Customer Reviews

Great glassbreakGreat glassbreak but make sure you short the contacts on the board to place it into test. People think it doesn't work but it does indeed and keep in mind it has a time out feature to prolong battery life.5Works with CPIThis was tested and works with my CPI alarm system.5Beware: ADT will not allow you to install this sensorBeware: Great component, but ADT will not allow you to install this sensor. Despite this sensor matching exactly the other glass sensors on our ADT Security System, I was not allowed to add this sensor. ADT says they need to install their glass break sensor at 3x the price and with a $150 install fee, so $300 for what I could do for under $50! Looks to be an easy add to the system but ADT changes the installer codes when they activate the system, so you can t DIY. Had to return the sensor...and will start looking for a new Security System provider...4Works great with 2gig / Vivint Panel!Bought 3 of these. One to replace a defective glass break from a competitor and another two for protecting bedrooms that lacked coverage. These work great with my 2gig/Vivint panel and were a breeze to configure once I had Vivint unlock the system configuration.5Great, with a few things to keep in mind.Extremely sensitive out of the box. It takes a bit of trial and error to dial in the sensitivity settings just right for your environment so that you don't have false alarms. I found that it's more than just setting the distance from the glass - you have to take the room acoustics into account as well. The cover (at least on my sensor) is very difficult to open so make sure you install it so that you have room at the top of the unit to insert a small screw driver to open the the cover when needed.4Works with VivintThis glass break sensor has to be manually paired but works with Vivint. My daughter inadvertently tested it by knocking over her empty glass, the sensor detected a glass break event and the alarm went off.5Five Stars A very good product for a very reasonable price. It works perfectly and installation was a breeze. 5They do their job and don't look uglyI know these work because every now and then I accidentally drop something or band something and it causes the alarm to go off. I wouldn't say they are more sensitive than they should be (that would get annoying), but I am confident that these things which normally go unnoticed do their job as they should. Also, they blend in to my light gray walls well enough, so they are not an eyesore.5Good price for wireless and no running wire they the atticUsed this with Vista 20P alarm and found they are very sensitive which is a good thing because the instruction seem to say that they might not work with heavy window covering .5Really worksWe added this glass break product to the house and learned that it truly works. Our cats knocked over the plastic food container and set off the detection device. What a ruckus! Will definitely wake you from a sound sleep!5Exactly what I wanted.Bought this to perform a DIY overhaul of my 20 year old hardwired alarm system and to add these wireless units. Today, burglars are no longer prying the doors and windows open. They are just smashing the glass in patio doors which requires motion detectors and glass break sensors to get full protection.5Another security addition to our 2gig Go Control alarm system I own a 2gig Go Control panel (monitored by central security group via alarm dot com). The setup is not trivial but there is a lot of documentation and you tube videos to guide you through all the integration into your system. My main doubt was if this would work easily with my system and it did. If you are not tech savvy I would probably not recommend adding this on your own to your system, but if you are then you will find the documentation to be enough to guide you through adding this to your system. The physical installation is also pretty simple if you have any DIY inclinations. I will return back once it gets more use, but for now the integration was painless (assuming you read up on how and/or watch some you tube videos to get it done). I would definitely recommend this addition to any 2gig Go Control alarm system.Update: 02/20/16Side note: I am able to trigger this sensor if I bang my back door (has en embedded 2 foot by 4 foot glass window) just right, interesting that I can do that but kind of makes sense with such a big piece of glass.example programming for a honeywell 5853 wireless glass break detector on a 2Gig Go Control PanelGo into configuration menu :SECURITY, MENU, TOOLBOX, RIGHT ARROW, INSTALLER TOOLBOX enter: 1561select: System Configuration(heres where the programming starts) : -> (right arrow) until you find an unused zone : down arrow to select "this" slot (zone)select: Sensor (zone) Type : [03] PERIMETER (WINDOWS/GLASSBREAK)select: Equipment Code : 0519 - HONEYWELL GLASS BREAK 5853 enter : Serial Number : check sticker on back side or inside battery compartment (7 characters long)select: Equipment Age (0=New/1=Existing) : 1 (existing)select: Sensor Loop Number : Loop 1-Motions, Glassbreaks, Smoke, Recessed D/W,Panic Pendant, D/W with wire leadselect: Dialer Delay (1=Enabled/0=Disabled) : 0(disabled)select: Voice Descriptor (see cheat sheet link p.2) Insert to add a word, then type the 3 digit code Repeat for additional words and to move between words : (104) (125) (191) : glassbreak kitchen sensorselect: Sensor Reports (1=Enabled/0=Disabled) : 1 (enabled)select: Sensor Supervised (1=Enabled/0=Disabled) : 1 (enabled)select: Sensor Chime (0=Disabled, 1=Voice Only, 2=Voice with Ding-Dong,3=Loud Ding-Dong,4=Loud Ding-Dong with Voice,5=Ding-Dong) : 2 (Voice with Ding Dong)press : to program another sensor click Next : orpress : to end programming click skip then endpress : (exit make sure the box IS checked in the save changes box) : system will reboot and take a few seconds to come back upmake sure to look on you tube if you need more guidance or search for this device on alarm grid dot com 5A great addition to any Honeywell system. We've had several recent break-ins in the area, and the thieves were smashing the sliding glass doors of our neighbors' homes. Unfortunately, bar locks do nothing when someone can just break glass. Several of these detectors will go a long way in adding another safety measure to your home to ensure would-be burglars will get thwarted by your security system (and hopefully caught).Setup/installation was relatively straightforward. The FG-701 micro-flex tester is basically a mandatory purchase to accompany these detectors. You need to troubleshoot the sensor's sensitivity to distances, echoes, and window coverings in your home to ensure that your alarm system will correctly activate in the event of a break in. Although the flex tester is pricey, it's worth the peace of mind that an intruder won't be able to bypass your system through an Achilles heel. 5
