Customer Reviews

Works great right out of the box UPDATE: I used the Headset Buddy with my headset until the headset died. Didn't have one scintilla of trouble with it. So buy it with confidence. (I replaced my dead headset with ones that have an RJ11 plug on them, so I don't need it. But it's there if I do!)I got a notification to review this, so I got it out and hooked it up. Almost immediately I got a phone call! It does reduce the incoming volume a bit, but that's what the volume on the phone base or on your headphone are for.So far I have no complaints, but then it's still early days. Hopefully after using it daily for the next month I won't have to edit or rewrite this review. Apparently the one I have is their latest and greatest version; I'm hoping the disappointed people got previous, not quite perfected versions. 5Echo!!!!! I really wanted this product to work with the headset I have for my cordless phone at home. I have the landline base (Panasonic KX-TG6671) in home office and bought this so that I can use the headset with the base. That way while on long conversations I wouldn't have to worry about having the cordless phone battery die on me etc. When I used this product it caused a lot of echo and everyone on the conference call could hear it. They said it sounded muffled and as if I was on speaker phone. Using the same headset on the cordless phone with the 2.5 mm port built in and that worked flawlessly. Unfortunately this product did not work for my setup and I had to return it. 1A waste of time-Not Polycom Compatible. There is a compatibility list on Headset Buddies website but it's not reliable.I had written a glowing review, and was very happy to finally find a product that fit our needs, but then I had one of my staff call me using the adapter. Massive amounts of echo--I was hearing my own voice... review deleted.Apparently the adapter is not compatible with Polycoms and feeds back the callee's audio into the caller's mic. Thinking it was maybe the headset doing it, I tested it with the adapter but without a headset, and called the phone--same problem.Failed with:Polycom 650Polycom 550Polycom 501Seemingly it works with some phones, but I shouldn't have to alpha test a product that is on the manufacturer's compatibility list! 2Worked perfectly, right out of the box . . . I have a standard Plantronics headset that plugs into the top of any home-quality cordless phone. I needed to use it with my new Aastra 6731i VOIP phone. This little cord worked PERFECTLY, right out of the box. And the sound quality is top-notch.(For this phone, you do have to turn the microphone gain to the high setting for optimal performance.) 5Junk would be a nice description of this We tried 3 of these because we really needed it to work. We were trying to hook up a really good 2.5mm headset to a new VoIP phone. They just don't work. The caller can't hear you at all. There were multiple problems. We were hoping it was isolated and we got a bad one, but that wasn't the case. They all 3 had the problems. None of them witness at all. It was disappointing. Don't waste your time and money. You will be irritated and dealing with returning yours as well. 1Poor quality! Headset buddy, has no phone number on their website!!! The adapter I got did not work properly, it sounded like a bad cell reception and it had a dreadful echo that was a double echo. I could hear the other person's echo. I had Amazon ship me a replacement and it was just as bad. I will not use a headset buddy ever again, Claims they have a 100% guarantee, but no way to get in touch with them! I paid 10$ to have this shipped to my office to use for work, and the thing does not even work properly. I cannot describe my frustration and disappointment enough. Trying to talk on the new phone at work without a headset is giving me a crick in my neck and making me very grumpy. I need a head set adapter to use my headset so that I can do my job. I need it to have good quality so that the other person can hear me. The Amazon guy, could even hear the double echo and had a hard time hearing me, he said that he could hear himself better than he could hear me when I talked to him on the headset. I switched to the hand set and he was like, that is much better. So returned both adapters and ordered a audiocom one, and I am hoping that it works. Dont buy this piece of crap! 1Not for Polycom VVX series phones Probably not a bad product if it works with your phone, but did not work properly with any of our Polycom VVX phones (310, 410 or 500). The other caller would hear themselves talk, echoing back. As soon as I switched to speaker or the handset it went away and they could hear fine. Was using with a Panasonic 2.5mm headset that I've been using on our previous Polycom Soundpoint phones just fine. The VVX series was not on Headset Buddy's compatibility list or non-compatible list. Item used was 01-PH25-RJ9A. Was able to return for full refund. 2NG in my Avaya / Nortel phone, maybe it will work in your phone This converter cable does not work on the Avaya (or Nortel) 1120E IP phone. Emails exchanged with Buddy Support (prompt and agreeable) not helpful; they suggest using a different headset and profess no knowledge of this phone. I then examined the wiring: The RJ9 side of this cable has only 3 conductors on it (pin 1 has no connection). Two of the four pins should be tied together to make a common for the ear circuit and the mic circuit. Buddy seems to assume that this would have been done in the phone itself. I'm sure Buddy works in some other phones but not this popular model. Could have bought a useful stack of toilet paper with the $16. Damn! 1Echo This sort of works. There is an echo on the end of the person calling in. We tried different phones, etc. I wanted to return it, just really never got around to it. I think it is over priced, especially since it doesn't work well. First phone we used it on you could hear but couldn't talk through it. The microphone portion didn't work with it. Switched phones, it worked then had the echo affect. I would not recommend this product. We have found the best solution would be to upgrade phones to get one with the correct plug for the headset directly. good luck y'all. 2Not For Grandstream Does not work with GrandStream GXP2130. I can hear, but they can't hear me. There is another review that reports the same problem. I tried to call Headset Buddy at the phone number on the other review's comment, but no one was there and I left voicemail. I'm hoping there is a solution for the Grandstream because we have lots of headphones that work fine with Cisco IP phones with the 2.5mm pin. I'll be returning this one. 1
