lowered total dissolved solids (TDS) from about 120 to 11 - great space saver, too! HIGHLY recommended! I've had this for a couple weeks and you can certainly tell the difference in the taste. It's perfect for a counter top with limited space (like mine) and it doesn't require electricity to run. All the parts were as expected and SUPER product. I'd highly recommend this to anyone (and have!) and will pass the word along to friends and family looking for a great priced filter and the fact it filters fluoride, too is a MAJOR bonus.UPDATE: I've now had this filter for a couple months and my god...you can certainly taste and smell the difference. Even my animals are drinking more water, now. I had my boyfriend test this with his TDS (total dissolved solids)meter and it went from the tap water 120 TDS to 11 TDS, which is pretty drastic. HIGHLY recommended and very affordable for the average person interested in clearing almost all the chemicals and toxins out of your water. 5Excellent filter- removes most arsenic and others I didn't want. Easy to install Extremely easy to install and works flawlessly. I compared other purifiers- Apex, New Wave Enviro, and a few others. Our water has organic arsenic a level that exceeds Federal EPA levels along with recent discoveries of GenX. Using Reverse Osmosis results in total removal which leads to aggressive water that potentially leaches minerals from your body (being a solvent by nature) in addition to not having any to start with. Also, the rejection/efficiency of the RO Filter makes it a wasteful choice sometimes given the amount of water that runs down the drain.I'm not a paranoid sensationalist but I do think some/several health-related issues stem from our water. This filter removes >93% of the scariest suspects while leaving the good minerals which works for me. I add minerals on occasion to augment. Far better than the 2- 5-gallon bottles/week I've been lugging from Whole Foods.Have been happy for the last two weeks, will update in 6 months. 5The absolute best counter top water filter This is by far the best water filter I have every bought. It arrived ready to attach to the faucet. I just unscrewed the aerator and screwed on the aerator attachment of the filter. Some of the best things I love about this filter are. You have the full water pressure while it is attached. The water flows as if the filter wasn't even connected. Once you turn the water on. Just pull the knob and water will begin to flow out of the nozzle. It comes out at a pretty decent rate. Obviously depends on how much you open the sink valve. I can fill a 32 oz mug in just a few seconds. When you turn the water off. The knob that diverts the water to filter automatically retracts. Then the water returns to flowing out of the faucet. It is pretty neat. No more having to turn a knob when you are done dispensing water. The water filter nozzle with swivel and moves very easily. The water quality is best I have had. It is better than bottled water. I would not have problems buying any of the Home Master filters. 5Scam?!? Test results show zero improvement in quality of water! "Sink" is this water filtration device. Shower is a water filtration shower head I recently purchased. I bought this counter top unit in 2016! During this recent testing, tested a brand new filter. Exchanged in case it was defective. Exact same results. So disappointed! 1Excellent Customer Service Update: I received the new filter in two days and the water tastes amazing. I live at the beach and if you have ever visited a coastal area you know their water is disgusting. This filter makes it taste just like spring water. There is zero chemical taste/smell.To me customer service is just as important as product performance. I got my filter, did the 20 min flush, and was surprised at how clean my water tasted afterwards. There was a huge difference. However as the water sat on my counter the taste got horrible after approx 30 min. I contacted Home Master customer support. They immediately called me to troubleshoot what was going on. From my address they realized that I was on the coast and a certain type of chemical or treatment is used here to clean the water. Matt, the customer service rep, explained that I needed the elite filter and would send it out free of charge same day. I was shocked! I hope to update the review next week after the new filter gets here and we give it a thorough test. They get 5 stars though for making me feel like a valued customer. 5GREAT tasting water & easy to install A breeze to install, easy to use, and the water tastes AMAZING. We just moved to Atlanta and we noticed the tap water has sediment. This filter removes the sediment 100% and we have peace of mind that we're not drinking a bunch of chemicals. We use the filtered water to make ice, too. I'd recommend this product to anybody and it's the perfect apartment solution. 5Easy install. Great water. Been using this for 2 weeks now an absolutely love it. My water didnt smell or taste good, but now its very crisp and tastes like bottled water. I bought a water jug for my fridge and it fills it up very quickly which I like a lot better than when I had to wait on the brita filters. Love this thing. 5On first appearances, a first-rate product See other reviews under my ID for the terrible problems I've had with several other countertop filters still being sold by Amazon, including some fairly expensive ones. I've only considered those taking the nice standard 10x2.5" cylindrical cartridges, for a wide choice of filtering effectiveness & price.First impressions--I've only been using it for a week: A first-rate product. Both the housing and diverter valve are properly designed. The housing and base are both have tight-fitting plastic threads, holding an O-ring in a shaped recess, so that joint doesn't leak like most cheaper filters tend to. The valve is all-metal (cheaper ones are partly plastic, wear out & start leaking quickly), fits my faucet threads perfectly w/o leaking, & has the more convenient design of a pull-out tab held out by the pressure of the running water. So as soon as you turn the water off, the spring automatically returns it to the unfiltered position, & we absent-minded people don't waste filtering capacity when we don't need it. The design is very close to my late lamented Ametek (ruined by sediment in the valve), which worked with no problems for a dozen + years. Per the box, made in Phoenix AZ, which is apparently a big improvement over the usual China. My only quibbles are 1) the price--$100 is a lot for a plastic housing, a filter cartridge, valve & a little tubing (that Ametek was about $30 in the late '80s), & 2) the Amazon listing gives a fairly complete description of the filter cartridge, but with no numbers beyond particle size, so it's almost meaningless. It sounds like a good filter, but for a replacement, I'll be buying a good affordable KX Matrikx instead unless they can give me complete specs.The one other filter I considered before buying this one was the QMP603, but at the time it didn't have a single review, & still has only one terse one. I like the idea of a 2-stage filter, with a 5-micron sediment filter 1st to make the 2nd expensive finer filter last a lot longer, but Amazon apparently doesn't sell a proven reliable one.If I run into any problems later, I'll update this review. 5The scariest thing is how bad the water tastes I used this system for a month and it seemed to work well, and the water tasted good. The part that attaches to the faucet started leaking after 4 weeks, at first it was just a little but after a few days I couldn t turn the faucet on without water spraying everywhere.I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement unit, thankfully. When I opened the replacement the hose was snapped in two.So called Amazon again and they sent me another replacement. This one is working fine but the water tastes TERRIBLE, it honestly tastes worse than my tap water. So I have been drinking from the tap. I figure there is something wrong with the filter.I ve tried to open up the 2nd unit Amazon sent me (with broken hose) to see if I could move this filter into the latest unit to see if this would help the water taste better, but it s impossible to open the unit even with a wrench.So after 3 faulty units, this is definitely 2 thumbs down. The scariest thing is how BAD the water tastes after running through the 3rd unit. Don t trust this product or company- definitely dealing in subpar merchandise. Avoid purchasing! 1Worth the money This is my second time with this water filtration system. A friend purchased one for his apartment a while back and told me all about it. Its really easy to use and it hooks right up to the faucet. So when I moved into my own place and needed a filtration system, I knew that I had to get one. They are a little pricey but seeing as I drink at least 8 cups of water a day I knew it was worth the investment to purchase a system that could remove the toxic metals in the water.These systems are very long lasting and I personally can see/taste a difference in my water. 5
