Customer Reviews

A clock internet radio with accurate time and Alexa, and firmware that can be updated. An accurate self-setting clock and date via Wi-Fi with alarm, plus all the voice operated things Alexa can do like play radio stations including local ones for free via TuneIn, play local music from your phone via the iAVS16 app (title and artist scrolls on the radio). The lights are dimmable in many steps. If there's a delay before Alexa responds on the radio, go to the iAVS16 app and update the firmware to the latest version to get rid of that (be patient -- it takes a while). Yes, the radio firmware is updateable, that's good -- it means problems can be fixed and features could be added (like maybe showing the radio station or song playing perhaps?). The setup is very important for setting the time zone and zip code for the time and local weather to display. It's NOT only great for the bedroom, but also on your desk and/or in the kitchen -- anywhere!5Will only work in the United States!"Universal 100-240V AC adaptor. Switching power supply works just about anywhere in the world to power your unit...!" YEA; ok- that's fine, but what they DONT tell you is that you CAN NOT adjust the clock if youre traveling "just about anywhere in the world". It automatically sets to one of the five U.S. timezones (Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska or Hawaii). That's it! There's no option for any other timezones. So I'm overseas on a deployment and there's absolutely NO WAY to correctly set the time. I imagine it will be nice when I get back to the U.S. (in a year!). However, I'm really hoping they get their shyt together and patch a firmware update. It's outrageous!2This creepy clock is a no.There is literally no way to set the clock on the clock. Has to be set through app on phone. We are two college educated people and it took us like 4 hours to get this thing somewhat going. On Christmas morning, I was so frustrated with this thing, I was almost in tears. I had to look appreiciative because it was a gift. But I was really thinking..."what's wrong with you just waking me up?" When i try to talk to Alexa in the kitchen, this one gets my commands on the other side of the house. You know that kid in class that always raises hand and blurts out answers before you get to acknowledge the kid you were trying to talk to? This clock is that kid. It randomly tells me it can't understand me. And then there I am yelling at a clock telling it "BECAUSE I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU!!" And honestly, we all have alarm clocks on our phones now. So what is the point? The wake-up disco lighting is cute though. But we are not friends.2Great concept--but there's still work to be doneI was super-excited at the concept of this system because it offers the Alexa interaction while being a full-functioning alarm clock---including snooze. (Am I the only one who can't believe that Amazon has yet to release an Echo, Dot or spot with a snooze function?)Sadly, this unit is clunky and, in my opinion, still in the developing phase. Alexa's voice defaults back to the highest volume each and every day no matter where you set the volume. Additionally, if you set up a reoccurring weekly alarm to your favorite music, it renders the snooze button useless. The snooze button only works if you use the iHome default alarm sounds. This unit could be so cool--but there is still work to be done. I'm holding out hope that system upgrades will be done to better the unit I have--since it is not cheap.3Amazon mandates a flashing light that you can't turn off in the latest firmware updateI've had this alarm over a year and although it wasn't perfect, it did the job. I don't use Alexa on it for anything other than setting the alarm. I USED to be able to wake up to just iheart radio, however, now I am FORCED to wake up to iheart radio + a flashing light in my face. According to iHome, Amazon dictated this in the last firmware release. I hate this flashing light that I can't turn off. I cannot adequately express how wrong it is for Amazon to take away my choice of how I want to wake up. i will be getting a different alarm. In summary, only buy this if you want to wake up to a flashing light.1Aggravating bells and whistles make this clock radio/speaker too complicated to enjoyI gave this a gift to replace an old iHome 100 for iPhones that has a short in one of the docking stations now. My husband just started using it this week and he hates it. It woke him up both nights with announcements like "bluetooth connection lost" and something about the power going off and coming back on. Who wants a clock talking to them all night. He cut off the Alexa feature after the first night thinking it was Alexa but it did the same thing the second night so it is the clock. He couldn't figure out how to stop that.It makes the nightstand cluttered too having to have a USB cord to charge his iPhone. The old one has a docking station and he simply plugs his iPhone into it.It dropped the Bluetooth connection for some reason and had to tell about it.No radio either.(Do you really want those lights on the bottom? I hope they are not charging much for that feature.)1Radio stopped working randomly...waiting on firmware updateOne of the main reasons that I purchased this product is so that I could wake to iHeart radio. I live in a remote area and cannot receive radio stations so this was the perfect solution...for a while. It just stopped working and now I awake to some random preset tone that I don't even have the option of choosing. I can't choose ANY other sound, iHeart radio or any preset tone. I have contacted Amazon, and they say it's not their problem. I have contacted iHome, and they say I need a firmware update. I've been waiting for several months now without a solution. Everything else works great, but I'm pretty disappointed in paying that amount for a clock radio with NO radio now.2iHome Alexa enabled (??) clock not ready for primetime.I was SO, SO wanting this cool clock to work as advertised but, alas, it wasn't to be. It was very easy to set up and connect to both my WiFi and to Amazon Alexa and it worked great, At First. The sound quality is really good, the display very easy to read and it's easy to set the alarm. The problem is that the Alexa portion of the device doesn't work most of the time!! I found that if I would unplug the power and reset it, it responded to the wake word of Alexa - for awhile. Most of the time after speaking the Alexa wake word, it would just sit and blink multicolor lights at me and then time out. I have an Amazon Dot sitting on the same nightstand and it responds every time I speak its wake word so I know it's not a 'ME' problem!! I did call iHome customer service and the gal was very helpful and stated it's a known problem and that they're working on it. My device did have the latest and greatest firmware version but to no avail!! As I stated, I really wanted this device to perform as advertised and hope they iron out the bugs - in the meantime I've ordered a Vobot clock and hope it fulfills my daily waking needs and although I'll have to reach over and touch it to make Alexa wake up (Reach out and TOUCH - how 1970's!!) at least I can command my smart world again!! I think it's just not ready for prime time right now.1Can't Do Two Things In SuccessionI bought this to help control lighting via Alexa in our bedroom as well as play rain sounds while sleeping. Problem, the device is supposed to connect to a phone via Bluetooth but it has to be reset up every time it's used. If something is playing via Bluetooth and you try to use Alexa, the Bluetooth completely disconnects and has to be set up again. And finally, each time the Bluetooth is set up, a VERY LOUD VOICE announces that "she" is LOOKING FOR BLUETOOTH SIGNAL". Doesn't seem like a big deal except this happens at NIGHT, when we're in bed and turning out lights to go to sleep. There doesn't appear to be a way to turn this volume down as we have tried repeatedly.Having said all of that, the sound quality is good when it works.3Too many cons with this oneI went in ready to love this alarm clock. An alarm clock with Alexa? Sign me up! But, there are a few issues with the clock.First, it is so bright. You can t adjust the light on the top buttons. It really does bother me at night. I turned off the bottom light panel immediately. The light of the face of the clock is also very bright. You can change the settings but it goes from bright to too dark to read.Second, I keep adjusting the volume but it resets itself to just plain loud every morning. Why is it screaming at me? I just woke up! Calm down! The snooze button only works with the alarm clock and not with Alexa. I have an echo dot and I just say Alexa, snooze or, Alexa, wake me up in 5 minutes. I don t have to extend my arm to find the snooze button and o can stay under the comforter. The sound quality is very good for such a small device. I have relegated this alarm clock to the guest bedroom. It s a passive aggressive way of limited the amount of days my guests stay with me. Wink. 3
