Customer Reviews

Pricey but easy to useYou can buy a clamp like this at HFT for half the price. I do, but I keep a few of these around. It's the nearly parallel handle. They're easier to use. Same withthe spring clamps. If you look at cheaper clamps you'll see what I mean.5 stars if they weren't so pricey.4IT'S A WASTE!If there's a zero star, I would rate it zero... One word to DESCRIBE it... USELESS!!!1great clamps - reliable, and I trust the Irwin name. The bar clamp is an excellent invention and it's useful in so many different applications. I hadn't used a mini bar clamp until borrowing a cheap one from my neighbor. I used it to hold and glue a small item. The clamp I borrowed (not the Irwin clamp) was cheap, flimsy, unreliable but with some creative effort it worked.I immediately researched and and ordered the Irwin mini clamp. This product is well made, just like its larger brother, and very sturdy. I've now used this clamp a dozen plus times and it has worked flawlessly. I like the fact that it comes it a two pack. This is very helpful when working with small items and it gives you the flexibility to clamp items in two or more places. For being a mini bar clamp, this item has the ability to create incredible pressure when holding things together. I recommend this product, and suggest that you don't get one of the 'no name' cheap products available. I recommend this product to others and I'm confident it will meet your expectations.I hope find this review helpful. 5Easier to apply and remove than spring clamps, though with plenty grip pressure. These are well-designed clamps, easy to position and apply with good pressure. Press the lever and they spring loose. I'm glad that I can have effective clamping without fighting a heavy spring to position and then remove. They're so handy and quickly put in place that my main complaint has been not having enough of them, for example when positioning heavy fabric on a quilt-sized frame. This was a purchase to add to my stock. One negative to watch out for. The little soft yellow clamp pads have a tendency to run off and hide. Usually easy to spot on the ground, I've nonetheless lost a few for good. Irwin has been responsive when I called customer service to inquire about replacements, promptly sending a package of replacement pads, no charge. Trouble is, they've sent me the wrong ones twice..5Very limited use because of moving jaws. This is a good small ratchet clamp FOR CERTAIN THINGS. It works on flat things, but it doesn't do well on any thing that's round or curved. The wobble-head ends make it want to slip off the project too easy. It seems like all clamps now days have "wiggly" ends. Rigid ends would be preferred on most of my projects. In fairness to this clamp, it DOES do what I got it for VERY well. I needed it to squeeze the lock on a cam-lock cinch strap .But other things I've tried to use them for don't do so well because of those darned wobbly ends. I think it would be better maybe if 1 jaw was rigid & 1 was able to move.4TINYFrom the deceptive description: "A truly professional tool designed for heavy construction" Hah! This thing is tiny, plasticy, and almost worthless. Might clamp a few newspapers together. For $3.46. not worth the trouble to return it.1Smaller than pictured itemTiny. The pictures that show the clamp being used are much larger clamps.1Their perfumed scent is instantly headache inducing, why are clamps perfumed?Exactly what I wanted, with a stench I did not. These clamps smell like they have been soaking in a heavily perfumed bath. It is disgusting! The scent is so strong I am attempting to gas them off in the garage.I cannot use them in this state. They cause headaches within 10 feet. Yuck.3 days later, they still smell horrible. They are not gassing off very quickly.2Too small,Not at all what I expected. A tiny clamp maybe good for working on small wooden models. Picture is sorta misleading. Should something in the pic for scale of the size, like a hand or dollar bill.2wrong item shipped? IRWINQUICK-GRIPOne-Handed Mini Bar Clamp, 6", 1964742 The clamps I received were not the same as the photograph. I was expecting the clamps with yellow pads and curved clamp arm ($11.27 each) and what I received were the less expensive clamps with the black pads and angled clamp arm. (selling for $35.73 for the set of 4) . So I ended up paying close to $10 more thinking I was getting a better product. Confusing and misleading.... 2Good clamp for small projects The clamp surface area is nicely-sized, and the rubber is grippy, and bottom jaw slides up and down easily. The jaws do not come together cleanly however - the one I got pinches at the front. The handle works well when clamping down, though the un-clamp snap action is very jerky and forceful.Downside is that the clearance from the shaft to the start of the jaws is relatively small, only ~1 inch.It worked well enough for my small repair projects, but I will be looking elsewhere when searching for more clamps. 3I wish they were looser so I could easily maneuver the jaws onto less even surfaces easily Holds well, but swivel jaws are a bit tight. I wish they were looser so I could easily maneuver the jaws onto less even surfaces easily. Sometimes they don't want to cooperate as well. I clamp a variety of small and non square objects with these and I do have to adjust the jaws a bit to make them grip the way I want. It's not a huge problem, but it seems worth noting. The grip strength on these is excellent, I have no problems there.Overall, I'm very happy to have these clamps. 4To small for work. This item is small then i would have liked.2Great clamp for small jobs I basically purchased this to clamp a stack of business cards in order to paint the edges with acrylic paint. Any business card company will charge you an extra $50-100 to have this done. It cost me $15 for all the necessary tools to do it. This clamp did a great job. 5Not much of a tool. The clamp functions well. However, one firm clamping on wood and one of the tips broke off. The tip is not fixable. Would not recommend this as a usable tool, it's too flimsy.1so if you wish to purchase multiple clamps the 2-pack is a better choice. As other buyers have noted, the product received does not match the picture of the Irwin 1964742 6" clamp posted by Amazon. This item is identical to the clamps included in the Irwin 1964743 2-pack, so if you wish to purchase multiple clamps the 2-pack is a better choice. 3Disappointed I like this clamp but picture is misleading. If you purchase this expect newer version model 1964742, not the model picture which is 546ZR. Really disappointed ordered twice and receive incorrect clamp had to return. 1A disappointment due to misleading item picture I was disappointed that what I received was not what I was led to believe I was purchasing. I was expecting the clamps with yellow pads, curved clamp arm and slightly larger, easier to grip handle (as shown in the pictures) and what I received were the clamps with the black pads, angled clamp arm and very small, hard to hang onto handle. The clamps are very good and will work for my needs, so I won't be returning them. Just be aware that what you see is most likely not what you will get. 3
