Lousy radio and too-bright LEDs There are two problems with this clock/radio: one is that the radio is really bad --- for cryin' out loud, it has an "antenna" that is nothing more than a thin limp piece of wire dangling out of the back..... no, that's no mistake: they DESIGNED it that way. (On first glance, I thought that was a loose leftover string, and almost decided to yank it off.) So probably partly because of that cheap excuse for an antenna, the reception on this thing is very poor, making the radio basically unlistenable.The second problem is with the LED readout: see those nice bright numbers in the photo of this thing? Well, they're WAY brighter in person --- so much so that someone IN ANOTHER BEDROOM complained to me that the clock's brightness (in MY bedroom) was keeping them awake. And make no mistake, I totally agree, because trying to sleep with this thing on the nightstand next to your bed is near impossible: the only way I get to sleep is to literally drop a bowl over it as a shield, and if that's not a silly way to live I don't know what is.I've had it for a few months now, hoping the over-brightness will burn itself down a bit, but no luck: I'll keep using this clock/radio only until I find a replacement that A) has a decent radio and B) has a liveable LED level. I'm giving this thing one star only because yes, it does keep accurate time and yes, it does have a decent alarm function --- other than that I hate it. 1Mostly great I really like my new clock. The green numbers make it easy to see without being harsh on my eyes in the morning. The only thing I'd like to change is the dial on the side where you set it to "alarm" or "radio" or "off" - it's small, and on the far side, and hard to switch between. If you keep it in the auto function as I do, it's not generally a problem, but if you turn your alarm on and off every day, it could get annoying. 4Not the Jensen I used to know. We had purchased two of these alarm clocks, one for each side of the bed. One of them would get in only a few radio stations on FM (it would not get our regular station I might add) and the other clock/radio would only get two stations, a disgusting and vulgar rock station and a hispanic station. The rock station played all the way across the dial from FM 88 thru FM 108, same song, with the hispanic station only smack dab in the middle. The sound on one was " somewhat okay" and the other was "poor quality". Very disappointing. The time set and alarm set were easy to complete and the display was nice and a soft green hue. You do have an option to awake to an alarm sound which is good because of the low quality of the FM tuner. Unfortunately we are returning them and looking for other alarm clocks. The iLuv looks promising but is pricier. We are torn regarding the value of the product. One of us was totally disappointed and the other was somewhat okay with spending $20 for this product. Would we buy them again? Most likely NOT! 1NOT WHAT I ORDERED You substituted a different alarm clock radio for the one I ordered and it is not what we wanted. My husband has a hard time dealing with technology and just wanted a simple alarm clock. I purposely did not buy the dual alarm clock radio for that reason and that is what you substituted and it does not have the volume and tuning knobs on the side. He is not happy and now I have to go through the hassle of sending this back to you. Next time give me the opportunity of declining the substitution please!!!!! 1Appeared Used; Makes Due I'm a bit disappointed that this "new" Jensen alarm clock had scuffs, scratches, and appeared to be used while the "refurbished" Sony alarm clock I also bought was in great condition although it was sold cheaper through the Amazon Warehouse for having imperfections (I've found none). My mother needed a new simple alarm clock and I was going to give it to her as a gift but instead I just told her it was an extra one I had lying around and got her something else. The clock appears to work fine but the radio is mediocre at best; it doesn't tune in well even for strong stations so she can't use that function which was another reason for the purchase. 2Well thought out layout. I recently bought an all push button two alarm clock radio, but my wife just could not figure out how to set I right consistently. I bought that one because our previous one was too easy change setting if she hit it in the middle of the night; which she often does from a dream. The all button one was susceptible to that too. This one is much better. It has conventional radio controls, and the buttons on top are spaced well, such that changing the settings accidentally is almost impossible. She likes it; she really likes it. 5No instructions! There was no instructions in the box for this clock! It got the best of me when I was trying to set up the radio with no alarms. It was purchased solely for a radio for my son. I couldnt figure out how to shut off the alarms (it ended up going off at 2am the first night on a school night) and ended up having to Google this model on radio and get help online because there is NO on off switch on the side of the radio to turn the alarms off. 4Good plug in alarm clock. Simple, yet it does what an alarm clock should do. It keeps time, even after a few months of use I have not had to adjust the it. The alarm sound and clock radio sound works well. The buttons work well too. The battery back up works great. We have lost power a few times since having this clock and this guy keeps the time. I do wish it had a dimmer switch for the green light display. I had to put a piece of window tint over the lens to dim out the green light. I prefer a more dark room to sleep in. 4Really nice clock radio. Please take time to read the instructions This is a very nice compact alarm clock radio. Comes with the best breakdown of instructions i have ever seen. Lots of stations pre-set but you can manually get them in clearer by fine tuning. Take time to read the instructions and you will be happy with this purchase. 5This is a perfect example of a basic This is a perfect example of a basic, no-frills clock. This replaced a Sony clock my wife and I own that automatically changed to daylight savings time. The only problem with the whole thing is that this was purchased before daylight savings time was moved on the calendar. The time on the old clock couldn't be easily changed and we were quite frustrated. After looking at several digital clocks, I came to discover that finding a clock that didn't do things automatically or had some sort of issue with it that people hated, was hard to find. This was one of the only ones that people gave good reviews on and didn't do things automatically. So far it has been working exactly as it should and I have no complaints whatsoever. 5
