    Important part missing I've been using these for years. In the last order of 4 one unit was missing a mounting clip making proper installation almost impossible. It's hard to say if this was a manufacturer fault or a problem with packing and shipping. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. 3it was pretty much destroyed and went into the garbage I bought this to replace an older style of light can that wouldn't fit a modern looking trim. The old one was mounted using a 5" ring attached to the ceiling joists during construction. Unfortunately, this did not work as the diameter of the body is actually a little larger than 5". The metal on this is a little bit thicker than aluminum foil so after trying to get it to fit and taking it in and out for a little while, it was pretty much destroyed and went into the garbage.If you have a perfectly cut hole in the ceiling drywall and can get it wired, positioned and locked in on one shot, it would probably work for you. 2Two Stars Arrived damaged. Sent it back for a refund. I am not sure how well it works when not damaged. 2Great remodel light housing I installed these in my bathroom and I'm really impressed. I followed the supplied directions and used the template that was also supplied. Two lights installed and wired took about an hour or so. I'm not an electrician but I do have pretty good knowledge of a/c electrical theory. The push in connectors are great. The only problem is getting the clips to lock in place. 5Lights just fine, poor quality clips We have many of these fixtures around our house with roughly a 75% success rate in getting the clips to work. Every time I get a dud with bad clips I swear I'll never buy another one again, but they are so cheap and once they're in there just fine, so I continue buying them on remodel projects. I do love that they come pre-wired with the Quick Connect style wire nuts. 3Trim shown in picture is not included Arrived today and seems to be all in order. Mounting this in a cabinet space and hoping the clips won't be problematic there. We'll see. When I looked at the picture on this listing it clearly appears to have the trim included and I missed the description which says "housing." Bummed that I now need to find some trim to go with it which will add to the cost. 3Ordered two fixtures - both were bent and missing parts. Many reviewers complained of difficulty with the retaining clips. My problem is that of the two fixtures I purchased, one fixture had only two of the four clips required! The other one had all four, so I split the difference and gave each one three clips. But that's not the worst of it. Both fixtures arrived bent and misshapen due to improper handling and packaging at Amazon. I didn't feel like returning them because I needed them right away. So I bent them back into shape and made them work for my situation, regardless of the poor quality. I would expect better than this from Amazon. Very disappointed. 1Tough installation Be prepared to fight with these. I did ultimately conquer the installation of these, thanks to someone's suggestion that the metal tabs be bent into a more open angle before installation. Even so, use a wide blade screwdriver and gloves, as securing the tab requires significant force. A slip of the screwdriver without gloves on could be ugly. 3Frequently arrived damaged. I have ordered these before and had to send some back due to damage. This time I ordered 6 and only received 5, 2 of them damaged. How do I tell them you owe me one more without sending them all back? Anyway the lights I put up look great. 2The retaining clips are a nightmare, but excellent outside of that THE SHORT OF ITThe only negative about this fixtures is the four clips which hold the fixture in place. They're a real bugger to be sure. I had to bend most of them to get them to lock in place. However, there is a very narrow window that the clips can lock in, so you end up with a lot of trial and error to get the bent shape correct. It's hard to express how frustrating this process was; needless to say, there was some inappropriate language involved.Outside of that, I like these fixtures. The wiring in the junction box comes with the "push in" type wire connectors, so you do not even need wire nuts. They wire up very easily. Just don't forget you will have to supply your own wire clamps that screw into the junction box knock-outs.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONI got these fixtures because I wanted something smaller than a 6 inch light and I needed them for a ceiling with an attic space above. Which meant that I needed IC (insulated contact) and AT (air-tight) fixtures. It seems there are not many options for 4 or 5 inch fixtures with those ratings. If you can find something else that will fit your needs, I'd give those a shot just because these were such a pain to put in. Otherwise, these will work, just be prepared to be frustrated. Before installing them, it's best to clear the area of children and anyone else easily offended by unpleasant language.The other reason I chose these fixtures was that they were specifically listed as compatible with the trim I found. I suspect other fixtures are compatible, but it's easier to get parts you know are compatible. I had a sloped ceiling I was putting the lights in, so I needed an eyeball or gimbal trim, here are the ones I paired with these fixtures:Halo 5070SN 5-Inch Eyeball Light Trim, Satin NickelNote that this trim requires the "Short" PAR30 bulb. You also need to modify the fixture to fit them in. Unclip the socket and remove the metal plate the socket was attached to. The socket then clips into the top of the eyeball trim. It only takes a minute to do, but it is something to be aware of if you have never used an eyeball trim (instructions were not provided, but it is easy enough to figure out).My approach to lighting is super bright and dimmable is the way to go. I can almost never get too much light when I'm working on a task, but you don't always need "operating room" brightness. So I paired both the fixtures and trim with these bright, dimmable LEDs:Dimmable LED - 18.5 Watt - PAR30 - Short Neck - 120W Equal - 3200 Candlepower - 36 Deg. Flood - 3000K Halogen White - Soraa 00849 3
