Customer Reviews

I am loving it. I have a huge Electric bill every month being a NY'ker. 40% of it is Heating water. I do have a water heater that is on Fuel but i installed this Home depot Electric Unit since we are in the habit of taking a bath every day.First Impression: I was skeptical at first by looking at the size of this thing but i was proven wrong. This thing works on the principal of pressure washing.I will update the review once i see a change in my Electric bill. Also, i have a on going bet with my brother to see if it is 1.5 GPM exactly but it is just the thought of wasting water that holds us back. Come summer time or if it is warm enough to wash our car (using two bucket method) i will check the total flow per minute and update. 5The Reviews Are Right! I was desperate to reduce my water bill after getting the first full month bill of over $400 on our vacation rental property. After reading the reviews on the High Sierra 1.5 GPM version, I figured I'd take a gamble. When my wife first looked at the showerhead, she said that thing is not going in our showers (too small and bland). I decided to take a risk and install it (which took no more than 5 minutes to remove the old one and install this model) to see what the spray coverage was like. I immediately thought they must have sent me a regular 2.5 GPM version as the spray coverage was so superior to our old 2.5 version I couldn't believe it was just 1.5GPM. My wife, after taking a shower, asked me how much money would we save if we used these showerheads (a very good sign). After explaining that the shower water usage would be reduced by 40% (plus the reduced electricity cost for heating less water) she decided she liked them. I have installed them in all four showers and I'm looking forward to seeing the reduction in my water billing! 5Side by side comparison of HighSierra 1.5 GPM, Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM and "hardware store" 2.5 GPM shower head Within the span of a few of days, I had the privilege of using the HighSierra 1.5 GPM Shower Head, a "standard hardware store" 2.5 GPM shower head and the Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM also sold on amazon all on the same double shower fixture. If you don't feel like reading the rest of my review, the HighSierra 1.5 GPM Shower Head is definitely the best of the three even if you don't take in to consideration that it's only 1.5 GPM.We have a double fixture in our shower and we had been using the regular hardware store 2.5 GPM aerating shower heads on it. Yes, yes I know 5 GPM total... not very efficient.. but at least some of us only use one of the two heads. We had been very happy with the two 2.5 GPM heads on it but a few weeks ago I decided it was time to start saving some more water... I was going to replace one of the two heads and if it worked well I'd replace the second one. So... I purchased the Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM on amazon to try it out. The performance was disappointing. Not only was the pressure of the water coming out of the nozzle low, the lather switch, to shut of the water directly from the shower head allowed a huge amount of water to leak out. The two hardware store 2.5 GPM heads completely shut the water off right from the head which is a major advantage when using the double fixture.Anyway after a few showers we decided we had to do something else so I gave the HighSierra a shot even though it was twice as expensive. Wow! What a difference. The pressure is great... It certainly feels more than the 2.5 GPM head. I know so because since it's a dual fixture with the HighSiera on one side and the 2.5 GPM on the other I can stand there and turn one on and one off in succession. It's not even worth comparing it to the Ultra Saver. Here is an additional benefit of the HighSierra that I only realized when I was doing this experiment. The head doesn't seem to aerate the stream as much so I actually have to turn the temperature down while using it. That's right. Because the stream isn't as aerated, the hot water seems hotter when it hits you so you can actually reduce your hot water usage with this head. The difference is fairly dramatic. Not only does it use 1.5 GPM but you require proportionally less hot water to keep the same temperature in the shower. So now not only are we saving water, we are using less energy to heat it.Another experiment I tried was turning the volume of the water up and down. The HighSierra maintains a constant pressure for a wider range of volumes than the 2.5 GPM head. This means that if you have low water pressure in your house, you stand a good chance a getting a decent shower with the HighSierra. The only negative I found about this head is that the lather switch doesn't work as well as the 2.5 GPM head. It lets a trickle of water through. Not enough to make it useless but it is annoying.Needless to say I'm buying my second HighSierra head today.I highly recommend it. 5Made me put my beloved 1950's shower head in the basement... Best low flow shower head ever. We have just replaced a 1950's shower head in our home. We were very reluctant to because it had always given a great shower, although short due to the water heater not being able to keep up with the water demand. We recently decided to replace it, with me kicking and screaming of course. I already have a low flow in our other bath. I hate it. Takes years to get soap out of my hair. Doesn't seem like a water saving feature when it takes 20 minutes just to rinse out your hair. If I was going to replace a great 1950's shower head, I wasn't going to be left with yet another wimpy shower. So, if I was going to have to replace my precious shower head, I was going to do some homework. After I searched around on the web, I came across a few High Sierra reviews and a video of the shower head actually working. I was sceptical, but what does it hurt to try it out? I could always put the old one back on. After we had received this in the mail, I opened the package and laughed because it was such a tiny water head. I was still sceptical. Anyways, long story short, I hooked it up using the simple instructions. Turned on the water and was immediately shocked. I'm in love. 10/10 would buy again. In fact, we will in the very near future to get rid of the wimpy, already low flow in the spare bath. I put the 1950's shower head in the basement just in case there is an issue, but I doubt there will be. Thank you so much for your great product!!!!! 5This shower head will amaze you, it is so good I knew the shower head was going to be good based on everything I had read, but in fact it is truly amazing. I replaced a 2.5 GPM regular shower head with the High Sierra 1.5 GPM shower head and it felt like I had doubled the water flow. In addition the way the water comes down makes for an incredibly good shower. Can't recommended these highly enough, these shower heads truly revolutionize showering! 5Water saver for a water waster I have typically lived in houses that were fed with a well and as such I paid no mind to water usage. I would always dig out the water savers in whatever shower head that I was using to get maximum flow. Now it wasn't like I liked wasting water, I just liked a good shower and your bog standard 2.5 gpm shower heads do not make for a good shower. However, I now live in a house were I have to pay a monthly water bill and as such I want to keep the bill reasonable. I tried the 1.5 and the 1.8 gpm high sierra shower heads and while I liked both of them the 1.8 has that little bit of extra oomph that really makes for a nice shower. Overall I'm pleased enough with these that I no longer miss the old water waster heads. 5Exactly what I've been hoping to find again for 20 years I once, long ago had a very small, very high pressure water-saving shower head that I really loved. Cost a whole $10 from the local hardware store, and was labeled as coming from Europe. Ever since, I've been hoping to find another like it, without success, until I ordered this showhead. No, it's not the same company, and works a bit differently, but it has the same essential small size, high pressure and good distribution of water, while using less water than most other showheads labeled as water-saving.My wife wishes I'd paid the extra to get the version with the shutoff valve, but I take really short showers, so having that feature doesn't matter for me. I would, however, add it if buying again.Note: There is also an older 1.5GPM version of this at the same price, but I figure this newer version uses a bit more water because it needs to for happy customers, and chose accordingly, with no regrets.Highly recommended! 5blown away with water pressure...still :-) I don't generally write reviews of products but this shower head is outstanding! I agonized over buying this shower head to be honest. We had a nice handheld one but it was 2.5GPM, and water is really expensive where we live. So I broke down and bought this water saver. What I was worried about was that the water would come out way to slow and the soap would never get out of our hair.....my daughter and I both have crazy thick and curly hair. Well we received this little beauty and turned it on and while the water does come out different it came out with plenty of force to wash our hair fine. I can't believe actually that it comes out one entire gallon less then my old one because it sure doesn't seem like it. The next thing I want to point out is that the way that the shower head is on a swivel ball mean you can really really move it around which makes it really slick to clean your shower. I was playing with it and wasting water just the other day and I can almost spray over the top of the curtain towards the back of my shower enclosure. So if you are contemplating and water is horridly high like mine is give it a shot. I am sure glad that I did. <3 5Superior shower experience. This thing is amazing! It works so much better than our expensive-but-worthless "Whirl Air / Rain Air" 2.5 gpm Hansgrohe shower bar, despite using only 1.5 gpm max. The pressure this thing provides is awesome (probably 3-4x what we get out of the Hansgrohe). But, even better, the droplets don't come out in a fixed array of lines -- it's turbulent and the droplets are constantly hitting everything in the cone of water. That means that you don't have to move around to rinse soap off -- you can just stand still and it's constantly hitting every square millimeter of your skin. It's also sturdy, well-made, and beautiful. I'm beyond impressed. The only drawback I can see is that it's a bit louder than our shower bar, but it's so spectacular in every other way that I could care less. 5Very nice and "heavy" flow Very nice and "heavy" flow... invigorating and drenching! Only thing I don't care for is that the 1.8 GPM version seems to be a lot louder than the 1.5 GPM version which I also have in another shower. I have recommended to friends that they go with the 1.5 GPM version as that also provides a very satisfying shower. I've tried several competitive products from Delta and Whedon. These are definitely heavier spray and the spray pattern is nicely filled out in the center of the pattern as well. On some low-flow shower heads, you almost feel like the spray is only around the periphery and that you could almost stay dry if you stood in the middle of the spray pattern. Not the High Sierra. Bring your snorkel! Really excellent product and worth the extra investment. 4
