Customer Reviews

Not exactly "Box Handler" gloves, in my opinion I work as a stocker in a relatively large hardware store and bought these gloves with the idea that sometimes, you get what you pay for, being that these were twice as expensive as the ones I was getting, maybe they might last twice as long, or longer.I chose this rating because they're about twice as expensive as other "Box Handler" gloves that I have bought in the past, and they lasted maybe a week or two longer.I started using them at the beginning of the year, and they lasted me through January and part way through February, whereas other ones would last about a month. They fit well and you can slip them off nicely and they started out with more grip than the cheaper ones, but they seem to wear faster than the cheaper ones for some reason. These would probably be good gloves if you don't handle boxes constantly. I handle boxes for 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. That's all I really do at that job is handle boxes. They're ok gloves, but not good gloves. I would say they're not worth the money. 3Not for a UPS/FedEx package handler. I am a part time unloader at FedEx Ground, and I purchased these gloves during the peak season. I found that these gloves were not that good for this. I am not surprised but I have been looking for a pair of gloves that I felt were comfortable and lasted long enough to be worth the money I invest (whether it is 1 day for $1, or 100 days for $100 does not particularly matter, just that I get the most for my money). If you are a loader/unloader for a company like FedEx or UPS, these gloves are unfortunately not for you.The silicon on the gloves where they got used the most, index and middle finger and the right hand, wore off the fastest. There were holes by the end of day 1, a 4 hour shift, and by the end of day 2, the most used fingers on the right hand were pretty much gone. They also started flaking off of the palm. Because the index finger was no longer covered I had to start using my left hand, which was awkward, or take them off because I could not get a good grip on a box with my right hand.I did over all like a couple things. The sweat wipe was nice, and so was the protective material on the ridge of the thumb and pointer finger. Now keep in mind that as an Unloader at FedEx, and during the peak season, they want us to unload at least 1,000 packages per hour, so if your handling boxes, but not near that number these may be a good fit for you. Just not for a loader/unloader. 3NOT meant for package handlers I bought this to help me at my job at UPS as a package handler and it did great, for a couple of hours. Then it started to fall apart, after one six hour shift you can see from the pictures included in this review to see how they held up.I would NOT recommend these gloves if you work at a place where you're expected to handle hundreds, if not thousands of packages, a day. 1because these are pretty great. I recently picked up a part-time job ... I have to go with a previous poster and say most negative reviews must be for an older product, because these are pretty great. I recently picked up a part-time job as an unloader at a pretty big shipping company. Depending on what's in the trailer, I move thousands of boxes an hour. I had a backlog of some mechanix-type gloves I used at first. Those are tore up in about a week. Packages would also slip from my hands sometimes. The hand surface area is really tacky/rubbery, so it provides an awesome grip. I've been using them for weeks, and so far no signs they are about to rip anywhere. The only downside I could possibly give is, since they have that rubbery surface, and if you're unloading, you're inevitably going to sweat a lot, they can get a little stinky after awhile. I never checked if possible to wash, but definitely recommend sitting them out overnight to air out, rather than leaving in a backpack or something.I do not think you'll find an unloader/loader glove in existence that will stand the test of time against the job for too long, but at least these have lasted past everything else I've used, so value for the money is totally worth it. 5Very satisfied with these gloves for Spartan Race Recently used these gloves at a Spartan Race without modification (i.e., I didn't cut off the fingertips). They performed well above my expectations in terms of enhancing my grip and protecting my hands through the whole race, and were more durable than expected. They were a legitimate game changer in my performance on monkey bars/hanging rope rig, atlas hoist, and made other hard-on-the hands obstacles much better (e.g., bucket carry). I didn't find them too warm/sweaty, although race weather was a mild 65-70. I also found that they dried out well (especially with some judicious scrape downs on dirt/bushes) enough that remaining muddy wasn't a problem. I think even if weather were rainy, these probably would have stayed on through the whole thing as well. What surprised me was that they didn't seem any worse for the wear (no lost rubber pieces) after the race, and after tossing in the washing machine (delicate cycle, air dry afterwards). They'll live to see at least one more Spartan Race which is better than expected. Thumbs up! 5Excellent hard-working gloves - great for package handling. I hesitated to buy these gloves after reading some of the recent reviews. However, I tried 4 other types of gloves, none of which were great, only two types good for package handling. The best ones fell apart after about 10 days of work. The other good pair (also Ironclad brand) is not made strictly for package handling, so the gripping was marginal. So, I decided to try these. I am extremely happy with them. After more than 3 weeks of hard work, they are still in great condition. I have not had a problem with the rubber pieces that other people had problems with falling off. The last two weeks I have worn them and handled 500-1000 packages a day.The gripping is great and I find that it helps my day go more smoothly. I have fewer problems dropping packages and these gloves make me more efficient at work. My supervisor is very happy with my pace, which these gloves help a lot with.I am thrilled that I tried them. I've been thinking about buying another pair to have in reserve but these haven't even started to show wear. So I will wait for a while to see how long these last. The only (very minor) negative is that they are of such high quality that they are slightly warm but I don't mind. It is worth it for such great gloves. 5Grippy but short lived I sort incoming packages for one of the largest, and most well known delivery companies. Under the strains of the 1100 package par hour expectation, I have come to need a stickier than skin grip, to execute the thousands of lifts and carries required over the ~3.5 hours a day, 5 days per week, to achieve the superior grip I need, I have to buy the grippiest gloves I can get my hands on, however, I have yet to find a pair that lasts more than a month, without visible wear, that affects the grip performance of my fingers (a critical component of the package handler grip). The rubber grip on the fingers of these gloves started wearing thin within 3 hours of handling around 1,000 boxes per hour, small package bags, and envelopes, Either the gloves I received were defective, or the product is poorly designed for the rigors of Industrial Package Handling, that the gloves claim to be suited for. 20 dollars is a lot of Money for a pair of Gloves that lasts a week in the sort aisle. 1THEY DONT LAST I'm a package handler for a major shipping company and was very excited about this purchase. When I very first started using them I immediately noticed how great I could grip the packages and I was quite impressed. However, my satisfaction did not last very long. After only SIX HOURS of regular use a tear had already formed near the cuff of one glove. After about THIRTY HOURS of use (one week), the coating on the palm and fingertips of gloves began to wear off and fade away. These suggest poor quality. I was hoping spending $20 on a pair of gloves that they would last me a lot longer but they didn't. I was also not a huge fan of the FIT. They seemed a little bulky and the fingertips felt uncomfortable on my hands. I also noticed after consistent use that even with the velcro tight around my wrist that the gloves would start to slip off my hand if I was lifting something heavy. OVERALL pretty dissatisfied for the price. 2Best box gloves I've found-Box Handlers I've been using this brand of gloves for the past 19 years since I worked in a major company warehouse packing boxes. These gloves fit perfect once you know your size. Tight is good as they do break in. They don't shift around on my hands the way the cheaper gloves do (you know, the 12 pairs for $12 kind) and they feel great. The tacky surface helps a lot when handling boxes.I know these gloves seem a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and these are high-quality. The only downside is that the tacky surface does wear down too quickly for my taste, especially on the fingertips. But I continue to buy them because my job requires the handling of boxes all day long and I consider them a good investment. I don't want my wrists hurting because I can't get a grip on all the boxes I'm dealing with. And I hate the extra effort it takes to pick up a box with my fingertips when I'm wearing gloves that slip off or shift around.I guess you have to buy a pair and figure out the daily and hourly cost of the gloves vs how much they help you. For my job working in a university mailroom and shipping/receiving, a pair can last me two to four months. Let's figure, JUST FOR ARGUMENT'S SAKE, that they only last four weeks. At $20 per pair (that's a higher price than Amazon is selling them for right now) and a five day work week, that would be a cost of $1 per day, and if you worked 7 hours out of that day, the cost per hour would be less than 15 cents per hour. Mind you, they should last you much longer than that, but if, on the very high end of cost, they were to cost you 15 cents per hour and you loved them, wouldn't that be worth it? Nothing lasts forever, and my hands are worth a lot more than 15 cents per hour. Just sayin... 4They fixed them until they were broken... These used to be great gloves. They were tough, durable, and very functional. Apparently, Ironclad got tired of this and decided to go cheap on materials and construction. The new gloves are loaded with gimmicky new features like "aeroprene" knuckles (that serve no purpose) and a chintzy new material on the backs. They apparently decided to cut costs by using gluesticks to secure the grip patches and construction paper for the finger tips, as mine have worn out after one day of warehouse use...aka "the job they were designed for." This is disappointing; they used to be a great product. I guess my quest for good work gloves continues... 1
