Customer Reviews

HIGH QUALITY, Handsome Grip Finally! A hand grip for pro and semi-pro cameras that is as good looking as it is functional. This does require some patience to mount the first time and as others have said, a few diagrams would have been great. But there is NOTHING cheap or plastic on this strap. All hardware is metal and the leather is high quality. It mounts securely without being obtrusive. There are other grips with more cushion, but they are not secure. This has adequate cushion while providing 100% security for your gear. PLUS it's a great looking addition, even to bodies that cost several thousand $. Finally, a keeper. 5Great comfort, top quality. After using the strap on my D800 for several weeks, I can say that I am extremely pleased with this product. Absolutely top notch quality and great ergonomics. The size is perfect for my average size hand and the camera feels very secure. Comments about the size being too small are in my opinion totally unfounded. I can't get over the feel of how my hand slides in so smoothly and the comfort level that you seem to get only from leather. . The strap is long enough to accommodate a battery pack on the camera but I don't have one so I simple folded over the end an inch or so and clipped it in place with the leather clip provided. Recommend you watch one of several You Tube videos to make installation simple...the instructions included in the box are useless. This is by far the best hand strap I've owned. Highly recommend this product. 5I have loved using it on my Canon 5d mark iii I bought this handstrap for my Canon 5d Mark Iv. I have loved using it on my Canon 5d mark iii. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the strap to fit through the metal loop on the Mark IV. The strap was too thick. I even tried to use tweezers to pull it through and just ended up making silver scratches on the black paint on my new camera. I ended up taking my old herringbone strap off my mark iii and using it on the mark iv. The strap is thicker than it was a couple years ago when I bought it. Normally I would think that was probably a positive thing and an upgrade in quality. But if I can't get it through the metal loop to install it, what's the point? 3The black leather with red stiching looks classy like the red line on canon lenses! This one IS leather, awesome wrist strap, makes your camera look sexy, easy to install and gives a feeling of security along with better control of the camera.UPDATE: Using this with a BG-E13 battery grip and it is still working great. I enjoy this grip strap better now than when I first gave it a 5 star rating, this is made of fine leather and like any pair of great western boots or brand new baseball mitt this will take a little time to "break in". I received this on March 10, 2016 and I have had the camera that I put it on out about 4 days each week since then. Every time I grab the camera it feels better. In the short,1.) don't over tighten the strap to your hand when you initially install.2.) plan on tightening the strap after about 2 solid days of shooting.3.) happy shooting, by day 10 you will surely trust the added control this strap gives you.(I'm clumsy so I still use a BlackRapid RS-Sport Extreme Sport Strap and I highly recommend this product too ) - https://www.amazon.com/BlackRapid-RRS-1BB-Sport-RS-Sport-Black/dp/B005HWC6PI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458685365&sr=8-1&keywords=BlackRapid++RS-Sport+Extreme+Sport+Strap 5Great Strap for Olympus MFT Camera I bought this to use with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. It looks outstanding on the camera. While I will admit it can be tricky to install, there are videos to guide that process. It is made of good quality leather and had provided the support I wanted. Many straps just go over your wrist and while they do provide support in the event your drop your camera, they do little to support it while shooting. This does that as it braces the camera on the back of your hand. The only thing I will caution is when it is attached to my camera (actually to a RRS L Bracket on the base of the camera) it adds a bit of friction when opening the door to remove the battery. I actually consider this a good thing as it is an additional support against the battery falling out should you accidentally open the door. 5I like this strap so far. It is good looking, simple, inconspicuous, really well made, and very comfortable. Use case: hand grip for Fujifilm X-Pro1 or Fujifilm x100t. Bought speNeither are DSLRs.Summary: two years ago I switched from a neck strap to a hand grip due to a need to keep my DSLR inconspicuous while doing street photography. I recently purchased a Fujifilm X-Pro1 with MHG-XPRO body grip, and GB-001 belt grip (hand grip) for the reasons above. I like the GB-001-- it's secure and well made, but it is slightly difficult to wear and take off. While it is inconspicuous (the hand grip itself), it does look more professional than casual...which sometimes gets me looks. I purchased this to see if it'd fit on my soon to arrive x100t with body grip. As it arrived beforehand, I am testing on my X-Pro1.Comparison to the GB-001:1. The X-Pro1 has top mounted dials. Particularly the shutter speed dial has a lock release button to go from "A" to a discreet shutter speed. In order to reach it with my grip hand; there needs to be ~1 space between the "V" created by my thumb and forefinger, and the top of the camera strap lug on the grip side of the camera. This space is created if I am to hold my hand such that my fingers are pointing away from me, and the blade of my hand is toward the floor. The camera rests against the palm of my hand adjacent to my pinkie. My hand is open and not actively gripping the camera. Only the strap, friction, and the weight of the camera keep the camera in place. This is the case with both hand grips. This being the case, the GB-001 is more secure (it is a 3-point hand grip). The Herringbone-- being leather-- can slide of my hand if I am holding the camera at my side with my hand open (the strap resting on the back of my hand). So if I am holding my camera at my side, I want to be actively holding the camera body. This isn't a big deal to me so far.2. The GB-001 has more adjustment options, but I think this is a moot point. As stated the GB-001 is more secure because is a 3-point hand grip. However, I adjust it the same way I do the Herringbone (to reach the shutter speed dial). The outcome is the same...just +/- a strap point.3. The Herringbone is way easier to put-on/take-off. Less time focusing on the strap; More time for the decisive moment.4. The Herringbone fits more easily in my camera bag-- or rather-- when I go to grab my camera, I am not contending with 3 indistinct nylon straps (which hole does my hand go through?). Again: less time focusing on the strap; More time for the decisive moment.5. The Herringbone is more stylish and casual. Not tested, but I think that pleasing aesthetics make a thing more inviting. Combined with casual, my camera should disappear from onlooker radar.All-in-all, I like this strap so far. It is good looking, simple, inconspicuous, really well made, and very comfortable. Not used in streets as of yet. I will report back and increment/decrement stars based on my experience. 4GREAT CAMERA STRAPS!!! I just got these today. I bought 4 of them for my professional cameras. I have a Canon 1DX MKII, Canon 5D MKIV, Canon 5D MKIII and a Canon 7D MKII. Installation can be somewhat tricky but, there is a good "how to" video on YouTube that walks though through the entire process quickly. I bought these with the plates and I am using them despite the fact that all my cameras have battery packs. Using the plates made the installation easier on the bottom end. The part that was a little more difficult, for all the cameras, was the top part and trying to get the leather strap through the hoop. This was accomplished using a pen cap to push the strap through and push it up on all cameras except the Canon 7D MKII. Regarding some difficulties that some folks had with the 5D MKIV and the smaller than expected hook, the same could be said about the Canon 1DX MKII, these two took a little bit of effort to get the strap through but, nothing that the pen cap couldn't handle. I used the cap because it is plastic and would not scratch the cameras. A little bit of patience goes a long way in getting them through. This is a very high quality product and makes your cameras elegant looking. I bought the black with the red stitches since my cameras are black and the Canon L lenses are black and have a red ring. The optics are fantastic and the cameras look awesome! These are comfortable and you can adjust the straps to suit your needs and reach some of the camera controls. In summary, it is a nice addition to your camera bag. Loved them!!! 54/5 because i dont like how the camera cannot sit flat on the table ... Works well on my 6D, even with battery grip. Screw in the bottom is threaded to allow tripod mount attachment.I have the manfrotto light pistol grip, so far the only manfrotto head that i have tried that fits the base plate reliably.4/5 because i dont like how the camera cannot sit flat on the table now; i'm afraid it will roll or tip over. 4Looks great, works acceptably, crazy confusing to install the first time. This is alright - it is a good price, and looks pretty good. However it isn't the easiest to adjust, and I find it tends to slip over time. Not to the point of dropping the camera or anything, but it just gets a bit looser so you feel like you don;t have a great grip as you'd like. I use it on a Canon 6D with a 135L lens though, so maybe all the weight pulls it a bit.installing it -well, instructions are not in English, though there is a video online. You will watch that video 100 times before you figure it out. there is lots of looping and routing of the strap. Eventually you will get it, and feel dumb. But it is not at all intuitive to set it up. 3Nice leather thick padding I just attached my Hand Grip camera strap in black to my Nikon D7000. It would have been nice to have had a little visual aid / diagram on how to attach it. It's easy to do / not difficult to figure out, but took several minutes, and a simple diagram would have saved me a bit of time. Mainly there is a loose slider piece in the box that I added to the strap end after I put it through the tripod plate piece and if I'd had a diagram for that I wouldn't have had to work with it trial and error.I have small hands, so there is a long piece of strap left over, and a nice diagram on how best to thread the leftover strap end back under would have been helpful. Herringbone Heritage Leather Camera Hand Grip Type 1 Hand Strap for DSLR with Multi Plate, Black with Red StitchingYes, the tripod plate piece is included in the box. There is a slot on one side to slip the thin leather strap through, then you tighten the plate using a coin. No, there is no printed instruction-sheet. There is a printed "Heritage" sheet in Korean and a version of English that lost something in the translation. It's all easy enough to figure out--just fiddle around with it. It's the little bits that need adjusting that take the most time.I was eager to ditch my Nikon neck strap with the day-glow yellow brand name on it, and this seems to be a really good alternative. Plus the neck strap kept getting in my way during indoor use. So I expect this hand grip will solve those problems. It's a well made item that could easily last for decades. The red stitching looks great and really is hardly noticeable from a distance. 5
