Customer Reviews

BrokenThe unit stopped working after less than two years. To the best of my ability to decipher its LED status indication, it is continuously looking for satellites and can't find them. 1Super spyTotally works. Put it on a car and retraced every move made on from the street level using google earth and the online program they recommend. Battery life last about 24 hours depending on movement. 5Great Hardware - horrible softwareUsed this on a two week trip to Europe, and it tracked flawlessly. It is not Mac compatible, so you need a windows PC or run virtual windows on you mac to use the software. That said, the software is horrible, not at all intuitive, synching photos for example is tedious but can be done. Had to make a cheatsheet to understand the blinking light indicators.UPDATE:I have now used this device for four years of road trips and it still does a great job of tracking, perhaps too good of a job as the number of data points for a two week trip are overwhelming. The most important thing is to sync all you cameras with the same time, if you plan on geotaging and using more than one camera.PRO:Long battery lifeAccurate trackingStored a 10 day 3000 km trip without problemInexpensiveCON:Not Mac compatibleHorrible softwareUnintuitive blinking lightsProprietary USB charging cable 4Good for runners and orienteering runners.Nice gps data logger. Easy to use. More bigger than igotu gt-120. There's a possibility to export data in gpx files so, you can see your races at endomondo, sports-tracker or others good softwares for runners. For an orienteering competitor, this gps data logger is good enough. I really would recomend it for others. 4Worked pretty well, software had some issues. The GT-600 worked pretty well, although the GPS's software didn't handle the staggered daylight savings change well (US and Europe change on different days). Fortunately, Geotag (free software on sourceforge.net) was able to read the GPX files and tag things correctly. The GPS unit didn't track the flight from SFO to Zurich (I was stuck in the middle of cattle section), nor did it work particularly well in the ships when below several decks. But it was otherwise quite good, and on the way home, if I held it near the plane window a few times, it acquired a lock pretty quickly. The unit charges via USB, and the only minor annoyance was that it takes a special cable, rather than a standard mini or micro one. 4so far so good. I don't use it for geotaggingA month of use, so far so good. I don't use it for geotagging, but vehicle tracking. With waypoints set to 20 second capture intervals, you can leave it tracking for a couple weeks. Simple device, great for the money. Sometimes the software to download the data can be glitchy, but there are no fees for monthly service. If I lost this one, I'd buy the same one to replace it. 4Works great!Works great! not having a problem. Thanks a lot! 5Lousy software... hardware so-soThe software used to download the GPS data logger is very badly designed. The allowable user actions are not intuitive, icons and used for the sake of icons-being-used without forethought about whether it makes sense to just list the allowable actions in text (as opposed to ICONS!). Being a developer in the past myself, it became immediately clear to me that the interface was written with very little consideration for actual user needs, and I doubt much proper usability testing went into it. E.g. what kind of a software opens up a pop-up modal dialog box (i.e. one that requires you to close that dialog before proceeding). This dialog-box was was for "editing detailed waypoint information", and it did not have a horizontal scrollbar to view details of the displayed track table, and worse, the "Exit" button for that modal dialog-box kept appearing and re-appearing (may not be tested for Windows 7 Prof, 64 bit), thus forcing me to do a force-quit of the application? Why can't I turn off the tracks selectively for review, and instead I have to see all the tracks at once and guess which track corresponds to the one displayed on screen? And, yes, I have the latest version of the software. Ridiculous. I give the software a very big, unqualified, thumbs down. Shows little or no thought went into usability design and testing.Hardware wise: it's OK, except that it takes a longer time to get a GPS lock then my Motorola Razr cellphone. The design of the on-off button makes it vulnerable to the device being turned on (or off) by accident if something presses against it, like the inner liner of your bag where one would store it in-transit while it is not being used! Again, this suggests that user-scenarios, use-cases, and usability testing was not performed properly. I wonder how many users have had the unit unknowingly turned on while boarding a plane only to have it on during a flight when such devices are supposed to be turned off...I would not recommend this unit. If you buy this, then use the bundled @Trip s/w for geotagging photos, but d/l the data and export the data to a GPX format file for use in another GPS editing software, like the free RideLeader s/w package, that will allow you to edit and verify the GPS tracks. You will want to edit the tracks to name and edit (join, split) tracks so that they are meaningful years later, or if you are sharing those tracks with friends and family. E.g. there will be errors in the GPS data (for example, due to bad availability of GPS signals that throws off the position by tens of meters) that you may want to get rid of. RideLeader has its own flaws, but allows you to pretty much easily import the GPX file, edit the tracks, and re-export the data to a standard GPX format file. 2A very useful product to track where my trucks have gone toA very useful product to track where my trucks have gone to. When the product reach my country, Malaysia, The customs required me to get a SIRIM permit. Need to pay extra for the permit. 4Very good... .I must admit I was a little hesitant in buying this given some of the reviews, and have been very pleased with it so far. I wanted something small, leave running, power-frugal, etc; it is relatively small (45x45x15mm), can hold a significant number of track points, is easy to operate - and easy to download the data. It is accurate - easily tells you which side of the road you're on, and is quick to obtain a fix (a few seconds). The only issues are that the data cable has perhaps a little flimsy connector - just ensure it is fitted the correct way up and insert/extracted by tilting it (rather than pulling it straight out), and that the power-on/off button can be too easily depressed - either switching it off (or on) inadvertently.Update: April 2019. Having had this for 2 years now it has worked well. The big issue remains the downloading of the data - which is generally okay, although might take a couple of attempts to connect. The real issue is trying to delete the data on the GPS - more often than not it will fail to delete the data. I have yet to find a rational, reliable method to delete the data - usually only mange it after many, many tries (hence the drop from 5 to 4 stars!). 4
