The speaker in the ID-51A Plus has a bit more depth and loudness to it than this. The spiral cable seems longer than the speaker/mic I had for my Yaesu FT1D, this is something I REEEEALLLY like. I also like how the connector has a rubber seal around it. It fits in perfectly. The mic also has a headphone jack on the bottom of it that;s the NORMAL size and not the stupid micro size. I'm new to Icom but at least with the ID-51 and the accessories for it, it seems like people actually USED this gear and figured out things that made sense, and are user friendly.
