Too pricey, but OK cpu. Similar benchmark from i3-8100 This is locked cpu, you cannot overclock this cpu. For people who would like to use their pc for long term, this is great cpu with stable temperature and safe from throttling. If you would like to make this cou more stable, out market cooler is recommended, even tiny liquid cooler would work perfectly. Personally i feel like this goes great with rx580 and gtx 1060. I3-8100 has similar benchmark with lower price, you might wanna check it out if you are thinking about buying this thou. 5Great CPU for reasonable price Very happy with this CPU. Primarily used for iRacing PC. Everything loads much faster, much better framerates (same GPU, but upgraded Mobo, CPU, and RAM). Run quite cool - rarely hear the fan speed up. 5Avoid mistakes, get your motherboard ready (If it's an older one) Works exactly as advertised, word of warning though, so you won't make the same mistake as I did. This is a 7th gen processor, if you have and older motherboard like I do and try to upgrade make sure you have the right BIOS update, or you'll end up thinking you wrecked your board and freak out. It wasn't until I went back to basics and remounted my old CPU that I figured this out . After looking for the right software and setting everything up, THEN it started working . Otherwise, great product.(It also goes without saying to not buy a pre 7th gen motherboard. There's no guarantee it'll have the update)On a side note, if you're debating between this and an i7 and its just a matter of a slightly higher budget go for that one, especially since you can't overclock this. It may not make a difference immediately, but it will eventually. It's one of those things were you start to feel the regret a year or two down the line... 5A year later and... It's been a year since I built my rig and I bought this processor not knowing much about it and when I finally got it I thought it wasn't going to perform as good as I needed it but I was wrong, it performs well enough for me to be able to play any AAA game I throw at it with alongside with the 1070 it BUT is not until I get to streaming, gaming and having other programs open that the processor starts to ask for help, I have an evga 120 egva closed loop cpu cooler that keeps it from burning. It can get tricky with obs all you have to do is set the encoder to use less processing power but it'll come at a quality of picture cost or use your graphics card encoder instead to run the stream but that will also come with a frame rate cost.If you don't stream and only play then don't need to look further but if you want more power for a little extra then go with the i5 6600k 5Great for the price! The day I installed it I instantly noticed a boost in speed, gaming was far better, video editing is great. Easy installation. I switched from a Pentium G4560. 5Good Price and Good Performance No problems here. Performs fine. 5overheating I bought this processor a few days ago and it turns out that it went out of order, it gets too hot and the PC restarts. I changed the cooler and the motherboard to rule out that it was my problem but it does not do the same with everyone, be careful. 1Good processor for a mid-level gaming rig. I don't regret getting this over the i3 Anymore. It has the right kick and power I need for my entire game library as well as just a good little processor. would an i9 or Threadripper be great. OH YEAH! But for the price in the current market, this does the job. Plus it came with a cooler that isn't too bad. I opted for a different one instead. (White LED lights for the win there) 5... for my second PC build and I am very pleased. The CPU and CPU cooler come in the ... I bought this CPU for my second PC build and I am very pleased. The CPU and CPU cooler come in the nice little Intel box.The CPU itself has a triangle on it for you to match up with the CPU array on the motherboard for installation. The stock CPU cooler does seem flimsy at first but it makes much more sense and is sturdy once it rotates then snaps into holes of the motherboard. This fan is really loud if noise bothers you or you want close to silence I recommend getting an aftermarket fan. Again, for a quick build or factory build its hard to beat what's designed for and already has thermal paste. At idle the temperature is usually 29-32 degrees Celsius. This CPU easily handles CS GO in highest settings up to 240 fps, League of Legends in high settings, and Fortnite on high stays at 60 FPS paired with the 1050 Ti. 5Awesome processor! Will handle multiple monitors Awesome processor! Will handle multiple monitors, TV tuners, and multiple processes. Have used this on my power user computers and my son's gaming computer and all is good! No need to get an expensive I7 processor when this one with do gaming and serve as a business based computer. The I7 is really aimed at super users, with over 40 active processes, quickbooks, surveillance recording with multiple cameras, remote access software apps and over 25 active tabs on Chrome... Highly recommend the I5 for Gaming and intense business computer users 5
