed to it by that badly designed hub. I like this Kingwin KW-HUB-7U3.5Three StarsThis is a nice USB 3.0 hub. I have problems with ports 4-7 though --- they don't always work.After nearly 2 years of use, I constantly have problems with ports 4-7 not working and I frequently have to unplug everything and disconnect it from the computer and then carefully plug things back in 1 at a time to get the ports to work again.What happens is that I go to plug in a new device, like a USB Flash drive and nothing happens. The device powers up but Windows doesn't recognize it as being connected. Other devices already plugged into the hub continue to work though, until I unplug them.So this hub works ok, but only if you aren't moving devices around.2Do not buy. Save your money.Kingwin Aluminum 6-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 1 IQ Smart Charging Port for Tablets (KWZ-700) is horrible. It was slow transferring to begin with... but.... now that the '30' day window for returns is up (it was up 4 days ago on May 30th), now I am having issues with the item. Certain ports are not working. Something could be plugged in and all of a sudden it stops and 'disconnects'. And it sounds like something came 'loose' inside the device as well. I have used this maybe 6 times in the last 34 days. Thats it, 6 times! I shouldn't be having issues with it after only using it 6 times (and barely over a month!). So frustrating. Especially at the price I paid for this hunk of junk. I will never buy again from this company. Very disappointed.1Does not chargeThis item does not work. I have tried multiple different devices on it and none of the them will charge. All the lights come on and everything appears to be fine. However, nothing happens when the device is plugged in. Sadly, I waited to long before using it or I would definitely return it.2I'm EXTREMELY SATISFIED with my purchase and the functionality of the unit!I've slowly started adding things to my rig; I have utilized ports 1 & 3-7, skipping port 2. Why? idk lol, funny how things work out, huh? :)Here's the devices and their corresponding port numbers on the USB hub (photo attached). I wanted to list them so you can see that I'm running a pretty decent amount of seemingly power-hungry devices,in terms of running off a single USB 3.0 port to a 7-port USB hub. Full disclosure: All devices listed below are USB 2.0, with the possible exception of the thumb drive, it may be 3.0, it's unlabeled, but purchased in the last yr:[1] Samsung Android watch[2] **empty for now**[3] WiFi dongle[4] GPS dongle[5] BT dongle[6] Thumb drive[7] Logitech 9000 WebcamAll devices appear in the Devices & Printers area of Windows 8.1 Pro AND WORK!The one thing I cannot attest to is the amount of power that it provides to whatever is plugged into it. This was never a concern for me, nor is one now. I have had the Samsung Android watch plugged in for about 30 mins now, started at 58% and it is now at 95%, so not bad on charging small devices! I'd also like to add that this USB hub came with a AC power supply for external power that I have not yet used, even after all of the above have been plugged in and working. I will end up using it, just to be sure all devices receive the proper mount of "juice", but in my initial testings.5Best USB Hub I have yet to own.........This hub does the job. I use one with each of my desktops since getting to the USB ports on my desktop means getting to the back of my computer. This not only gives me one connection, as a simple USB extension cable would do, but four ports and even with all four used with flash drives and hard drives connected to them, the device loads each and gives you a screen option to open the devices and there is no slow down in writing to them or loading from them. I like the blue light indicators. Great device. All four I purchased worked perfectly out of the box and continue to do so now over 6 months since they were purchased.5DecentDecent starter product does the job well. I would strongly recommend however you invest in a better one eventually as it would be more proficient. Two concerns; One, The hub can get quite hot when you plug your macs usb-c charger in. Two, If you disconnect one port all the others disconnect for a split second so if you're using the HDMI port for an external monitor please be aware. Overall though decent product.3Ok, but doesn't handle every USB device.I bought this for use with my Mac. It charges the iPhone and iPad and works with my Time Machine disc and with another external backup. It doesn't work with the Logitech USB dongle I need for my wireless keyboard, my third party webcam, and it doesn't sync my iPhone. Those are the only things I've tested. I'm glad I didn't buy the larger one since I'd just have more ports that I can't use except with some devices.3Pleasantly surprisedSkeptical at first but found myself pleasantly surprised at this well built USB 3.0 hub & charging port. From the cables to the housing of the mains and the a/c adapter quality was definitely made evident even though housed in plastic casing. Performance-wise there were no problems encountered as it promptly connected my 2 TB usb 3.0 hard drive to my laptops' and charged my wife's samsung phone and the new ipad air 2 in a reasonable amount of time. One caveat though is the size since the mains (13cm X 3cm X 2.5cm) and the a/c adapter (13 cmX 5.5cm X 2.5cm) together with the cables, not that heavy though, still occupies some volume if you'll be travelling a lot. Overall satisfied with this product and hope it will serve me well.4
