They look beautiful but there are issues you should be aware ofWe bought a dozen of these for a MCM renovation. They look beautiful but there are issues you should be aware of:1) If being used outdoors, there is an additional $20 lens you need to buy to prevent moisture from coming in on top2) When you buy the $20 lens mentioned above, it may bother you that the top and bottom are not symmetrical and then you will want/need to buy the diffuser for the bottom. Now this affordable light has gone up in price by over 50%.3) The construction of the actual bulb holders are questionable. I have not been able to cleanly screw in quite a few bulbs and they then become cross-threaded and break trying to get them out. I did see this mentioned in another review and this is not a problem I would expect with these.Overall, great look, but for the price I would expect slightly better construction. I just hope they last as we just installed a dozen and I really don't want to have that expense again. 3Love these LightsI used these lights on a privacy wall around my Deck. The indirect down light that they create is perfect for this application. Everyone who sees them at night comments on them. Being Designer Fixtures they are not cheap, but the quality is pretty good .I'm very happy with these lights . I used very low wattage L.E.D bulbs ( 25 watt equivalent) , very easy on the eyes. 5Good light, no lenses, 4.5" installI ordered this for an exterior wall facing the Pacific Ocean, so this light is going to be put to the test. It seems sturdy enough - out of the box presentation was good and the build quality seems good. The mount is indeed 4.5" and measures exactly spot on. There are no lenses to protect the sockets (two sockets, one facing up, one facing down) so I do wonder if that will lead to premature failure as moisture and elemnts get in. On the positive side, no glass lenses to clean or break!A really good looking light. It looks just like it does in the picture and is a nice down (and up) light for a contemporary home or office.Hope this helps. 4Great outdoor light fixture, compliance with dark sky, and contemporary look is a plusFor some reasons unknown to me, it's almost impossible to find contemporary styled outdoor lamp fixture.99% of the outdoor fixtures are the stagecoach wagon style lamps >> reflection of poor public taste??Anyway, this fixture's white matte powder coated finish looks great, and the fact that it accepts standard bulb type is great.I use LED buld on mine.Sized perfectly as well, IMO, especially the base mount to wall. 5Perfect light for my front porch door and preserves the darkness for the creatures that live around my homeIt's just the right amount of light to have at my front porch door. I had the electrician hook it up to an electric eye so that it cocmes on at dusk and turns off when the sun comes out. It matches the larger one that I have outside my garage- also on an electric eye.These dark sky lights are wonderful. They give us humans just enough light, while preserving the darkness for the woodland creatures that live near my home, so those that need to sleep in the night can and so those that must hunt under darkness in order to feed their young can do that. 5clunky and HUGE, much bigger than expected, cheaply madeThis is the length I wanted but the diameter is huge. I guess I missed that looking at the length? As a 'wet area' light? no way! The rain will get into this as the 'mouth' is so huge. I coated it with THREE coats of grey Rustoleum primer and then oiled bronze over than and sealer clear over that for our Hawaiian weather and salty spray. It is REALLY lightweight and CHEAP. Find a better made product. Anything I buy I will usually clearcoat before hanging but this one was so cheap I really should have returned it--time didn't allow that!good luck. If you install this anywhere it could rain or snow you will need to buy the "optional" $22 glass covers for this fixture. I called Kichler and they say it is necessary if installed where it can get wet. Not so optional... 1Hefty, feels like quality, unequal light patternsWe used 2 of these on a screened porch to provide glare-free indirect lighting. They look quite nice and are reasonably hefty which leads me to believe they are well constructed.Each fixture has 2 lightbulbs: One shines down and the other one up. The drawback is the way the light spreads away from the fixture. There are 4 separate bulbs between our 2 "identical" fixtures and every one has a different light pattern. Admittedly I am type A so this may not matter to you. I was unable to see a way to make an adjustment. 3Beautiful light for our homeSo far, I love these sconces. We are using them indoors. They take two bulbs, so one washes up and one washes down. They provide a lot of light! We are using dimmable LED bulbs and so far, it's been fantastic. If you have a modern / contemporary / or even rustic, woodsy home, these fit into the look perfectly.The challenge with our house is that it tends to be dark...even after we painted all the cedar ceiling and walls white. This light does a wonderful job of washing light both upward and downward, but also just providing ample general light. The beam is not too narrow/focused....it spreads outward enough to look natural. We are very pleased with our purchase. 5
